The Contribution of Life Meaning, Mindfulness, And Resilience on Flourishing Among University Students: A Structural Equation Modeling Approach

    No full text
This study examines how meaning in life, mindfulness, and resilience contribute to university students' flourishing. Using a sample of 274 Tehran University students, data from validated questionnaires including the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire, and Flourishing Scale (FFMQ), were analysed through structural equation modelling. Results revealed that meaning in life and mindfulness directly enhance resilience, which in turn influences flourishing. Both constructs also indirectly impact flourishing through resilience. The model fit well, highlighting the importance of fostering these psychological traits to promote student well-being and personal growth in educational settings

Issues And Challenges Faced By Malaysian Montessori School Teachers In Teaching Special Educational Needs Children

    No full text
Montessori schools is an educational approach that focuses on child-centered or child-initiated learning in which the child actively directs their own learning experiences. In recent years, the number of Montessori schools in Malaysia has increased steadily, reflecting the nation's growing interest in this alternative education system. This learning approach allows Special Educational Needs (SEN) children to go through the process of cognitive and physical development (Lodewijk et al., 2023). This study was conducted to view the challenges faced by teachers who teach SEN children in several Montessori schools in Malaysia. The research niche is identified by the need to have strategies and the roles of stakeholders to support teachers in the teaching and learning process of SEN children in Montessori settings. This study was conducted by interviewing eleven teachers from five different schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Malaysia. All the interviewed teachers are with at least one year of experience instructing SEN students in Montessori environments. The study's findings indicate that teachers deal with seven major obstacles, which are the requirement for individualised instruction, problems with behaviour management, a lack of parental involvement, inadequacy of workshops and training, issues in monitoring progress, teachers' emotional health and resource constraints. Every challenge poses also centres on beneficial strategies with the role of stakeholders serving as a further support. In conclusion, it is anticipated that this research study will assist Malaysian Montessori schools in holding discussions with teachers to enhance their institutions. Furthermore, it is anticipated that this study will offer subsequent researchers a current comprehension of the level of knowledge in a certain field and acts as a basis for further research to be conducted

Modelling the expectations of economic agents with networks - The dynamics of agreement

    No full text
In this paper, I examine how different network relationship structures influence the expectations of economic agents. For each agent, its credibility is known (trust index), i.e. the weight that its opinion should be given by other actors when forming their own opinions. The analysis focuses on the dynamics of consensus formation under different initial distributions (uniform, normal, beta) for both the trust index and the initial expectations. Using directed networks generated by the Barabási-Albert and Erdős-Rényi models, I simulate interactions among agents, testing nine combinations of trust index and initial expectation distributions. Scale-free networks are chosen for their ability to represent hubs of high influence, which are common in economic systems, while Erdős–Rényi networks provide a baseline for randomness. The results show that dense networks, such as Erdős-Rényi random networks with high threshold probabilities, consistently reach consensus faster than sparse or scale-free networks. Uniform and normal distributions of trust indices and initial expectations facilitate faster alignment, whereas beta distributions introduce variability and slower convergence. These findings illustrate how the critical role of network density and individual heterogeneity in shaping consensus dynamics, using a simulation model to offer valuable insights into the interplay between structure and behaviour in networked systems
