    An Approach for an AI-based Objection Management in The Context of Public Participation

    In the face of increasing rejection and criticism from the public towards planned infrastructure projects and transformation processes, authorities are expanding the use of e-participation platforms. These digital tools promise enhanced influence and transparency. The growing adoption of such platforms is resulting in a rise in the number of citizens wishing to actively participate in shaping infrastructure measures. Simultaneously, decision-makers are confronted with the challenge of deriving meaningful insights from the plethora of contributions. In this context, the issue of information overload can be identified, stemming from the growing availability of digital technologies. The development described requires the authorities to have the skills and resources to process complex objections. However, many public administrations lack the appropriate tools for analysing and structuring large text documents. AI approaches, particularly in the field of natural language processing (NLP), offer promising solutions to meet these challenges. Therefore, this study examines how AI can be used in the context of public participation to improve objection management. Based on a systematic literature review, a qualitative study with employees of German public administrations identifies optimization possibilities in the context of objection management. These are recorded as requirements. The subsequently developed use cases provide concrete starting points on how objection processing can be significantly accelerated. As a result, time and costs can be saved. The developed AI-based approach for objection management is now poised for integration into the ongoing BIM4People research initiative, backed by funding from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport in Germany.     Gazdasági növekedés egy kétszektoros digitális gazdaságban

    A tanulmány azt vizsgálja, hogy a gazdaság digitális szektora milyen mértékben járul hozzá a gazdasági növekedéshez, fejlődéshez. A vizsgálat középpontjában egy két szektoros gazdaság áll, ahol a gazdaság szektorait szétválasztjuk a digitális és nem digitális szektorokra. Az ágazatok termelését egy-egy termelési függvénnyel írjuk le, ami egyben az adott ágazat jövedelemtermelő képességét is bemutatja. Mindkét termelési függvénynek két argumentuma van: a tőkejószág és a rendelkezésre álló munkaerő. A rendszer dinamikáját a két ágazat tőkefelhalmozása és amortizációja adja, annak függvényében, hogy mekkora jövedelmet termel az adott szektor. A gazdaságban feltételezzük, hogy a tervező a digitális javak és a nem digitális javak összesített hasznosságát optimalizálja a végtelen időhorizonton, diszkontálás mellett. A felírt tervezési problémát optimális irányítással oldjuk meg a Pontrjagin-féle maximumelvvel. Az optimális irányítási feladat megoldása után a fenntartható egyensúlyi arányos pályát állítjuk elő, annak tulajdonságaival együtt. Az eredményeket egy számpéldával támasztjuk alá

    Exploring Working Women’s Experience With Mentorship in The Construction Trades: A Qualitative Analysis

    The construction industry remains predominantly male-dominated, where women face numerous challenges in entering and advancing in their construction careers in the trades. The construction trades have not been known for its welcoming attitude towards women entering the construction trades, with women constituting only 4% of the construction craft workforce. Mentorship in the construction trades is a well-regarded tool used to help new construction trades apprentices learn their craft and guide their careers. While research on issues related to mentorship in construction is prevalent in existing literature, no research has directly examined the perspective of working women regarding their experiences with mentorship in the construction trades. The authors of this study organized focus groups comprising women employed in construction crafts to capture their insights and experiences within the field. Across 29 sessions, 176 women participated, with each group consisting of 5-8 women. They were specifically questioned about their encounters with mentorship within the construction crafts domain. These focus group participants are from both the United States and Canada and have worked in diverse construction settings, including industrial and commercial sites. The purpose of this paper is to understand the perspective of working female craft professionals in the construction trades regarding their experience with mentorship. The focus group interviews underwent recording and transcription, after which a qualitative thematic content analysis was conducted on the transcripts. Key findings of this study show that women were often well-trained and pushed to learn by their mentors. Moreover, women were given advice and support regarding their careers. Still, many women indicated that they only had male mentors, highlighting the need for more women to fill such roles to help and guide new women in the construction trades
