    In this letter, dated September 26, 1942, W. A. Kirkland, Assistant Director of Naval Officer Procurement in New Orleans, writes to Webster Buchanan to acknowledge the receipt of Buchanan\u27s Naval Reserve inquiry. The letter goes on to provide instructions for applying and explains how the application process works.     This greeting card, sent by Phyllis, congratulates James Franklin and Margaret Ray Buchanan on the birth of their baby, a daughter named Harriet Ann. The card features illustrations of a baby snuggled into a fluffy white pillow among blue and pink flowers. A stuffed puppy and toy ducks are also depicted. The accompanying text is a poem celebrating a new baby and the note included expresses Phyllis\u27s joy at the news of the new baby.
