Assessing the teachers’ experiences in action research based on SWOT analysis
This study determined the experiences encountered by the teachers of JBT Caing Sr. Memorial Integrated School, Tambilil Kiamba, Sarangani Province, Philippines, in conducting action research. The data was gathered through interviews with purposively sampled 10 teachers from elementary, secondary, and senior high school departments. They are neophytes in conducting research. A qualitative approach through an interview guide was used for data collection. The data from the interviews were transcribed, analyzed, and thematically described. From the swot analysis, the main themes occurred and showed that teachers have encountered the following major challenges: lack of research knowledge, time-constrained, and low level of English proficiency. Furthermore, it was discovered that the teachers had positive feedback toward research even though they had difficulties in conducting action research. The Department of Education (DepEd) policymakers and officials should consider its results to address the research needs of the teachers to build a community of teacher-researchers committed to educational research.

Exposure to heavy metals in oil and gas wastes: A systematic review on health hazards assessment and mitigation in Nigeria
Heavy metals are toxic elements that are known to pose a significant threat to human health and the environment. In the oil and gas industry, heavy metals can be found in various waste streams, including drilling muds, production fluids, and produced waters. It is important to assess the health hazards associated with these wastes to ensure the safety of workers and the public. This systematic review aimed to assess the health hazards of heavy metals present in oil and gas waste in Nigeria. The study analyzed the levels of heavy metals in the waste, their sources, and the potential health risks associated with exposure. A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify relevant studies published. The results of the study showed that high levels of heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, and mercury were present in the oil and gas waste in Nigeria. The exposure to these heavy metals can lead to serious health issues such as respiratory problems, kidney damage, and cancer. Based on the literature, there are several methods that can be used to mitigate the health hazards of heavy metals in oil and gas waste. These methods include incineration, treatment with chemicals, proper landfill management, and recycling. To ensure the safety of workers and the surrounding communities, it is essential that these methods be implemented and monitored properly. The findings of these studies call for increased public health interventions and the implementation of effective measures to prevent and mitigate the toxic impacts of petroleum waste on the health of local communities. The study also highlighted the need for effective regulations and more management strategies to minimize the exposure of the population to these hazardous substances and protect public health
Religion of parents and communication on adolescents’ sexuality in Southwest Nigeria
Risky sexual behaviour among adolescents has increased considerably. The situation has resulted in the early sexual debut of the young ones, engagement with multiple partners and adolescent pregnancy among adolescents in Nigeria and the Sub-Saharan in general. This is not unconnected with inadequate and uni-directional, weak and autocratic communication channels about sexuality within the family. Adolescents may seek information about sexuality from distorted, incomplete and unreliable information sources, such as the social media, peers, novels, music and magazines. This behaviour has resulted in gaps in communication, and which have had long-term consequences on their health and wellbeing. This study examined the influence of parent’s religion on sexual conversation by parents with their adolescents. A descriptive research design was adopted. Sample size was seven hundred and twenty-one (721) parents of adolescents selected through a multistage sampling technique from three (3) Southwest States in Nigeria. Data were collected using questionnaire. Analyses of data were done using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that (16.7%) of parents had poor level of communication on sexuality with their adolescents, (23.1%) parents had an average level of communication on sexuality, while, a good number (60.2%) of parents had good level of communication on sexuality with their adolescents. In addition, the religion of parents significantly influenced discussions on adolescents’ sexuality. There is need for parents to give sexual health information to adolescents and communicate with their adolescents on sex-related issues. They need to overcome inhibitions in discussing sex-related matters with their children from childhood
Scene design and stage construction: Evaluating Paul Ugbede\u27s Our Son the Minister and Ahmed Yerima\u27s Ameh Oboni the Great Productions
Theatre performance is not only meant to entertain, it also passes across important messages and information to the audience. The aforementioned goals of the theatre can only be realised if the mood of the production as well as its theme, historical background, locales, directorial concept and theory are properly defined and interpreted and translated visually by the designer. Symbolically, design and construction are indispensable elements of the theatre. Yet, it has been observed that there seems to be total neglect of this most auspicious aspect of theatre production by practitioners and amateurs. This aspect is most precious that if it is not given attention, the production may be meaningless. It is against this backdrop that this study aims at evaluating the essence of stage construction and design in theatrical performance. The study adopts a content analysis approach of the qualitative research methodology through the analysis of Ugbede\u27s Our Son the Minister and Yerima\u27s Ameh Oboni the Great productions. The findings show that scene design and stage construction are veritable areas in theatrical production. Thus, the study concludes that if attention is given to these key areas, the audience may not have any option than to come back again and again. Thus, the paper recommends among others that scene design and stage construction should be given adequate attention in the process of preparing for theatre productions

A critical discourse analysis of selected print media reports on insurgency in Nigerian newspapers
Insufficient studies have considered critical studies to explore diverse discourse patterns that arise from print media reportage of insurgent actions in the country. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine an investigation of the insurgency coverage in Nigerian media through the Critical Discourse Approach with a view to identifying the various ideological roles present in the coverage. van Dijk\u27s (2006) Socio-cognitive approach to Critical Discourse Analysis was adopted as the theoretical framework for this study. The study used a qualitative method to analyse twenty (29) reports purposively. Data were selected from three National newspapers, namely: The Punch, This Day and The Guardian. Findings revealed the presence of six discursive strategies which are labeling, number game, evidentiality, lexicalisation, metaphor and categorisation. These strategies are utilised in news reports to construct polarity as well as social inequality and bias. This paper also revealed that the presupposition of the ideologies found is to increase the information deliveries and acceptance in the written reports of the insurgent actions in Nigeria. Most importantly, the ideologies are used to present two major groups, namely the in-group and the out-group. While the in-group refers to Nigerian citizens who were portrayed as victims and innocent, the out-groups refers to the various insurgency groups who bring about tears, pains and bloodletting among the Nigerian people. The study concludes that newspapers are often bias especially in their reportage of insurgent operations as revealed in the data analysis

Fungal spoilage of cayenne pepper (Capsicum annuum) and scotch bonnet pepper (Capsicum chinense)
The fungal spoilage of scotch bonnet pepper and cayenne pepper was investigated. About 20 Samples of cayenne pepper (Capsicum annuum) and scoth bonnet pepper (Capsicum chinense) were obtained from five differerent sellers (four samples each) including two (2) spoiled and two (2) fresh samples in Wadata market in Makurdi metropolis. The samples were serially diluted and dilution 10-2 and 10-4 dilution factors were used, inoculation was done using pour plate method onto SDA medium and the colonies were enumerated in colony forming unit per gram (CFU/g). Identification of the colonies was done from the colony characteristics such as color, shape and type of hyphae under the microscope using the compendium for fungi. Production of afflatoxin by the isolated fungi was also determined. The occurrences of the isolated organisms was recorded based on frequencies and percentage. The isolated fingi were Trychophyton Sp, Geotrichum Sp, Mucor Sp, and Yeast. Preservation and proper handling of different species of pepper should be taken seriously and hygienically to reduce spoilage organisms and hence bring post-harvest losses of pepper to a minimal level
