Tracing Toni Morrison’s Narrative Strategies in Sula: The Afterlife of Slavery in Black Narrative Form

This paper examines Toni Morrison’s narrative strategies in her novel Sula, focusing on how she reconstructs and transmits the complex history of Black people to younger generations. Morrison’s literary works serve as a vehicle for preserving the legacy of Black history, often obscured or distorted. Employing both objective and expressive methodologies, this study analyzes the novel alongside relevant critical sources that explore Morrison’s narrative techniques and thematic intentions. The findings reveal that Morrison consistently employs distinctive narrative strategies in Sula, including a non-linear plot structure that juxtaposes past, present, and future; character development rooted in fragments of memory and historical detail; and the deliberate use of historical, geographical, and cultural settings. Moreover, Morrison integrates the Black community not only as a backdrop but as a vital thematic element and a collective character within the novel. This study underscores Morrison’s commitment to centering Black experiences and histories through innovative narrative forms

Premature Baby Care Training for Mothers: Efforts to Improve Skills in Caring for Premature Babies

Caring for premature infants remains a major challenge for mothers, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. Infants born before 37 weeks of gestation require specialized care not only during hospitalization but also after discharge. Unfortunately, many mothers still lack adequate knowledge and skills to independently manage the care of premature infants, especially in key aspects such as safe bathing, maintaining body temperature to prevent hypothermia, providing optimal nutrition, and preventing infection. The limited availability of practical training and health education further constrains the transition from hospital-based to home-based care. This community service program was designed to strengthen maternal competence in caring for premature infants through structured training that combined theoretical instruction with hands-on practice. The activity was conducted at Soediran Mangun Sumarso Regional Hospital, Wonogiri, in May 2025, and involved six mothers with premature infants. The methods included health education, demonstrations, simulation exercises, and pre- and post-training evaluations. The results indicated a significant improvement in maternal competence across the four targeted skills. These findings highlight the effectiveness of practice-based educational interventions in preparing mothers for independent premature infant care. Furthermore, this initiative provides a foundation for developing scalable educational models that can reduce complications and improve the quality of life of premature infants, while empowering mothers as primary caregivers after NICU discharge

    No full text
Shortening is a solid plastic fat product that is widely used as a raw material in the production of food products such as biscuits, cakes, bread, and pastries. PT X produces shortening from the interesterification reaction of Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil. (RBDPO). In the shortening production process using the interesterification method, it will be influenced by the amount of catalyst added and the heating time. The objective of this research is to analyze the effect of the amount of sodium methoxide catalyst and heating time on the interesterification process of RBDPO on the quality of shortening products. By considering the parameters of Solid Fat Content (SFC) and Slip Melting Point (SMP), an optimal method can be developed to improve the quality and stability of the shortening product. The variations of sodium methoxide catalyst used are concentrations of 0.050%; 0.100%; 0.125%; 0.25%; 0.375%; 0.500%, while the variations in heating time are 50 minutes, 40 minutes, and 30 minutes. The results of the research conducted show that the interesterification process of RBDPO into a shortening product with very good quality is achieved by using sodium methoxide catalyst with a concentration of 0.250% and a heating time of 40 minutes, in accordance with the standards set by PT X for Solid Fat Content (SFC) and Slip Melting Point. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of production risk, price risk, and cost risk in cabbage farming in Selupu Rejang District, Rejang Regency, Bengkulu Province. This research used descriptive quantitative method with survey approach. The research sample was 92 cabbage farmers selected by purposive sampling from the four largest cabbage producing villages. Data analysis was done by calculating the mean, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, and lower limit. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the level of risk of production, price, and cost is low because the CV value <0.5 with a production CV value of 0.0013, a price CV value of 0.0018 and a cost CV value of 0.000033. In addition, the value of the lower limit (L) is more than 0, which means that farmers have the opportunity to experience profits with a production L value of 570,228, a price L value of 320,865, and a cost L value of 936,009,909.Keywords: risk, farming, cabbage

GREEN MUSTARD PRODUCTION WITH COMBINATION OF TRICHODERMA AND NPK ON ULTISOL SOIL

    No full text
Development of green cabbage production on suboptimal land, one of which is ultisol soil. Efforts to increase production with inorganic fertilizer, namely NPK, have a negative impact on agricultural land or reduce soil fertility quality through continuous use. Efforts to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizer, one of the technologies is the use of biofertilizer microorganisms. Trichoderma sp as a biological fertilizer, its role as a biological control agent against pathogens, has a positive impact on the plant root system, growth and development and plant production. The aim of the research is to analyze the response of green cabbage plants to the application of NPK fertilizer and Trichoderma sp. Carrying out research on the Payakumbuh State Agricultural Polytechnic Campus, from February to April 2025. Field experimental research method with Randomized Block Design. Treatments consist of 100% application of inorganic NPK fertilizer, (P1); Trichoderma sp 10ml/liter water + 50% NPK fertilizer, (P2); Trichoderma sp 13 ml/liter water + 50% NPK fertilizer, (P3); Trichoderma sp 15 ml/liter water + 50% NPK fertilizer. Each treatment is grouped into six groups, resulting in a total of 24 experimental units. The application of 10 ml Trichoderma sp + 50% NPK is capable of enhancing plant growth and fresh weight production to a value similar to that obtained with the application of 100% NPK. Increasing the dose of Trichoderma sp applied can enhance the development of the plant's root system. The application of Trichoderma sp can reduce the use of inorganic fertilizer by 50%
