Social Adaptation of Generation Z in Multicultural Workplaces: Evidence from the TIDAYU Context of West Kalimantan

Generation Z has become a dominant workforce cohort, whose expectations for openness, flexibility, and meaningful work often intersect with the multicultural and multigenerational dynamics of local workplaces. This study aims to examine how Generation Z employees in West Kalimantan socially adapt to organizational environments shaped by the interethnic TIDAYU (Dayak–Malay–Chinese) context. Using an exploratory qualitative design, the research involved 18 participants aged 18–28 years from the service, retail, education, and MSME sectors in Pontianak, Singkawang, and Ketapang. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis, generating 138 codes, 24 subcategories, and three themes. The findings revealed three dominant adaptation patterns: communication adjustment, learning from senior workers, and seeking clarity and meaning in work. Organizational factors—particularly open leadership and flexible work structures–significantly facilitate adaptation, while authoritarian leadership and rigid structures hinder it. Peer support emerged as the strongest community factor accelerating Gen Z’s social adjustment, supported by multicultural workplace values fostering acceptance and comfort. The study concludes that Gen Z’s adaptation is an interactive, context-dependent process shaped by personal strategies, organizational culture, and social dynamics of TIDAYU communities. These insights emphasize that successful adaptation occurs when organizational values align with the generational needs and local cultural norms. The findings highlight the importance of adopting inclusive leadership, establishing flexible work systems, and strengthening cross-generational and cross-cultural engagement to enhance Gen Z integration and workplace harmony in multicultural regions

Social media addiction is a growing concern among adolescents worldwide, with potentially serious impacts on psychological health, academic performance, and social relationships. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a psychological program designed to reduce social media addiction among tenth-grade students in Duhok Governorate, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test measurements. The sample consisted of 23 tenth-grade students (aged 15 years and above) who exhibited high levels of social media addiction according to a validated scale. The intervention was a 12-session psychological program based on cognitive-behavioral approaches, delivered twice weekly for 45 minutes per session. The program incorporated techniques such as self-control training, rational thinking skills, time management, relaxation exercises, and positive reinforcement strategies. Data were collected using the Social Media Addiction Scale (Younis, 2016) and analyzed using t-tests and Cohen\u27s effect size calculations. Findings revealed that participants had high levels of social media addiction at baseline (M=64.52, SD=5.17), significantly higher than the hypothetical mean (t=4.18, p<0.05). Following the intervention, there was a statistically significant decrease in addiction levels (M=53.43, SD=10.13; t=5.24, p<0.05), with a large effect size (Cohen\u27s d=1.09). The results indicate that the psychological program was effective in reducing social media addiction among the participants. The study demonstrates that structured psychological interventions based on cognitive and behavioral approaches can effectively reduce social media addiction among adolescents. The findings suggest that implementing similar programs in educational settings could be beneficial in addressing the growing problem of social media addiction among students, particularly in regions where digital literacy education and awareness about risks of excessive social media use are limite

This study aimed to experimentally verify the effectiveness of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program based on behavioral theory in improving desired behaviors among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The research employed an experimental method with equivalent groups design (experimental and control) using pre-test and post-test measurements. The research population consisted of all children diagnosed with ASD in Duhok Governorate and Zakho Independent Administration in Iraq, from which a purposive sample of 34 children was selected and randomly assigned to experimental (n=17) and control (n=17) groups. The Autism Behavior Rating Scale was used as the primary measurement instrument after establishing its validity and reliability. The ABA program, implemented over 15 weeks through 30 sessions, incorporated comprehensive behavioral strategies including positive reinforcement, shaping, sequencing, and modeling. Results showed significant improvements in the behavioral dimension among the experimental group compared to the control group, while no statistically significant differences were found in the social dimension between groups despite observable improvements. Within-group analysis demonstrated significant improvements in both behavioral and social dimensions for the experimental group when comparing pre-test and post-test scores. These findings confirm ABA\u27s effectiveness in improving desired behaviors among children with ASD, particularly when implemented systematically with individualized adaptations

This study examines the validity of the Consumer Dispute Settlement Agency’s (BPSK) authority in handling banking disputes, as reflected in the Supreme Court Decision No. 253 K/Pdt.Sus-BPSK/2017. The aim is to analyze the legal scope of BPSK’s jurisdiction over conflicts between consumers and financial service institutions. The research employs a normative juridical approach with a descriptive-analytical method, using secondary data from primary, secondary, and tertiary legal sources. The study is library-based, with legal documents as the primary source. Data were analyzed qualitatively using descriptive analysis. Findings show that arbitration-based banking dispute resolution falls under the authority of the Financial Services Sector Alternative Dispute Resolution Body, as regulated by Law No. 21 of 2011 and POJK No. 1/POJK.07/2014. The Supreme Court concluded that BPSK has no absolute jurisdiction over banking breach of contract cases, thus annulling BPSK’s decision in the case in question. The study highlights the importance of institutional accuracy in dispute resolution to ensure valid legal protection for involved parties

This study discusses the dual role conflict and resilience of working mothers during the Covid-19 pandemic, a new event that has provided many challenges for working mothers in carrying out both their roles in the domestic and public spheres. The Covid-19 pandemic presents extraordinary and unprecedented situations, such as the implementation of work from home, distance learning for schoolchildren, and social restrictions. These conditions created new pressures that were more intense than those before the pandemic. Using qualitative methods and a phenomenological approach, data in this study were collected through in-depth interviews and non-participatory observations and then tested for validity using triangulation techniques and bracketing of interview transcripts. This research was conducted in Ponorogo Regency, East Java, for approximately six months using eight working mothers as research subjects or informants. The results showed that: 1) all eight working mothers experienced dual role conflict in the form of time-based conflict and strain-based conflict, especially during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic; 2) efforts that have been made by working mothers to be resilient in undergoing both roles during the Covid-19 pandemic represent seven aspects of forming individual resilience, namely, emotion regulation, impulse control, causal analysis, self-efficacy, optimism, empathy, and reaching out. These findings emphasize the need for support for working mothers facing various challenges and difficulties in difficult times, such as a pandemic. The support needed can come from various parties, ranging from family members themselves, especially spouses, friends, and the surrounding environment, to the government

This study aims to describe the application of digitally differentiated Arabic language learning for students with special needs in the Integrated Islamic Elementary School at SDIT Darul Falah Sukoreo Ponorogo. It is a case study research involving seven students with special needs at SDIT Darul Falah. The data collection technique uses observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis is carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawn. The study results showed that Arabic at SDIT Darul Falah Sukorejo Ponorogo is a lesson within the framework of an informal curriculum that must be taught to regular students and students with special needs. Second, the Arabic learning methodology for students with special needs focuses on the self-esteem approach, which aims to increase student confidence, affecting Arabic\u27s motivation and learning outcomes. Third, Digital Differentiated Arabic Language Learning for students with special needs uses more digital media such as audio-visual media, animated graphics, and educational and social media; this effort is carried out on the principle of second language learning (B2), which must involve the needs of students, especially students with special needs. Digitally differentiated Arabic learning has shown its effectiveness in improving the quality of learning. This digital media can help students with special needs to understand and interact with Arabic more easily. Teachers at SDIT must be trained to use the self-esteem approach and digital technology to learn Arabic. This is so teachers can effectively teach students with special needs

This study examines the granting of exclusive rights by the state to registered trademark holders based on the constitutive principle and the first to file approach. Legal protection for trademarks in Indonesia is only granted if the owner registers it formally, not merely based on prior use. The aim of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the first to file principle within the constitutive framework and its implications for legal certainty. This research employs a normative juridical method with a doctrinal approach. Secondary data—including primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials—was collected through library research and analyzed qualitatively using deductive reasoning. The study focuses on the trademark registration mechanism at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property. The findings reveal that trademark registration in Indonesia involves formal examination, public announcement, and substantive examination as procedural steps to obtain lawful protection. This system ensures legal protection for good-faith applicants and prevents ownership conflicts. The study concludes that the application of the first to file principle within a constitutive legal framework offers legitimate and effective protection for trademark rights, serving as a vital legal tool to uphold certainty within Indonesia’s intellectual property system

State-Sponsored Qur’anic Exegesis and Interreligious Relations: A Comparative Study of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia

This article explores how three state-sponsored Qurʾānic exegeses-al-Muntakhab (Egypt), al-Muyassar (Saudi Arabia), and al-Wajiz (Indonesia)-conceptualize the essence of religion and articulate models of interreligious relations. These tafsirs are selected because they are produced by official state institutions and therefore reflect the ideological orientations and religious policies of their respective governments. Employing a qualitative comparative method, this study combines theoretical hermeneutics to reconstruct the historical meanings of the tafsirs with philosophical hermeneutics to assess their relevance for contemporary Indonesian society. The analysis focuses on three dimensions: methodological identity, the conception of religion in terms of unity and diversity, and approaches to interreligious relations encompassing dialogue, social harmony, and cooperation. The findings demonstrate that although the three tafsirs share fundamental theological premises-such as monotheism, prophetic continuity, and moral universality-they differ significantly in interpretive orientation. Al-Muntakhab reflects a rational-moderate Azhari tradition, al-Muyassar adopts a scripturalist Salafi framework with exclusivist tendencies, while al-Wajiz advances an inclusive and accommodative hermeneutic aligned with Indonesia’s pluralistic ethos and the principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. This study argues that state-sponsored tafsir functions not merely as a religious text but as an ideological instrument that shapes public religious discourse. When oriented toward justice, equality, and interreligious cooperation, such tafsir can contribute meaningfully to religious moderation in plural societies
