Globalization trends have been increasing all over the world and firms are overly emphasizing advanced technologies in the business world for gaining competitive advantages. While disruptive innovation is also a trigger for these firms to adapt and capture lower-end markets. This is a big challenge for the top managers of organizations to derive disruptive innovation by encouraging their subordinates for utilizing the knowledge process capabilities and creating novel ideas. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of knowledge process capabilities with disruptive innovation of the manufacturer and service sector small and medium enterprises. Data was collected from 194 senior managers of manufacturer and service sector SMEs in Pakistan (N = 194) and valid scales were used for measuring all constructs of this study model. SPSS and AMOS programs were used for analyzing the CFA of the measurement model and SEM of the study model. The study results indicated significant and positive relationships between knowledge process capabilities and subordinate creativity and disruptive innovation. Furthermore, subordinate creativity was completely mediated in the relationship between knowledge process capabilities and disruptive innovation. This study contributed to the literature on knowledge management and innovations. This is a cross-sectional study and can guide SMEs to adopt disruptive innovation for capturing low-end markets where lower-stream customers are demanding cheap products/services. Through practicing this study model, practitioners, researchers, and CEOs of SMEs can foster disruptive innovation

Household higher education for sustainable development (HESD) is a good method but it is affected by different social and economic factors. Primary data was collected from 200 respondents from urban households. Data on the household higher education was collected by the respondent by asking a series of questions. For data estimation ordered logistic regression was used. The final findings of our study concluded that age, income, and covidvacine19 have positive coefficients and which indicates a household's higher level of education has a positive impact on sustainable development for creating sustainability in the future, and household family size and landholding have a negative coefficient. Measuring sustainability and the economic progress of household characteristics through higher education is the best way and it indicates a good standard of household lifestyles. Proper policies should be implemented that increase the interest of the government to increase funding for educational institutions at the province level in creating sustainable development in the future in southern Punjab Pakistan

The nature of the linkage between urbanization and carbon dioxide emissions has been a point of concern among researchers, policy makers and environmentalists for the last three decades. Due to the rapid economic growth and social progress in urban areas, a considerable part of rural labor force have migrated to urban areas for jobs, education and health facilities. It results in significant increase in energy requirements in urban areas that have caused several challenges related to ecological pollution. Pakistan is one of the developing nations with a rapid rate of urbanization as well as varying economic growth rate. This study analyzes the relationship between urbanization and carbon dioxide emissions in the presence of institutional quality, foreign direct investment and access to electricity. For analysis purpose, the study uses nonlinear ARDL estimation technique on Pakistani data for the period 1984-2020. The results show that the partial sum of positive/negative changes in urbanization are positively/negatively connected with carbon dioxide emissions. Furthermore, foreign direct investment inflows cause environmental degradation, while access to electricity is positively connected with carbon dioxide emissions in the long run. But, institutional quality considerably declines carbon dioxide emissions in Pakistan. The study concludes that positive part of urbanization has more significant effect than the negative counterpart. The study recommends that there is a need to promote economic friendly energy consumption pattern for improving the quality of environment in Pakistan. &nbsp

A Moderating Role of Hierarchy of Institutional Hypothesis in Debt-Poverty Relationship: Empirical Evidence from OIC Member Countries

    Get PDF
A plethora of studies deciphered the moderating role of institutional performance in debt-growth and growth-poverty relationship but moderating role of hierarchy of institutional hypothesis in debt-poverty link has not been explored yet. This study is an endeavor to bridge this gap by exploring whether hierarchy of institutional hypothesis moderates the debt-poverty link in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries or not during 1996 to 2018. The findings of system GMM estimator disclose that public debt negatively associates with poverty alleviation in OIC member countries. The empirical results backing the notion that the performance of political and economic institutions augment the poverty alleviation. The outcomes also bolster the hypothesis that political institutions are the ones that really modify the course of events. Economic institutions undoubtedly contribute to reducing poverty, but this is only possible in the presence of political institutions. Our study reveals that an average level of political and economic institutional performance lessens the detrimental effects of public debt on poverty alleviation. According to the study's conclusions, the very first Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs), the reduction of poverty by 2030, seems implausible to be achieved given the current tendency of public debt in OIC member countries. In order to reduce the prevalence of poverty in OIC member nations, it is therefore suggested that institutional performance appraisal be linked with a decrease in public debt accumulation. &nbsp

Oil price fluctuations have vital importance in macroeconomic performance. Our study demonstrates the impact of oil price fluctuations on the trade balance and economic growth in Pakistan. We employ a linear autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL) for the period 1970-2018. The results showed that oil price negatively affected the total trade balance in Pakistan other control variables like the real effective exchange rate, real GDP (Home country) and financial development also negatively affected. While real GDP (Foreign country) influenced trade balance positively. In the second model, the results showed that oil price negatively affected economic growth in Pakistan and other control variables like government expenditure, financial development and gross capital formation are positively affected. The study results are useful for policymakers and government officials for making the policies regarding long-run economic growth as well as trade balance improvement

Observation of protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic is difficult for students with special needs particularly for students with hearing impairment (SWHI). The challenges of educating students with hearing impairment have increased after the adoption of the online education system. The purpose behind this study was to highlight the steps taken for the continuation of education in the inclusive and special schools of Punjab during a pandemic. A mixed-method approach was used to conduct this study. Two different groups of the population were taken from 9 divisions of Punjab to derive a suitable sample of this study; teachers of students with hearing impairment (SWHI) and executive members of government related to both special and inclusive schools in Punjab. The teachers from both settings were selected using random sampling. The in-depth interviews of the executive members dealing with special and inclusive schools in Punjab were conducted. The tool of the research was an interview protocol and a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed by applying both qualitative and quantitative methods. This research has highlighted rare practices of online teaching, lack of technological resources, teachers' and students' lack of competency in online teaching, both in the special inclusive schools of the Punjab. A significant difference (p=.000?.05)was found between the special and inclusive schools' efforts made for the continuation of education during a pandemic

Evaluation of Systematic Monetary Influences in Pakistan’s Perspective

    Get PDF
Traditional macroeconomic theories establish relationship among certain macroeconomic variables based on assumptions of perfect competition and resulting flexible prices. Theories based on these assumptions might not hold for developing economies due to imperfect market structure and fragile financial institutions. This study attempts to analyze the quantity theory of money (QTM) and Phillips curve (PC) relationship from long-run perspective for economy of Pakistan. QTM relates complete absorption of money growth effect into inflation, and PC establishes negative relationship between inflation and unemployment. In the long-run, money is assumed to have only inflationary or nominal effect. Therefore, presence of any long-run tradeoff between inflation and unemployment, once inflations is a pure monetary phenomenon in the long-run, cast serious doubts regarding long-run neutrality of money. Autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) modelling approach is opted to analyze long-run impact of money growth on inflation, and long-run effect of inflation on unemployment. The long-run relationship between inflation and unemployment is statistically insignificant for economy of Pakistan. Furthermore, results of this study show that inflation, even in the long-run, does not adjust as theorized in QTM
