Assessing Occupational and Recreational Noise Levels during National Hockey League Games and its Impact on Employees and Attendants
Workers and attendees of sporting events can be exposed to harmful levels of noise during the event, potentially affecting hearing This study assessed the noise exposure of workers and attendees at 12 National Hockey league games at PNC arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. Nine employees were placed on various arena levels while wearing noise dosimeters, with one dosimeter placed in an office in the arena for area noise monitoring. A sound level meter was also placed in a fixed location on the lowest arena level. The employees were recruited by email, and during meetings before the game. The noise levels were compared between rival and non-rival games, and between arena levels. The results from the sound level meter showed that the highest average noise level was at Game 1 (89.2 ± 5.3 dBA), while the lowest average was at Game 4 (83.2 ± 7.4 dBA), both of which were non-rival games. The results from personal monitoring showed that Game 1 (88.1 ± 2.0 dBA), Game 4 (85.1 ± 2.7 dBA), and Game 12 (85.1 ± 5.9 dBA) had 8-hr TWAs exceeding the ACGIH TLV of 85 dBA. It also showed that the 8-hr TWAs in all the games did not exceed the OSHA PEL of 90 dBA. The 8-hr TWAs for non-rival games for both ACGIH and OSHA PEL (83.6 ± 2.6 dBA and 76.4 ± 3.6 dBA, respectively) were not significantly different (t= -0.72, p=0.48 and t= -1.26, p=0.21, respectively) from those of rival games (83.0 ± 1.8 dBA and 75.1 ± 2.0 dBA, respectively). The greatest difference between the rival and non-rival games was observed on the noise dose% for both OSHA PEL and ACGIH, with the OSHA noise dose% of 19.2% for non-rival games and 15.4% for rival games. Moreover, the ACGIH noise dose% for the non-rival games was 98.5% and that of the rival games was 89.7%. However, such differences for both ACGIH and OSHA PEL noise doses were not significant (t= -0.47, p=0.64 and t= -1.34, p=0.18, respectively). The ACGIH Lavg for the non-rival games (90.1 ± 2.0 dBA) was not significantly different (t= -0.81, p=0.42) from that of the rival games (89.6 ± 1.4 dBA). Similarly, the OSHA PEL Lavg for the rival games (81.7 ± 1.6 dBA) was not significantly different (t= -1.39, p=0.17) from that of the non-rival games (82.9 ± 3.0 dBA). Level 2 of the arena had the highest ACGIH Lavg of 91.1 ± 5.8 dBA. The office has the lowest ACGIH Lavg (86.5 ± 1.7 dBA). The ACGIH TWA for the office was 79.4 ± 3.7 dBA. For the OSHA PEL, level 1 has the highest Lavg level of 83.9 ± 3.9 dBA and a TWA of 77.4 ± 4.4 dBA. The office level was the lowest OSHA PEL Lavg of 76.4 ± 4.1 dBA and the lowest TWA of 69.3 ± 6.1 dBA. Level 2 had the highest maximum noise level of 106.7 ± 6.8 dB while the office had the lowest maximum level of 100.5 ± 3.2 dB. Findings of this study will be beneficial to identify recommended controls for noise exposure for workers and attendees, such as worker rotation and wearing hearing protection

Does Informal Workplace Learning Contribute to Burnout and Self Undermining? The Moderating Role of Negative Job-Related Affect and Mindsets
The present research study examined informal workplace learning (IWL) in the context of the Job Demands-Resources Model, and its relationship with the following variables: general self-efficacy (GSE), job crafting (JC), learning goal orientation (LGO), stress-debilitating mindset (SDM), negative job-related affect (NJA), job burnout (B), and self-undermining (SU). The focus of the present study is on IWL and how it may relate to negative health outcomes. In Study 1, hierarchical regression analyses were used to examine JC, GSE, and LGO as antecedents to IWL, and LGO was examined a moderator in the JC-IWL and GSE-IWL relationships. In the quantitative portion of Study 2, hierarchical regression analyses were used to examine B and SU as outcomes of IWL, and the moderating roles of SDM and NJA were also examined in the IWL-B and IWL-SU relationships. The qualitative portion of Study 2 consisted of four open-ended survey questions designed to tease out aspects of IWL, and how often these may contribute to, or be associated with, negative health outcomes. Study 1 results showed that household income, JC, LGO, and GSE significantly predicted IWL. Moreover, LGO moderated the relationships JC-IWL and GSE-IWL. Study 2 results showed that job tenure, SDM, and NJA significantly predicted B, and SDM was found to significantly moderate the relationship IWL-B but only at lower levels of SDM. On the other hand, when SU was the outcome, age, NJA, and internal locus of control emerged as significant predictors. No interaction effects were found when the outcome was SU. Findings from the qualitative portion of Study 2 indicated several ways in which practitioners could work towards mitigating negative health outcomes by reducing frustrating aspects of IWL. Implications for practitioners and researchers include gaining a more nuanced perspective of learning in the workplace and stress outcomes such that learning and motivation to learn should not always only be expected to produce more positive outcomes
Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Residential Furnace Performance with Blends of Natural Gas and Green Hydrogen
In this study, the impact of hydrogen supplementation on residential furnace performance is examined by doing both experiments and computer simulations. The experimental work examines the performance of furnaces under 15% blends of hydrogen and natural gas. The results reveal flame temperature, wall temperature, heat flux, average air flow temperature, heat transfer, combustion efficiency, and emission gas analysis for furnaces operating under 15% blends of hydrogen and natural gas. Experimental results indicate that hydrogen addition has the potential to enhance thermal intensity but may lead to decreased heat release and thermal energy transfer within the furnace structure at higher concentrations. Examination of emission gas analysis data provides further insights, with the 15% hydrogen blend exhibiting slightly lower emission levels compared to the 0% hydrogen condition, indicating reduced emissions of pollutants such as CO, NO, and NOx. This reduction underscores the environmental benefits of hydrogen addition and its potential contribution to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from residential heating systems. Meanwhile, the numerical part focuses on the combustion characteristics of hydrogen-enriched natural gas blends, illustrating the effects of hydrogen concentration on maximum flame temperature and combustion efficiency. The addition of hydrogen to natural gas introduces changes in the composition of the fuel mixture, impacting combustion characteristics. The initial increase in the maximum flame temperature, up to a 25% hydrogen concentration, indicates a positive influence on the combustion process. Findings suggest an optimal threshold for hydrogen concentration to achieve peak combustion efficiency, beyond which diminishing returns are observed due to alterations in flame stability. This study highlights the importance of optimizing hydrogen concentration in natural gas blends to maximize combustion efficiency and contribute to a sustainable energy future
Understanding the Role of Presidential Approval on Voter Turnout and the Understanding the Patterned Coalition that Exist in Uneducated White Individuals
Understanding why individuals vote at the rates they do, along with understanding which parties these voters will ultimately decide to cast their vote for has been a long discussion in political research. This study looks to understand and test whether presidential approval ratings have a direct correlation with increasing voter turnout throughout Presidential Elections. The study has results that provide a direct answer to that proposed correlation. Another question this study seeks to understand is what political ideology white individuals who have not obtained a high school diploma vote for and what leads to that decision. This study uses data from the American National Election Studies that dates to the 1964 Presidential Election that conducts a regression model that allows readers to understand the correlation between white uneducated individuals and which party they ultimately vote for in Presidential Elections

My art series, "Futurity" celebrates the richness of color, translucency, reflectivity, curvilinear geometry, and high craftsmanship. Within these low-relief works, dimension, depth, and mirrored luminosity arise from an ongoing dialogue between digital design and human craftsmanship. The objective is to make both approaches more visible by setting up a dichotomy. The act of creating, working with my hands, and transforming basic materials feels akin to alchemy. The hope is that the result is something greater than the sum of its parts. I aim for a level of visual experience in my work that can only come from precise fabrication, carefully layered surface finish, and sumptuous hand-crafted detail. The abundance of beauty and love in my surroundings inspires an earnest endeavor to embody these sentiments. My thesis is influenced by Art Nouveau, Mid-Century Modern, and the Light and Space art movements; in tandem with contemporary makers using both digital and handcrafted skill sets

Improving Nurse Efficiency through Flowsheet Macros
Nurses report that the documentation burden is significant. This project proposed a solution to reduce documentation burden for nurses. Flowsheet macros is a new technology solution that fills in electronic health record (EHR) flowsheet documentation in one click. This allows nurses to spend less time documenting and more time at the bedside with the patient. Macros can also be personalized by nurses to allow for repeatable documentation to be completed more efficiently. Macros have been used by other disciplines to reduce documentation time. Implementing flowsheet macros reduced flowsheet documentation time for nurses in a step-down unit by 17.77%.Wendy LeutgensD.N.P

Two of these authors were participants of the Nutrition in Medicine Summit held by ACGME, AAMC, and ACOM, written several months later and hoping to understand if the Summit and the White House Conferenceon Nutrition, Hunger and Health stimulated any action.The landscape of nutrition education within the United States health care system has a rich history although the impact remains limited. This paper explores various change drivers to address the need for increased value for incorporating knowledge of food and nutrition into health professions education. Key initiatives discussed include the White House National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, the Medical Nutrition Education Summit and recent Food Is Medicine Summits which have contributed to reshaping healthcare priorities. This paper also underscores the relevance of value-based care and interprofessional collaboration in addressing the nation’s nutrition-related challenges. With acknowledgement of persistent barriers to the effective integration of nutrition education across the medical curricula continuum, the paper recognizes the historical perspectives that have contributed to today’s landscape. It also explores strategies proposed to enhance medical nutrition education, including funding sources, curriculum development, competency frameworks, culinary medicine programs and legislation. The authors emphasize the need for sustained advocacy, innovative and intentional curriculum design, and interprofessional collaboration to equip health care professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively address the mounting burden of diet-related diseases today.non
