Assessment of Access of Reading Resources in Bolstering Extensive Reading Habits and Composition Writing Skills in Secondary Schools in Kenya
Reading resources in schools can help in inculcating the reading culture and reading proficiency amongst students. This may help learners develop rational skills that are crucial in dealing with the current unpredictable and dynamic world. There has been a concern from educationist and researchers about the declining reading interest among secondary school learners in Kenya and one of the causes could be unavailability of reading resources amongst other determiners. This study was prompted by the lack of adequate reading resources that can bolster and sustain reading interest among secondary schools learners in Laikipia County in Kenya. The study therefore sought to establish whether there existed any relationship between availability and access of extensive reading resources and development of extensive reading habits evidenced in composition writing amongst learners. The study was guided by Piaget's (1952)) Schema Theory. The study used descriptive survey research design. Fifteen secondary schools in Laikipia County were sampled using proportional stratified sampling technique in five sub-counties across the county. Purposive sampling was used to sample 30 out of 80 (37.5%) teachers of English language. A Simple random sampling technique was used to sample 327 students out of appproximately 2670 students (12.24%) in form 2 and 3 in the County. The research instruments used for data collection included: questionnaire for students, interview guides for teachers and composition writing test. A pilot study of the instruments was done to ensure their validity and reliability in a co-educational secondary school in the neighbouring county that was not involved in the study. The reliability of the questionnaire and interview guide was estimated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient as 0.871 which met the recommended threshold of 0.7 and above. Analysis of data was done using descriptive statistics such as frequency, tables and percentages. T-test was done at 95% confidence level (F(2) = 80.933, P = .001) to establish whether there was statistically significance difference between availability of reading resources and development of extensive reading habits captured in composition writing mean scores of different categories of school using (SPSS) version 17. Qualitative data were organized according to the study themes and presented descriptively on the basis of the study objective. It was established that learners in secondary schools with adequate extensive reading resources performed better in composition writing than those who did not. Therefore, it was established that inadequate supply of reading resources in schools had a negative impact on development of reading interest amongst learners. The study recommended that schools should collaborate with various stakeholders to solicit reading resources so as to promote access of reading materials and reading culture in schools and consequently improve learners’ composition writing skills
Socio-cultural practicality of Oromo People as Represented in Novel
The main objective of this study is to demonstrate how Gadisa Biru the authore of the novel `Kuusaa Gadoo` symbolize Oromo`s socio-cultural issues in a representative way in the life of characters and the major themes of the novel. The study is qualitative research, it involves textual analysis method together with relevant conceptual tools and frameworks and therefore it is analytical. Furthermore, the data used for the research is taken from primary source which is a novel entitled `Kuusaa Gadoo`. From the novel different extracts are taken based on the research questions. Extracts used as a data were classified under each topic and analyzed using textual analysis methods and realism theory. Then, the analysis and discussion were undertaken by using the concept of scholars to make the research more visible and logical. As a philosophy of realism theory, realism portrays the world as it really appears. Therefore, to evaluate the realistic representations of different agenda of the research, it is crucial to bring the idea in the text to the actual world. From the analysis and discussion made it is found that, in `Kuusaa Gadoo`, all events and episodes were realized in the novel without any fantasy and extraordinary overstatement. The socio-cultural situations realized in a novel `Kuusaa Gadoo`, is pictured in a similar way of Oromo people`s life style of the Derg regime. Even though the dictatorial government appreciated assimilation, the Oromos reserved their socio-cultural activities and practiced as much as possible. Among the socio-cultural elements reflected in the novel we can list friendship, confer, wedding and arbitration as major ones. In general, the novel `Kuusaa Gadoo` reflects the real socio-cultural situation of Oromo peoples during the Derg regime and the author critically perceived the actual picture of the society`s life and represented reasonably

Characterization of Highly Weathered Soils
Repositioning the Funding of Adult and Non-formal Education (ANFE) in Anambra State, Nigeria.
The need for repositioning the funding of adult and non-formal education (ANFE) in Anambra State cannot be overlooked as manpower and material resources needed for such programs can be acquired when there is adequate funding. The study focused on the repositioning the funding of ANFE in Anambra State. Descriptive survey research design was adopted in this study, guided by three research questions. The population of the study comprised 331 instructors in all the government-owned adult education centres in Anambra State. There was no sampling because the population was manageable. Questionnaire was the instrument for data collection which was validated by two experts in the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Cronbach Alpha was used to determine the internal consistency of the instrument and the overall reliability coefficient of 0.79 was obtained. Mean statistics was used to answer the research questions. The findings indicated that ANFE is funded to a low extent in Anambra State. The study also revealed that some of the challenges confronting ANFE in Anambra State include: difficulties in identifying budget meant for ANFE, lack of information on funding by individuals, inadequate funding by the government, among others. The study further showed that the strategies to be adopted in repositioning the funding of ANFE in Anambra State are: distinct budget allocation by federal and state government for ANFE, effective utilization of fund accruing to ANFE, assisting of ANFE through regular funding by international bodies and NGOs, among others. Conclusion was drawn and the study recommended that governments both federal and state should provide adequate support to ANFE, especially through proper funding and adequate monitoring of such funds
Social-cultural and educational practices: is the university prepared for the social question of aging?
We are living a period of demographic increase in the elderly population in Brazil and worldwide. Among the main causes are the decrease in infant and elderly mortality due to medical scientific achievements. This makes society and families increasingly live in their family and institutional spaces with older people. Situations such as the large concentration of people in urban centers, the liquid, individualistic, hedonistic and presentist society reflect as characteristics for the life of the elderly population, which wants to take advantage of the opportunities that life can provide, living in spaces public with different generations. In this sense, we understand that population aging has become a pressing social issue, which institutions such as the University, for example, have an obligation to account, especially in the sense of reflection, research in the area and opportunities for training / qualification for both the elderly as for the professionals who will work with this audience
School Climate in the Brazilian school context: an integrative literature review
The school establishes its educational practices through historical and social biases, existing outside and inside it. The present study demonstrated the continuous debate about the school context, its organization, management and dynamism, through an integrative literature review. The purpose of the research is to learn a little more about the school climate in the Brazilian educational context and what the scientific literature has been producing on the subject. The school climate has been studied for a few years, but only in recent years, through practical perspectives found in the studies, has is become possible to analyze the “reality” of the school climate in a more subjective way, exploring the concept from the perception of students as protagonists of their education. The school climate, therefore, is understood as a complex and comprehensive variable of affective, social and cognitive aspects that influence a school pedagogical practice. Notably, the articles mentioned in this study corroborate that the educational results are strongly influenced by the school climate. The positive or negative impact, depending on the climate that is established, has as a consequence the academic performance referenced by the teaching and learning process
Biomechanical Behavior of Zirconia Post and Core In vitro: a Systematic Review
Restoration of endodontically treated teeth is a common clinical practice which is being improved constantly. One piece zirconia post and cores are being introduced to dental treatments routine and offers aesthetic approach in restoring severely damaged teeth. However the biomechanical properties of such restorations remain unclear. The purpose of this systematic review was to describe biomechanical properties of zirconia post and cores and put them in a perspective with more conventional restorations. An electronic search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane Library and Clinical Key databases for in vitro studies dating up to October 2019. Clinical studies and case reports were excluded.
Results: a total of 8 articles were included in a systematic review, consisting of 4 in vitro studies and 4 finite element analysis (FEA). Several evaluation parameters were set: zirconia post and core fractural resistance comparison with metal and prefabricated post systems, stress distribution in teeth restored with zirconia post and cores.
Conclusions: zirconia post and core could be a promising restoration for anterior teeth where aesthetic demand is high. It showed similar in vitro biomechanical behavior and fractural resistance to gold alloy restorations, although such findings only show a tendency and further clinical investigation is needed.
Keywords: zirconia post and core, prosthetic dentistry, biomechanical behavior

Produced Water: An overview of treatment technologies
Produced water is one of the single most significant waste streams in the oil and gas industry, and because it is a residue of complex chemical composition, it can't be simply discarded in the environment, it should receive appropriate treatments before. This paper presents a mapping of the quantitative evolution, referring to the leading publications on the study of water produced with a focus on treatments. A bibliometric method was then adopted to build a structured database with the selected articles and then analyzed the number of publications, countries, areas of impact, authors, keywords, periodicals, and affiliations. The thematic has proved to be an essential line of research over the years. The analysis was considered in the period between 1969 and 2017. Several indicators were observed regarding the development of academic and technological research on water produced as well as its treatment processes. The study was performed in the Scopus database search engine to gather data, and 2434 documents were identified, with 851 articles investigated more specifically. This paper highlights the need for constant future studies about the produced water to minimize not only pollution but also reduce operating costs
