The use of conflict mediation by the Sergipe River Basin Committee as a tool for implementing decentralised water resource management
No full textParallel to the growing demand for multiple uses of water, conflicts between its users appear, contributing to the increase in the number of cases submitted to the Judiciary. This study aimed at analyzing the existence of mediation as a method of resolving possible conflicts related to water resources in the Sergipe River Basin. The qualitative approach research was developed based on a bibliographic survey, by means of consultations with books, pertinent legislation, articles in scientific and non-scientific journals and, documental, through the analysis of the minutes of the meetings of the Sergipe River Basin Committee, its Internal Regulations and the Climatological Report that analyses the rainfall variability by regions in Sergipe, from 2000 to 2017. The results revealed that despite moving towards recognizing mediation as a method for resolving conflicts, the Committee faced several difficulties in carrying out decentralized management of water resources, especially with regard to the resolution of water disputes. Possible solutions to some of the problems faced by the Committee can be pointed out, such as training its members in water resource management and conflict management, in addition to making them aware of participating frequently in Committee meetings and also stimulating the participation of the population in these meetings
Endocannabinoid system: conceptual parameters, history and therapeutic possibilities
No full textAmong the drugs considered illicit in the West, the Cannabis sativa plant is the most consumed: around 4% of the adult population, 10% of these users are in a situation of dependence. However, the medicinal use of this herb dates back to the early days of the emergence of our own species: some anthropologists theorize that some of the genus Homo has progressed in the struggle for survival with other hominids precisely because of the advanced knowledge – kept to the proper proportions – it possessed of plants like Cannabis. Millennia later, science – even focusing intensely on the chemical characterization of its more than 530 bioactive components – was still not able to generate verifiable hypotheses in order to explain two of the most remarkable characteristics of the recreational use of this plant: because small chemical changes potentiated the effect of the drug up to 100 times and, mainly, because it would be virtually impossible for an individual to suffer a lethal overdose of the substance. To overcome this paradigm, some compounds derived from delta-ninetetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC) - the main component of cannabis – were radioactively marked in an experimental study and, after their induction, it was discovered that they had tropism by brain membranes and that their binding was saturated and stereosleptic. Such evidence strongly suggested the existence of endogenous receptors for the drug and it was these findings that led to the discovery of the Endocanabinoid System (SEC): a physiological apparatus made up of endogenous receptors and binders, philogenetically conserved, responsible for several controls related to neuronal homeostasis
Youths and their future perspectives: a systematization of experiences
No full textThis text was written from a workshop with young people from the city of Novo Hamburgo in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. We problematized the youths and their perspectives of future in an interface of education and work. The study uses the methodology of systematization of experiences to analyze the practices with eight young people in the workshop "Young People in Action" by approaching the themes: future, education and work and thus identify which elements are determinant for creating expectations for the future. The theoretical framework has an important contribution from popular education and sociology. We found that: the school and the family are structural tests that circumscribe the future expectations of young people; the young ones also presented dissonance in their tendencies as to what believe or act and they do not seem to have the habit of making plans about the future. The systematization of experiences showed to be very powerful, since it allows a constant movement of teaching and learning through practice
Diagnosis of the Institutionalization of Corporate Social Responsibility in Companies in the Metropolitan Area of Campinas – SP, Brazil
No full textThis article presents the diagnosis of the institutionalization of Corporate Social Responsibility in companies in the Metropolitan Area of Campinas – São Paulo, Brazil. The research has a qualitative approach and an exploratory-descriptive objective. Data collection is documentary and descriptive data is analyzed inductively using the content analysis technique. The survey of 16 companies concludes that social actions are focused on education and income generation, concentrated on their field of activity, being carried out in partnership with social institutions and volunteering actions. However, there are problems regarding the practice of volunteering, the use of non-standardized reports, and the lack of targeting actions with the SDGs. Most companies (57%) are in the intermediate stage regarding the institutionalization of CSR
Technology-Enhanced Learning and Teaching in COVID-19 Era: Challenges and Recommendations
No full textTechnology-enhanced learning and teaching methods have been in literature and for many years now. Many educational institutes all over the world have been using these methods to deliver their programs and degrees. Nevertheless, some institutes are not very keen on using technology in some disciplines, and deliver their programs in a traditional way for a number of reasons, especially if these have been successful and well-attended (i.e. popular) by students. In the current era, where COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted every corner of our life including higher education, technology has become a critical success factor to reduce the negative impact of this pandemic. Accordingly, it is now no longer an option to opt out from using technology in learning and teaching. This doesn’t just refer to providing (dumping) contents to students digitally, but to facilitate learning and deliver engaging and highly interactive experience to compensate for lack of face-to-face interaction between the students and their teachers and also amongst the students themselves. The use of technology in education due to COVID-19 pandemic, however, has confronted by a number of challenges. In some cases, the focus was shifted to the contents (documents, videos…etc.) rather than interactivity and student engagement. Furthermore, the students were highly overwhelmed with contents in a short period of time, which has caused anxiety, dissatisfaction and performance issues. In this paper, examples of teaching methods based on the use of technology that are employed during the lockdown period are provided. Moreover, a number of subsequent challenges due to current situation are discussed, and recommendations for implementation and best practice are shared. Also a proposal for a flipped delivery model to move forward is provided and discussed. Anecdotal student feedback has shown that the used methods and techniques were really helpful and have boosted student learning and enthusiasm in this difficult time.  
Process of Appropriating Mathematical Concepts Mediated by Teaching Activity
No full textGiven the importance of Teaching Orientation Activity (AOE) as an articulated set of teachers' intentionality with the possibility of promoting mathematical theoretical-scientific thinking, the purpose of this study is to analyze the process of appropriation of mathematical concepts of teaching elementar school teachers, inserted in a project of continuous formation in the perspective of Historical-Cultural Theory / Activity Theory. Regarding the process of apprehension of the investigated phenomenon, the historical logical movement of the concepts was based, based on the assumptions of Historical and Dialectical Materialism, advocated by Karl Marx. The evidence was being evidenced, especially through the preparation and development of AOE by teachers participating in continuing education, which allowed us to go beyond the appearance and fossilization of the process of appropriation of concepts, apprehending the historical mediations that comprised the phenomenon under investigation . On the techniques of data production, field observations, video recordings of the formative meetings and reflective session were worked on. It was adopted as an analytical procedure, the method of deployment in units of analysis proposed by Vigotski and complemented by the idea of "episodes" of learning (MOURA, 2004). It was observed that the teachers during the experience with the AOE, in a dialectical movement, little by little, were identifying different elements of the problem situations, commonly worked in the classroom, subsidized by formal logic. Thus, they acquire a level of awareness in the sense that as teachers, the need must be created, as well as the objective and subjective reasons and conditions for students to enter into learning activity

Este estudo apresenta resultados favoráveis ao uso desse aplicativo, pois incentivo o engajamento em sala de aula, motivado pelo uso dessa tecnologia, bem como o aumento da atenção na ausência de elementos distrativos em uma lista com várias opções de exercícios

The article is based on a conducted experiment in which a group of American students were put together to converse freely under the topic of social media. The same experiment was replicated with a group of Moroccan students. Each group used their native language (Moroccan Arabic for Moroccans and American English for Americans). The results are drawn from the observations made by the researcher during the experiment for each group discussion. The experiment was audio taped which allowed the researcher to make observations after the experiment
Desinent Socio-Environmental Conflict of Mineral Coal Extraction Liabilities in the Southern Carbonifera Region of Santa Catarina State
No full textThe objective of this work was to analyze the socio-environmental conflict that develops in the community of Rio Carvão, in the municipality of Urussanga, in the south of the State of Santa Catarina. The conflict involves residents of the community and the company UM Urussanga Minérios Ltda. In the locality there are environmental liabilities arising from the activity of mining coal carried out in the past, currently the atmospheric pollution caused by the emission of gases from the processing of coal is directly impacting the lives of residents. The methodology used was based on historicity, temporality, characterization and context, seeking to establish a dialogue with the environmental and social sciences. It was identified that the social actors of the conflict are the Rio Carvão Community Association versus the UM company, with the involvement of the Public Ministry and the municipal government, represented by the city council of Urussanga. The conflict has historical origins in the use and appropriation of natural resources, enhanced by the increase in the emission of gases by the company that found itself in the community due to the harmful way it has been developing its activities

CONCLUSION
the significant predicament of the COVID 19 pandemic is towards the ICU community. As a pre-emptive effort, hospital administrators, policymakers, and critical care practitioners have to work on strategies that hasten an organization is bracing itself in the future potentiality of an overwhelming surge of critically ill patients. The cornerstones for future-readiness to coherent collaboration at the local, regional, national, and international levels, focusing on high-quality research, evidence-based practice, sharing data and resources, and ethical integrity in the face of unprecedented challenges likely will be a key to the success of these efforts
