Intellectual Property and Innovation as a Way to Enable Technological Development in the Agribusiness Sector: a meta-analysis
No full textThis article deals with intellectual property, the process of innovation and technological development in the agribusiness sector, and aims to identify and understand the relationship between these themes, in order to know whether intellectual property and innovation are able to foster technological development in this sector. The methodology is meta-analysis, of quantitative approach, preceded by bibliometry and systematic review. The overall result shows that there is a positively high correlation between intellectual property, innovation and technological development in the agribusiness sector, as the result of the meta-analysis was a Pearson's r value of 0.55
600 days of Battle: New Zealand (NZ) performance and practices that saved lives against Covid-19
No full textAccording to Silva (2020b), among 108 well–evaluated countries, NZ was the eighth best nation during 180 days of battle against Covid-19, and one year after that publication, on 29th October, 2021, about 5,004,0026 lives were officially lost by Covid–19, while NZ only reported 28 deaths (WORLDOMETERS, 2021). To complement Gomes da Silva (2020) and Silva (2020a; 2020b; 2021a; 2021b) researches, the main aim of this article is to investigate the NZ performance and management practices used to save lives against Covid-19. It uses an online questionnaire with descriptive, bibliographic and documentary approaches to identify management practices, including cultural practices and Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs) adopted during the pandemic. The main performance is found by using the Fatality Total Index and Resilience Index to compare NZ's performance with 43 countries during 600 days of battle. As a result: 1) among the 44 countries, NZ was the most resilient and the second (FTI600=0.0165) best-best performer, after China (0.0066); 2) among 131 respondents living in NZ, 34.35% don´t believe that cultural practices are decisive for the low rate of Covid–19 death, while 65.65% believe in that. From those that believe, the most decisive cultural practices were wash hands, not hug in public, and not shake hands; 3) for 131 respondents, the ten main policy measures adopted by the National Government that saved lives against the virus are international travel control, public event cancellations, restriction on internal movement, public information campaigns, schools closures, support the expansion of testing system, wage subsidies for workers, workplace closures, increase the medical and personal equipment capacity, and effective public-private collaboration. At the final, lessons are provided from 360 policies, measures, programs, projects, acts/regulations, innovative products/services identified, with the majority led by the Public Sector (66.7%), followed by Corporations (11.4%), Universities (8.9%), Others (8.3%), and Startups (4.7%)

Association between emotions and General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) among insurance expatriates in Juba, South Sudan
No full textThis aimed at exploring the association between emotions and General Anxiety Disorder (GAD). The study was carried out among insurance expatriates in Juba, South Sudan between September 2020 and July 2021. A sample size of 66 insurance expatriates participated in the study. The findings indicated that there was a significant effect of emotions on general anxiety disorder at the p<.05 [F(1, 55) = 8.543, p = 0.005]. This demonstrates that emotions determine general anxiety disorder such that the higher the emotions, the higher the general anxiety disorder. Implications of these findings for clinical practice is discussed

Evaluation of the quality of wood from naturally fallen tree for the development of products in Design
No full textThe sustainable use of forest resources in the Amazon is one of the precautions attributed to Conservation Units of sustainable use, and among them, the RESEX Auati-Paraná stands out in this study. In this area, a large volume of naturally fallen trees of various species belonging to different diametric classes were inventoried, with a higher incidence of trees with small diameter. Therefore, it is important to highlight the potential use of this raw material for development high value-added products as a sustainable income generation opportunity for community members. Thus, the objective of this research was to assess the quality of naturally fallen species through the development of products with a fine finish through technical design projects. For this, was used, defining the types of products and species (Micrandropsis scleroxylon and Simarouba amara) for the study, characterizing them, surveying the cultural aspects of the RESEX, manufacture of physical products prototypes and analyzing the quality of the wood workability during machining processes. The results obtained through the design projects, demonstrated the quality and feasibility of using wood from naturally fallen trees for the manufacture of products, being able to be explored as a sustainable alternative to generate economic benefits to the community through the valorization of such natural resources of the Amazon rainforest
Teaching practice for pandemic times and the empowerment of audiovisual didactic sequences
No full textClosed gates and students away from classrooms consist of scenarios with thou- sands of schools in different countries, showing all the zeal we must have with teaching, which was opened wide by the indirect relationship between Education and Coronavirus. It is a frightening and troubling panorama, not only in health but also in teaching impacts. The learning process can and should hap- pen outside the classroom, and the pandemic accelerated this understanding. Technology support is fundamental for this to happen, eliminating any physical or geographical barrier of communication and interaction. However, the technological tools go further. Educational technologies are the leading solution to our situation and have the most significant potential for teaching children and young people. It is an opportunity to reframe Education and think of more effective ways to develop new children and young people. However, there is no ready recipe. Several frameworks for creating can guide audiovisual didactic sequences are not entirely descriptive in practice, applicability, or evaluation. Therefore, this work has its starting point the instructional design to supply this development, with other frameworks within its phases, allowing a better understanding of the objectives and greater ease in developing the instructional material. The results show that students well accept this new proposal
Advocacy Communication and The Child Trafficking Situation in Kenya: The Case of Mathare Constituency Primary Schools
No full textChild trafficking is one of the leading crimes in Kenya. The purpose of this study therefore was to look at the efficacy of advocacy communication when it comes to addressing the complications of child trafficking in society. The study focus was Mathare constituency in Nairobi County. This is because there are many child trafficking cases from Mathare constituency that have been reported over the years causing a number of humanitarian organizations, who work with schools and community groups, to step in and address the issue. A purposive sample of 240 teacher respondents and 16 facilitators was selected as per Yamane’s formula while convergent parallel mixed methods design was used for data collection and analysis. The study established that videos and pictorials were the most popular advocacy methods used, with a 100 percent respondent rate while 98 percent observed that through advocacy, humanitarian organizations were making a difference in countering child trafficking. The study established also that all (100%) of the facilitators agreed that the stakeholders directly involved with children did contribute to the fight against child trafficking. The study concluded that integrated communication was adopted by facilitators and that the advocacy communication methods used were effective. The study recommends involvement of key stakeholders’ right from the planning stage for effectiveness. A recommendation of the study is that further investigations be done from the viewpoints of the children, parents and the local administration
