The Inuit Searching for “Place” in The Ice Whale
Place theory is an emerging theory in the field of ecological criticism, emphasizing the psychological attachment, emotional connection, and self-identification of people to specific natural areas. The Inuit in Jean Craighead George’s The Ice Whale are deeply connected to the Arctic Ocean, and the Inuit region becomes a “place” about where the “self” is. Technological violence that some humans have inflicted on nature and the excessive pursuit of the economy has destroyed the marine ecology and plunged the Inuit into a state of “non-place.” The author reconstructs the ”place” by imagination, aiming to arouse children’s love for the ecological environment through the beautiful conception and call for the construction of a community of shared future for mankind
The Legacy of Early Translation Theory: Challenges and Contemporary Perspectives
This article critically examines the origins of translation theory, underscoring the essential role of historical context in understanding contemporary debates and methodologies. It delves into foundational intellectual confrontations, such as those between the followers of D’Ablancourt and the Jansenist pedagogues of Port-Royal, which continue to inform current discussions on fidelity, creativity, and the problem of untranslatability. The paper advocates for a diachronic approach to translation theory, recognizing the lasting influence of early theorists like De Méziriac and Tytler on the field. By revisiting these historical intellectual exchanges, the article demonstrates how enduring issues related to translation’s nature—whether as a science, an art, or a practice—continue to shape modern translation studies, influencing contemporary methodologies such as skopos theory and interpretive frameworks
Shifting Narratives: Gender in Moroccan Cinema
This paper endeavours to examine four cinematic works crafted by directors from Morocco, specifically Farida Benlyazid’s Women’s Wiles (1999), Yasmine Kassari’s The Dormant Baby (2004), Latif Lahlou’s Samira’s Garden (2007), and Hamid Zoughi’s Kharboucha (2008). Through the lenses of feminist theory and discourse analysis, this exploration delves into how contemporary Moroccan cinema has been reshaping the narratives surrounding femininity and masculinity. This cinema has not merely offered new avenues for representation to women directors; it has profoundly challenged and transformed conventional portrayals in film production. The Moroccan filmmakers in question emerge as active agents in challenging local cultural and social limitations, striving to play a crucial role in the “liberation” of women while also portraying masculinity in a state of turmoil
The Effect of Qassama in Proving Murders of Unknown Killers
This study aims to investigate the effect of Qassama in proving murders of unknown killers. It is used to prove the murder of unknown killers if the victim is found in mysterious circumstances. The study deals with: the meaning of Qassama, its legitimacy, the wisdom of its legislation, its formula, and is itevidence of proof or denial? Does it require retaliation or blood money? The conditions for itsobligation, and who swears it? This is for the purpose of knowing the usefulness of Qassama in provingmurders of unknown killers. The study followed the analytical inductive approach, and the study cameout with the following: 1-God Almighty has honored man, and charged him with the responsibility of building theuniverse, and has forbidden his killing in all heavenly laws except with right. 2- Death is the fate of all creatures and nothing will remain in this universe except Allah, theAlmighty, the Creator of everything. Death is inevitable, a predetermined term, and apredestined place from which no creature can escape or flee, wherever it may be. However, death by the action of an agent is what the Sharia has forbidden and prohibited. 3-Islamic Sharia has paid great attention to human life and has guaranteed him the guarantees, controls, and rules that enable him to live with his brother in this universe in order to developit. Therefore, it has prohibited killing him except for a just cause. 4- Although crimes are generally proven by general methods of proof, murder crimes are unique among other crimes in a specific type of proof, which is the oath in murder crimes where thekiller is unknown, because the blood of an innocent human being is not wasted.5- Using Qasama as a special evidence contributes greatly to resolving murder cases that are registered against unknown persons in the records of the Public Prosecution, the Police andthe Judiciary.6- Using Qasama as a special evidence in murder cases where the killer is unknown contributes greatly to fighting crime because the perpetrator does not escape punishment. Based on these results, the study recommended the following: 1- Informing and educating society about the sanctity of human blood, and reminding them ofthe worldly and otherworldly punishments, in addition to the seriousness of this crime, askilling one person leads to killing a group. 2- Informing and educating society that whoever contributed to uncovering the killers hascontributed to the stability of society. 3- Informing and educating society that whoever contributed to extinguishing the sedition of murder is as if he contributed to reviving all people.4- The necessity of including (Qasama) in the legislation and laws of proof alongside general methods of proof, due to its importance in uncovering the killers in a way that is the easiestamong the general methods of proof

Predicting and Monitoring Anxiety and Depression: Advanced Machine Learning Techniques for Mental Health Analysis
Anxiety and depression are considered among the most prevailing mental illnesses; they affect millions in the USA and worldwide. Besides being highly prevalent, these conditions have major implications for individuals and American society as a whole. The prime objective of this research project was to design and evaluate advanced machine learning methodologies for the monitoring and prediction of anxiety and depression. The rise in recent advances in Machine Learning and AI technologies has unleashed tremendous potential in the diagnosis and monitoring of mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. Predictive models, powered by Machine Learning algorithms, process vast amounts of data and detect patterns that might have evaded human clinicians. This dataset for the current research project was retrieved from the website kaggle.com and shared publicly with anyone by the Harvard Data Verse repository. The dataset contained behavioral, psychophysiological, and demographic data that were collected from 593 participants aged 18-35 years for the prediction of anxiety and depression disorder risk. For this study, three machine learning algorithms were deployed: Logistic Regression, XG-Boost, and Random Forest. To assess and evaluate the performance of the algorithms, two key performance evaluation metrics were utilized MSE & R-squared. By reviewing the performance of the aforementioned three machine learning models, Linear Regression, Random Forest Regressor, and XG-Boost Regressor, using evaluation metrics MSE and R-squared are compared in a tabular form. Retrospectively, all three models performed remarkably well, with very low MSE values and R-squared values close to 1. Linear Regression marginally outperformed the others, but all models were successful in predicting the anxiety or depression indicator accurately. The proposed models are valid and reliable models for predicting mental health, therefore enabling the identification of at-risk individuals well in advance, allowing early intervention to prevent symptom onsets or advancements in their course and thus improve overall outcomes

Visualizing Wound Healing: Integrating Clinical Imaging with Nursing Practices for Enhanced Outcomes
Wound healing (WH) is an extraordinary biological process that encompasses the management of injuries, tissue repair, and the restoration of the integrity of the skin and surrounding tissues. This process plays a crucial role as a defensive barrier, preventing infections and injuries and maintaining homeostasis. A normal wound progresses through a series of stages, including hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling, within a specific timeframe. This type of wound is known as an acute wound. However, when the healing process is delayed or interrupted at any stage, the wound becomes chronic. Several factors can influence WH, such as physiological factors like age, gender, and oxygen levels; pathological conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and obesity; and lifestyle factors including poor hygiene, smoking, and alcohol consumption. If a chronic wound is not properly managed, it can lead to further complications, such as an increased risk of infection, higher morbidity, and even mortality. The role of healthcare, particularly the nurse, in wound care is to monitor the case, handle it, and reduce complications. Therefore, it is essential to optimize nursing practices and ensure adherence to guidelines, keeping up with their continuous updates. Visualizing WH is a crucial aspect of wound care, enabling effective monitoring and evaluation of the healing process. This review explores the theoretical perspectives and practical applications of clinical imaging in wound assessment. Techniques such as 3D scanning, ultrasound imaging, and visual documentation are highlighted for their role in tracking wound characteristics, diagnosing complications, and guiding treatment plans. Emphasis is placed on integrating advanced technologies with nursing practices to enhance patient outcomes. By combining theoretical frameworks with innovative imaging methods, this study underscores the importance of visual tools in improving the understanding and management of WH
A Pragmatic Analysis Of Accommodation In Selected Political Discourses In Nigeria
This paper examines accommodation in selected political discourses in the Nigerian political landscape. The study begins by looking at how the lack clear political ideology and/or the total disregard for it by some Nigerian politicians them to defect from one political party to another and how they employ the nuances of language to prove their allegiance to the new political parties/political associates on the one hand while on the other, using language to distance themselves from their former political parties/former political associates. The data utilized for this study was obtained from secondary sources comprising newspapers and social media handles such as twitter currently X. After the data analysis using Howard Giles’s (1973), Communication Accommodation Theory as its framework, the study established that politicians who defect from one political party to another converge their speeches to show absolute allegiance and gain acceptance in their new party while also using language , to distance themselves from their former political parties. The findings also revealed that in the face of rampant defections, defectors are sometimes pressured into going the extra mile to prove their allegiance to their new political parties or associate by demonizing their former political parties and/or associates whom they once praised to high heavens. The paper concludes by condemning the exploitation of language to surreptitiously pursue personal interests under the guise of contributing to nation building and deepening of democracy.
