A Computational Linguistic and Stylistic Exploration of Natural Language Processing in Replacing a Human\u27s Career in the Future
This paper aims to examine the integration of computational linguistics and stylistics, focusing on two primary objectives. The first objective is to determine if current technology can develop a program capable of detecting and analyzing the overall emotion in texts, potentially replacing the work of emotive stylisticians. The second objective is to assess the impact of AI on the telecommunications industry through a questionnaire survey. Two main methods were employed for data analysis. First, a software program was developed to perform sentiment analysis on selected novels. After processing each novel, the program produced a chart containing the words that have emotional value and their frequencies. Afterward, the software was coded to take the average of all the words that relate to emotions (positive, neutral, and negative) and detect the dominant sentiment among the three selected novels. The second method involved a questionnaire distributed to participants of an international telecommunications company, exploring AI\u27s influence on their daily work. The results indicate that current technology cannot fully automate the role of emotive stylisticians due to reliability issues. Additionally, the survey suggests significant upcoming changes in the telecommunications industry due to AI\u27s growing influence
Reclaiming Indigeneity: A Postcolonial Analysis of Emile Habibi’s The Pessoptimist in Translation
This study investigates the linguistic and cultural markers of indigeneity in Emile Habibi’s The Secret Life of Saeed: The Pessoptimist, a novel translated into more than 12 languages and gaining worldwide recognition. In spite of this recognition, the translation of this indigenous chef-d’oeuvre does not seem to mirror its deep-seated connection to its linguistic and cultural origin. The study, therefore, highlights a gap in the literature that Jayyusi and Le Gassick\u27s English translation of The Pessoptimist has not been verified for its preservation or dilution of the original’s essence of indigeneity. This study utilizes a qualitative textual analysis methodology premised on postcolonial translation studies to examine the novel’s linguistic and cultural indigenous markers. It then looks into the translation of those markers, only to realize that the indigenous novel has been metamorphosed into a mere narrative overshadowed by the dominant culture. This deformation has not only diluted the novel’s indigenous essence but also created gaps in understanding the work’s cultural specificity and identity. By highlighting specific instances of such distortions, the study emphasizes the amount of loss incurred in such conventional translation practices. By presenting critical insights into the challenges facing the translation of indigenous literature, this study not only contributes to the broader field of translation studies but also calls for a retranslation of The Pessoptimist, one that aligns with its true indigenous origin
The Effect of Academic Level on the Use of Deictic Expressions in ESL Learners\u27 Writing: A Corpus Driven Investigation
Deictic expressions are essential linguistic elements that facilitate communication by anchoring utterances to specific temporal, spatial, and personal contexts. However, mastering deixis presents challenges for ESL learners due to its reliance on pragmatic competence. This study examines how academic level influences the use of deictic expressions among first-year and fourth-year ESL students through a corpus-driven analysis. The findings indicate that first-year students rely heavily on explicit deictic markers, particularly personal and temporal deixis, while fourth-year students demonstrate a shift toward more grammaticalized and indirect reference strategies. The results suggest that advanced learners develop alternative means of maintaining discourse coherence, reducing their dependence on overt deixis. These insights highlight the importance of tailored pedagogical interventions that address both explicit and implicit deixis usage. The study provides valuable implications for ESL instruction, emphasizing the need for corpus-based approaches to enhance learners’ pragmatic competence in referential cohesion and discourse structure
Female Influencers’ Self-presentation and Digital Leadership in Morocco: A Multimodal Discourse Analysis Approach to their Posted Content on Instagram
In recent years, social media have presented a significant virtual space for women to exercise their feminine subjectivity and realize the values of self-enhancement, ambition and leadership by managing the perceptions of others and projecting a desired social image. Many of the digital platforms host a plethora of social relations across various cultural, racial and gendered variables. With the ascent of social influencers on Facebook, tik-toc and Instagram, new modes of gender representations and leadership dynamics have come to the surface. Thus, female influencers on social media have managed to garner a larger pool of followers through impression management and positive self-presentation. This paper tries to investigate the textual and visual narratives of four Moroccan female influencers and analyze the content of their posts to unfold the strategies of impression management and self-presentation that control the way followers perceive them. The analysis of their content shows that these influencers use different modes (reels, multimodal texts, selfies…) and genres (micronarratives about everyday routines, didactic parables, quotes, poem recitations, endorsed advertisements), and interact with the media affordances at play on Instagram (like reduced anonymity, persistence and visibility), being heedful of the other generated content (likes, shares, comments) and context collapse (networked public). The analysis indicates the consistent use of strategies of impression management in five related factors, namely, self-concept, desired identity, role constraints, target value, and current or potential social image. The study aims to unfold the strategies used by these micro-influencers to project a desired social image and explain how these influencers manage the way they want their audience to perceive them (as leaders) and follow them
Epistemic Structures and Public Discourse: Tracing Religious Reasoning in Arab Public Spheres
The paper presents a case study exploring how the everyday deliberation of public matters in the Arab world is epistemically traceable. Since processes of socio-political communication are deeply rooted in wider epistemological structures, and because social actors operating in the public sphere are socially informed, it is imperative to understand the underlying epistemic structures that determine everyday communicative practices. The paper seeks to identify the role played by religious discourse/reason in Arab public spheres. It begins by introducing the theoretical approach that informs the discursive analysis, Critical Discourse Studies (CDS). It then summarises the concept of the public sphere and its historical evolution in the Arab world. Following this, it identifies three epistemic stances that dominate Arab public spheres: (1) the traditionalist stance, (2) the revisionist stance, and (3) the stance of the epistemological break. The paper concludes with a case study that illustrates each of these epistemic structures and locates their epistemological stances by schematising their arguments on a prominent problematic issue in modern Arab thought: equal shares of inheritance for men and women. The data for analysis was derived from discussion and debate on this topic in the wake of the late Tunisian president\u27s proposal
Verb-Stranding VP Ellipsis in Najdi Arabic
The main goal of this paper is to establish that Najdi Arabic (NA, henceforth) has the property of verb-stranding VP ellipsis. This claim is cross linguistically contingent on V-to-T movement. Four diagnostics of verb-stranding VP ellipsis have also been examined in NA: licensing of inflectional head, islands insensitivity, sloppy identity interpretation, and antecedent-contained deletion. Together, the outcome supports our claim that NA has verb-stranding VP ellipsis. The paper proposes an account of this construction and provides various arguments against the null object hypothesis
Innovation in the Application of the Orff Music Concept in the Mass Music Entertainment Experience Model
This paper explores the application of the Orff music concept in mass music entertainment. Orff music is an artistic form that is holistic, natural and closely connected to life. Its elemental nature encompasses multiple elements, breaking the excessive emphasis on traditional musical elements and returning to natural expression and perception. When applied to the mass entertainment music experience, it has the advantages of being simple to operate and highly improvisational, enabling people of different age groups to participate easily and enhancing interactive cooperation. Currently, the mass music entertainment experience model has limitations such as focusing mainly on listening, having a high participation threshold, and being monotonous in experience forms. The Orff music concept provides ideas for its innovation. For example, in the innovation of the experience integrating music and body rhythm, by setting up rhythm areas in large-scale activities, participants can improvise movements and feel the resonance of rhythm. In terms of instrument simplification, Orff\u27s treatment of instruments lowers the threshold for creation and performance. It can also combine elements of Chinese traditional and ethnic minority music as well as modern technologies, such as virtual instruments and multimedia technologies, further expanding the boundaries of mass music entertainment and enriching the connotations of music experience and cultural inheritance
Elderly Care in HangzhouAdvantage. Catch-up Pattern Explanation
By the end of 2018, the elderly population aged 60 years and above in Hangzhou was 1,744,400, accounting for 22.53% of the total population. The superposition trend of population aging, aging, inability and empty nesting is obvious. To address this problem, the Hangzhou Municipal Government has used its own advantages to rationally plan, innovate and develop in recent years to contribute to the cause of elderly care and promote social civilization. Hangzhou has taken a number of measures in the field of elderly care, aiming to build a comprehensive and sustainable basic elderly care service system and improve the quality of life of elderly individuals. Hangzhou encourages social forces to participate in old-age care, forming a diversified governance model led by the government, with social participation and market operation. This model not only improves the efficiency and quality of elderly care services but also provides useful experience for social governance innovation.• Intelligent elderly care exploration: Hangzhou actively explores the intelligent elderly care model, uses scientific and technological means to improve the level of elderly care services, and provides a demonstration of the digital transformation of the national elderly care industry. Practice of the Healthy China Strategy • Healthy Retirement: Hangzhou promotes the healthy retirement of the elderly and prolongs healthy life expectancy through the combination of medical care, health management and other measures, which is highly consistent with the "Healthy China" strategy
Bladder Cancer Detection and Diagnosis in Babil Governorate by Age Group
As the sixth most common cancer in women and the fourth most common cancer in males, bladder cancer is a serious issue worldwide. Male preponderance correlates with an increase in age-dependent incidence. Cigarette smoking, chemical exposure at work, and chronic bladder inflammation are all risk factors. The identification and diagnosis of bladder cancer were studied across age groups in a cross-sectional study conducted in the Governorate of Babil, Iraq. The study\u27s 90 participants included 75 men and 75 women with a mean age of 62.3 years. Smoking (44.4%) was the most common cause of bladder cancer, followed by occupational chemical exposure (22.2%) and chronic inflammation of the bladder (5%). (11.1 percent ). Hematuria (88.1%), dysuria (66.7%), and frequency (88.9%) were the most common signs of bladder cancer (55.6 percent ). Cystoscopy and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of bladder cancer in every patient. Smoking, chemical exposure at work, and chronic bladder inflammation have all been identified as significant risk factors in previous research. All participants were diagnosed after displaying symptoms, illustrating the importance of early detection and diagnosis. The study also emphasizes the importance of cystoscopy and biopsy for a final diagnosis. Although bladder cancer is hazardous, it is usually curable if caught and treated early. Bladder cancer is more common in males than in women, and smoking and exposure to certain chemicals are major risk factors
The Connective Tissue Diseases Overlap Syndromes: 5-Year Single-Center Experience at Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca
Overlap syndromes (OS) correspond to clinical entities characterized by the coexistence, in the same individual, of diagnostic criteria for at least two connective tissue diseases (CTDs). These manifestations can occur simultaneously or sequentially during the course of the disease. This was a retrospective descriptive observational study covering a period of five years, from January 2020 to December 2024. The research used existing medical data from the records of 15 patients treated for CTDs-OSs at the internal medicine department of Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca. Out of 1921 patients, 15 presented OSs (0.8%), with female predominance. The median age at diagnosis was 42 years, and the clinical symptomatology was dominated by Raynaud\u27s phenomenon, polyarthritis, myositis, and skin eruptions. A complex combination of 40 CTDs was observed, including two cases of rhupus and three of sclerolupus. The prognosis was generally good after treatment. OS are complex entities requiring a multidisciplinary diagnostic approach integrating immunological markers and paraclinical complements to adapt therapeutic strategies
