The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health: 1989-95 cohort ('New Young') Survey 4 data, 2016
No full textThis study is the fourth survey of the 1989-95 cohort. In 2012 and 2013, 17,069 18-23 year old women were enrolled in this "New Young" cohort. Women were mainly recruited using the internet and social media platforms. Consistent with the other cohorts, women were required to have a Medicare card. Women completed the online survey and provided consent to linkage of survey data with administrative databases such as Medicare. Since a different method of recruiting was used, it was not possible to calculate response rates for Survey 1. In Survey 2, the response rate as percent of eligible respondents was 69.5%, in Survey 3 54.9%, and in Survey 4 56.9% with 9,007 women still part of the longitudinal study

No full textThe aim of the project was to explore television news coverage of Australian election campaigns and measured the amount of television coverage of politican parties, leaders and election issues. National bulletins were collected and local news in Brisbane and Perth during the 2001 federal election campaign. This study was also conducted in 1998. This study measures coverage of 12 election issues as defined in the Australian Election Study (ADA No. 1001) as were 12 other issues. This file refers to the Channel 9 National Late News coverage at 7pm. Variables include time in seconds given to political parties and political leaders. Also measured was time given to election issues including: education, environment, health, industrial relations and taxation

Data collected included smoking habits, presence of cough, previous blood transfusions, problems with chest pains and presence of diabetes. Measurements of height, weight, blood pressure, FEV1 and vital capacity were also taken. The respondent was asked details of use of over-the-counter and prescribed drugs currently being consumed. Background variables included age, sex and marital status

No full textThe 2007 election campaign TV news coverage files extend previous sets of TV news coverage data gathered by David Denemark (1998) and by David Denemark, Clive Bean ((Queensland Univ of Technology) and Ian Ward (Univ of Queensland), 2001). The aim of the project was to explore television news coverage of Australian election campaigns and measured the amount of television coverage of political parties, leaders and election issues. National bulletins were collected and local news in Brisbane and Perth during the 2007 federal election campaign. This study was also conducted in 1998 and 2001. This study measures coverage of 12 election issues and 10 other issues as defined in the Australian Election Study, 2007 (ADA No. 1120). This file refers to the Channel 2 Perth News coverage at 7 pm. Variables include time in seconds given to political parties and political leaders. Also measured was time given to election issues including: education, environment, health, industrial relations and taxation. Prominence of the news bulletin in the news (x10 for lead story; 9 for second story in the bulletin; 8 for third story…1 for 10th or lower story) was used to generate "weighted seconds.
