Bridging the Gap Between Learning and Fun: Is there a relationship between video game use and self-regulated learning
Self-regulated learning (SRL) is when students proactively optimize their learning. Ingrained within this process is metacognition, the knowledge, control, and regulation of cognition. High levels of metacognition helps students select studing strategies, monitor study progress, and adjust study strategy to maximize learning. Video games may have an influence on SRL. Past research on video games have found varying effects. While some studies found improvements in problem solving and task perseverance, others found correlations with aggressive behaviours and addictive behaviours. It is possible that there is too much variation within video games, even of the same genre, to characterize video games. To contribute to the literature surrounding video game effects and to explore possible categorizations with video games, two studies were done. The first study explored the possibility of characterizing video game genres into complexity and sociability. The second study explored the relationship between video game use and SRL. To understand video game use and SRL, the study will examine the relationship among video game use, socialization in video games, cognitive and metacognitive studying strategies, and academic performance. The results from study 1 will aid the interpretation of study 2 to possibly explain study 2 results from complexity and sociability

You Look Good in Green Prosocial Campaign
This paper explains how persuasion methods outlined by Perloff (2017) and Caildini (2009) can be used to create materials for a prosocial cause, such as a recycling program. More specifically it explains how two posters were strategically made to follow the key components of the Elaboration Likelihood Model in addition to several other strategies. These strategies included guilt, cognitive dissonance, attitude functions, and the appeal of consistency. The phrasing and imagery on the posters were all utilized because the methods that inspired them have been proven to be more persuasive than other types of communication where they are neglected (Perloff 2017). It was the aim of these posters to help increase the general publics’ participation in H+M’s textile recycling program, and to reduce the overall amount of clothing waste in the lower mainland

Authentic Leadership Theory: Exemplifying Self-Awareness, Character and Transparency in Nursing Leadership
According to Sagnak and Kuruoz (2017) authenticity is established when one maintains their intrinsic values and beliefs in all aspects of their life, therefore their values, beliefs, attitudes and self-identity shapes their actions.Authentic leadership encompasses four areas. These include, self-awareness which is understanding one’s strengths, limitations, and values and how they affect others (Azanza, Moriano, & Molero, 2013). Balanced processing, which encourages analyzing all relevant information from differing views before making a decision (Azanza et. al., 2013). Relational transparency which is openly sharing the authentic self by sharing knowledge, displaying openness with true thoughts, feelings, and trust (Sagnak & Kuruoz, 2017). Finally, internalized moral perspective, which is self-regulation by guiding actions with moral standards and values (Sagnak & Kuruoz, 2017) (Azanza et. al., 2013). Studies have shown that authentic leadership is positively associated with increased employee job performance, increased job satisfaction, and improved work engagement through honest and transparent relationships with employees (Azanza et. al., 2013). Authentic leaders display fairness, justice, empathy, respect, trustworthiness, reliability, and believability (Waite, McKinney, Smith-Glasgow, & Meloy, 2014). For this paper I will research into the background and history of authentic leadership theory, provide an in depth analysis and explanation of the concepts of authentic leadership, and finally include an application regarding relevance to nursing leadership and personal practice
