    Get PDF
Bus transportation serves as one of the primary modes of transport facilitating mobility in Bandung. However, there are still operational system challenges. This study aims to identify the types, routes, and several issues faced by public buses in Bandung. Data were collected through a literature review. The findings reveal various types of buses operating in Bandung, including DAMRI, Trans Metro Bandung (TMB), Trans Metro Pasundan (TMP), and Bus Rapid Transit Aman Sehat (BURATAS), each with distinct characteristics and routes. Several issues identified in this study include the limited availability of bus fleets and suboptimal departure time management. The novelty of this research lies in proposing a technology-based management system and the integration of mobile applications for users. By implementing these solutions, it is expected that the public bus transportation system in Bandung will become more reliable, efficient, and sustainable, encouraging the public to shift from private vehicles to public transportation

Decolonizing “Muslim Questions” in Europe: Integration and Entanglements of Colonial Epistemologies

    Get PDF
Europe’s so-called “Muslim question” is less an inevitable cultural clash than the prolonged imprint of colonial hierarchies, secular assimilation, and racialized security politics. This dynamic has roots in post–World War II labor migrations. These movements, far from simple economic exchanges, transplanted colonial hierarchies into Europe’s social fabric. From the Rushdie Affair to the post-9/11 security turn, public debates, and state policies, however, have repeatedly reframe Muslim presence as a challenge to national cohesion and public order. Addressing this requires a decolonial rethinking of integration, one that dismantles colonial epistemologies and recognizes Muslims as co-authors of Europe’s plural identity. Edward Said’s critique of orientalism, analysis of secular power introduced by Talal Asad, vision of counter-hegemonic Islamism proposed by Salman Sayyid, and Dipesh Chakrabarty’s call to “provincialize” Europe together reveal how colonial logics continue to shape Muslim integration. Foregrounding Muslim agency through Ramadan’s reformist “European Islam” and Fanon’s radical pedagogy, and guided by the insurgent energies of decolonial praxis, this study calls for a decisive rupture from assimilationist orthodoxies toward cultural equity and ethical pluralism. It thus advances a future that will help to weave a participatory polis that transcends postcolonial melancholia and affirms diversity as a civic strength

Analisis Faktor-Faktor Kriminogenik Kasus Filisida di Indonesia dalam Perspektif Strain Theory

    Get PDF
The phenomenon of filicide, the act of killing one’s biological, step, or adopted child, has exhibited an alarming trend in Indonesia over the past six years. This study aims to analyze the criminogenic factors underlying filicide cases in Indonesia through the lens of Robert K. Merton’s Strain Theory. Employing a qualitative method, this research utilizes literature review and content analysis of 33 filicide cases reported by national online media from 2019 to 2025, supported by secondary data from official institutions. The findings indicate that filicide is triggered by various forms of strain stemming from economic hardship, mental disorders, dysfunctional family structures, oppressive cultural norms, and the failure to fulfill the socially constructed ideal parental role. In many cases, perpetrators experienced social isolation and emotional breakdowns due to the cumulative effects of structural and psychological stress. This study concludes that filicide represents a complex form of deviance not merely a consequence of individual psychopathology, but rather a manifestation of systemic social tensions. The study suggests that effective policy interventions should adopt a comprehensive preventive approach, including parenting education, community-based mental health services, and structural reinforcement of family resilience

Slum Politics in Jakarta: Comparison of Slum Areas in Karet Tengsin and Guji Baru based on Urban Social Movement Theory

    Get PDF
The city is a complex reality that reflects the struggle for political, economic, and cultural spaces and resources amidst limitations and contingencies in achieving justice for all city residents. The concepts of the Right to the City and Urban Social Movements, as explored in urban political literature, serve as an exploratory framework for this qualitative-descriptive research. They help to understand the struggles for the right to the city through urban social movements in Karet Tengsin and Kampung Guji Baru, Jakarta. This study employs both primary and secondary data collection methods. Primary data were gathered through interviews with three key informants: two activists from Tim 9 in Karet Tengsin and one activist from Serikat Perjuangan Rakyat Indonesia (SPRI) in Kampung Guji Baru. These interviews were further supported by direct observation conducted over approximately one month in both areas. Secondary data, including literature from books, scientific journals, and media reports, complement the analysis and provide insights into the empirical realities of urban social movements by slum residents in Jakarta. The findings demonstrate distinct differences in the models, types, and demands of struggles for the right to the city as exhibited by Tim 9 in Karet Tengsin and SPRI in Kampung Guji Baru. Moreover, the empirical evidence descriptively concludes that the Jakarta government has yet to fully realize the right to the city, particularly in providing access to adequate housing and sustainable livelihoods (collective consumption)

The Aceh Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK Aceh) is a regional government agency responsible for implementing the Aceh provincial government's policies in the fields of environmental management and forestry. The authority for the rehabilitation of both production forests and protected forests, along with other related functions, has been delegated to the provincial government as the governing body for environmental and forestry affairs in the region. The main issue examined in this study is the suboptimal efforts in forest and land protection, rehabilitation, and environmental damage control. This study aims to explore and analyze the role of DLHK Aceh in forest and land rehabilitation in Aceh Besar Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, documentation, and observations. The findings indicate that DLHK Aceh has implemented forest and land rehabilitation efforts, community empowerment programs, and extension activities. These efforts include tree planting in sub-watershed areas and outside forest zones through community-based seedling programs involving forest farmer groups. Additionally, guidance and training have been provided to communities living near forests, including awareness campaigns, patrols, and extension activities. Furthermore, forest rangers and contracted forest security personnel have been deployed down to the Forest Management Plan (RPH) level

Mengeksplorasi Regulasi Industri Seksual di Indonesia: Pemidanaan Pembeli Jasa Pekerja Seks Komersial

    Get PDF
The sex industry in Indonesia is a phenomenon that has existed since the colonial era and has continued to develop both openly and covertly. The absence of explicit legal regulations on prostitution in Indonesia, combined with advancements in digital technology, has created new challenges in enforcing consistent regulations and has led to increased sexual exploitation, particularly of children. This study aims to explore the ambiguous regulations surrounding the commercial sex industry, focusing on voluntary sex work and sexual exploitation within the context of Indonesian law. This study employs a normative juridical research method, analyzing existing legal norms, including the Indonesian Penal Code, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, and regional regulations governing prostitution. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s criminal policy targeting buyers of sexual services has not been entirely effective in reducing demand, as clients tend to shift to more discreet digital platforms. While this policy was expected to disrupt the industry, it has instead fostered the emergence of a black market that is more difficult to monitor, thereby increasing the risks of exploitation. Therefore, a more comprehensive policy approach is needed—one that not only focuses on criminalization but also ensures the protection of sex workers’ rights

Bandung and Suwon were designated as sister cities on August 25, 1997. They were chosen as sister cities because they share several similarities, including their status as centers of education and innovation, their development as smart cities, their rich cultural values, and their deep historical backgrounds. Both cities are also strategically located. Urban development in Bandung and Suwon focuses on efforts to create cities that are comfortable to live in by ensuring safety and convenience for their residents. This study aims to analyze and compare the legal protection provided to pedestrians in the cities of Bandung and Suwon. Pedestrians are among the most vulnerable road users, often exposed to accidents and violations of their rights to public space. In Bandung, there is currently no regional regulation that specifically governs legal protection for pedestrians. In contrast, the Suwon city government has implemented a range of progressive policies, including pedestrian priority zones and national laws that safeguard pedestrian rights. The research employs a normative juridical method with a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach. The findings reveal that Suwon demonstrates a significantly higher level of effectiveness in implementing pedestrian protection regulations compared to Bandung. Legal certainty in Suwon is supported by clear, written, and consistently enforced regulations, whereas Bandung continues to face challenges related to the clarity and consistency of legal enforcement in practice. This study recommends that Bandung adopt Suwon’s best practices to strengthen legal protection for pedestrians

The digital ecosystem is currently evolving rapidly, impacting various fields, including professions. Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren or Ponpes) as religious educational institutions face challenges in keeping up with the times, particularly in enhancing digital literacy competencies and leveraging them for career development in the virtual world. One potential profession is that of a Virtual Assistant (VA), which, in the context of Sharia economic law, falls under the concept of ijarah ‘alal ‘amal (contract of services). Ponpes al-Sa’adah in Bandung Regency envisions developing the potential of its graduates and the entire academic community through the utilization of digital literacy. Based on this premise, a Student Creativity Program (PKM) is necessary and aims to: (1) analyze the potential for developing digital literacy and life skills among the younger generation at Ponpes al-Sa’adah; (2) examine community engagement strategies to enhance digital literacy and mastery of life skills through the application of the ijarah ‘alal ‘amal concept in the VA profession within Ponpes al-Sa’adah; (3) analyze the implications of this program on improving digital literacy and life skills for the younger generation. This study employs the "ACTORS" theory by Steve MacCulay and Sarah Cook, using the ABCD method. The conclusions of this PKM are: (1) ponpes al-Sa’adah has significant potential to foster work ethics, digital literacy, and life skills through the application of the ijarah concept in Virtual Assistant roles; (2) community engagement strategies involve training on the ijarah concept, an understanding of Virtual Assistants, and the necessary skills to become a VA; (3) participants can understand and effectively practice VA skills while comprehending the application of the ijarah bil ‘amal concept in the VA profession

Contribution of Forest Farmer Groups in Land Management through the Agroforestry System

    Get PDF
This study analyzes the contribution of Forest Farmer Groups (KTH) in land management through agroforestry systems in two schemes, namely Social Forestry and Non-Social Forestry. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through field observations, in-depth door-to-door interviews, and documentation of 29 members of the Ajisaka KTH, 67 members of the Tanjungjaya KTH, and 25 members of the Bunter KTH. The results of the study show that agroforestry has become an alternative livelihood strategy through crop diversification, such as corn, cassava, bananas, ginger, turmeric, and coffee, which are planted among teak trees managed by Perhutani and PTPN. In the Ajisaka KTH, which operates under the Social Forestry scheme, legal access and institutional recognition strengthen collective awareness, community solidarity, and provide additional income, although agriculture is still considered a side business. Meanwhile, KTH Tanjungjaya and Bunter, which lack strong legal standing, are more vulnerable but demonstrate adaptive strategies through profit-sharing systems, wage systems, and additional ventures such as balsa seedling production and honeybee farming. Both schemes demonstrate that agroforestry not only increases household income but also strengthens food security, social empowerment, and ecological sustainability. Thus, agroforestry is not merely an agricultural technique but a socio-economic tool capable of balancing livelihood needs and environmental conservation
