What does intelligence mean? Artificial Intelligence in the light of Ancient Philosophy
No full textOur analysis seeks to offer a perspective on what lies at the center of so-called artificial intelligence: the notion of intelligence itself. We seek to address this topic from an angle where philology and philosophy converge, examining the classical meaning of the word “intelligence” through the works of Plato, Aristotle, and Plotinus. This approach allows us to reflect on the meaning of “intelligence” within a significant part of our philosophical tradition. It focuses on the aspects that are inseparable from this concept and its semantic field. Following this examination, we can clarify in what sense artificial intelligence is “intelligence”, or whether this nomenclature functions instead as a metaphor reflecting the historical, sociological, and cultural interellations at work at a given moment.Nuestro análisis busca aportar una perspectiva que permita clarificar aquello que está en el centro de la llamada inteligencia artificial: la noción de inteligencia. Buscamos tratar el tema desde un ángulo en el que convergen filología y filosofía: la indagación en el significado clásico de la noción de “inteligencia”, de la mano de Platón, Aristóteles y Plotino. Ello nos permitirá reflexionar sobre lo que significa “inteligencia” para gran parte de nuestra tradición filosófica. Se trata de atender a los aspectos que son indisociables de este concepto y su campo semántico. Tras este ejercicio podremos clarificar en qué sentido es “inteligencia” la inteligencia artificial o si esta nomenclatura funciona, más bien, como una metáfora que refleja los entramados históricos, sociológicos y culturales que están operando en un momento dado

No full textReligion plays a fundamental role for human beings, there is no human society that lacks something that social scientists would call religion. This plays an important role in the lives of many people in issues such as the existence of the soul or its destiny. For its part, Catholic tradition considers that one of the destinations of the soul is Purgatory and indicates that it is possible to pray for the souls found here so that they can reach Heaven. In this article, the feasibility of saving all souls from Purgatory has been calculated, through mathematical reasoning and considering aspects of the human condition.La religión desempeña un papel fundamental para el ser humano, no existiendo ninguna sociedad humana que carezca de algo a lo que los científicos sociales denominarían religión. Esta juega un papel importante en la vida de muchas personas en cuestiones como la existencia del alma o su destino. Por su parte, la tradición católica, considera que uno de los destinos del alma es el Purgatorio e indica que es posible rezar por las almas que aquí se encuentran para que puedan llegar al Cielo. En el presente artículo se ha calculado la viabilidad de salvar a todas las almas del Purgatorio, mediante razonamientos matemáticos y considerando aspectos propios de la condición humana

The will to prosper of the individual is what makes the whole of society prosper, through voluntary social coordination between individuals. In this paper we focus on the cognitive traits that give rise to human action. In particular, we postulate the importance that religiosity, human values and a positive position towards the free market can have as antecedents of entrepreneurial intention.El germen del desarrollo económico es la acción humana, que cristaliza en la función empresarial. La voluntad de prosperar del individuo es la que hace que el conjunto de la sociedad prospere, por medio de la coordinación social voluntaria entre individuos. En este trabajo nos centramos en los rasgos cognitivos que dan lugar a la acción humana. No full text During the last decades, some historians have drawn the attention to the capitalist characteristics of the economy in New Spain during the 18th century; this would compel us to re-examine many classic assumptions about the emergence of capitalism. In this paper, we will summarize the history of the economy of New Spain, focusing on the role of the economic elites in the Spanish North America and el Bajío, as well as their connection to Catholicism. Broadly speaking, we will present a counter argument to the traditional weberian thesis through the example of the society and the elites of New Spain.En las últimas décadas, algunos historiadores han llamado la atención sobre el carácter capitalista de la economía de Nueva España durante el siglo XVIII; este hecho obligaría a reexaminar muchas de las asunciones clásicas acerca del surgimiento del capitalismo. En este trabajo, resumiremos la historia de la economía novohispana centrándonos en el papel de élites económicas en la Norteamérica española y en el Bajío, así como en su relación con el catolicismo. No full textIn this article, we advocate for a mathematics approach in Early Childhood Education that respects the students\u27 development and addresses mathematical work with rigor and depth. In this approach, learners are not merely users of mathematics but authentic builders of mathematical knowledge, who must: identify patterns; model reality mathematically; solve problems; be organized and systematic in the problem-solving process; communicate their arguments precisely using various systems of representation, including the rigorous use of language; and compare them with those of their peers. It is this mathematics that contributes to the holistic development of the students.En este artículo abogamos por una matemática en Educación Infantil que respete el desarrollo del alumnado y aborde el trabajo matemático con rigurosidad y profundidad. En este enfoque, los y las aprendices no son meros usuarios de la matemática, sino auténticos constructores de conocimiento matemático que deben: identificar patrones; modelizar matemáticamente la realidad; resolver problemas; ser organizados y sistemáticos en el proceso de resolución; comunicar de manera precisa los propios argumentos con distintos sistemas de representación, incluyendo el uso riguroso del lenguaje; y contrastarlos con los de sus iguales. Es esta matemática la que contribuye al desarrollo integral del alumnado
The early childhood curriculum: exploring its use in pre-service teacher education for teaching mathematics
No full textSe realiza una primera exploración sobre el uso del currículo de educación infantil en torno a la enseñanza de las matemáticas. Para ello, se ha administrado el Cuestionario sobre la Enseñanza de las Matemáticas en el Currículo de Educación Infantil a 155 futuras docentes de esta etapa. Los principales resultados muestran: 1) a nivel general, prefieren una organización por áreas; consultan sobre todo competencias, saberes básicos y criterios de evaluación del segundo ciclo (3-6 años) y el acceso no es claro ni transparente; 2) respecto a la enseñanza de las matemáticas, consultan prioritariamente la resolución de problemas junto con la numeración, y progresivamente realizan una lectura más crítica y exigente. Se concluye que, en la formación inicial docente, es necesario promover un conocimiento profesional crítico acerca del currículo.An exploratory study was conducted on the use of the early childhood education curriculum in relation to mathematics teaching. To this end, the Questionnaire on Mathematics Teaching in the Early Childhood Curriculum was administered to 155 pre-service teachers at this level. The main findings show that: a) in general, they prefer an organization by area; they mainly consult on competences, basic knowledge and assessment criteria for the second cycle (3-6 years) and access is neither clear nor transparent; b) regarding mathematics teaching, they primarily consult problem solving together with number and progressively engage in more critical and demanding interpretation. It is concluded that, in pre-service teacher education, it is necessary to promote critical professional knowledge about the curriculum
