No full textTeaching practice involves continuous exposure to stress situations. Given the scarcity of studies that identify coping patterns from a person-centered approach we intended to: 1) identify coping profiles in teachers; 2) analyze whether perceived emotional intelligence determines the probability of belonging to the identified profiles; and 3) test whether membership in a particular profile is related to a health outcome such as burnout. Two hundred and fifty teachers (161 women) participated in the study by responding to the Trait Meta-Mood Scale for the evaluation of perceived emotional intelligence, the COPE questionnaire for the evaluation of coping strategies and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey for the evaluation of burnout. A latent profile analysis yielded three profiles: 1) “adaptive copers”; 2) “behavioural evaders with broad strategies”; and 3) “cognitive evaders with consumption-based strategies”. Results show that the emotional intelligence dimensions contribute to explaining membership in related profiles with better health outcomes. In terms of profile-related outcomes, the profile of “cognitive evaders with consumption-based strategies” shows the highest levels of burnout.This research was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation MCIN/AEI/10.13039/ 501100011033 project number PID2020-116521RB-I00 and by a predoctoral fellowship (FPU18/00302)

El Informe Semanal de Emprendimiento Societario Mercantil en Andalucía presenta de forma gráfica y sencilla los datos semanales y acumulados de creación de sociedades mercantiles publicados en el BORME hasta la fecha, desagregados a nivel provincial. El Informe Semanal de Emprendimiento Societario Mercantil en Andalucía pretende ser una herramienta útil para la difusión de la actividad emprendedora societaria en Andalucía y en cada provincia. La publicación semanal en un formato fácil de interpretar de la creación de sociedades mercantiles desarrollada en Andalucía y desagregada a nivel provincial, ofrece a los medios de comunicación y a los responsables de las actividades de promoción del emprendimiento una oportunidad de conocer en tiempo real la actividad emprendedora societaria en su provincia y comunidad, y su evolución, comparada también con el resto de territorios. Los datos aquí ofrecidos no tienen carácter oficial, aunque proceden de una fuente oficial, el Boletín Oficial del Registro Mercantil (https://www.boe.es/diario_borme/). El Registro Mercantil publica datos mensuales de acuerdo a la fecha de inscripción de las empresas. La fecha de publicación en el BORME es siempre posterior, por lo que pueden existir discrepancias dado que en este trabajo se analiza la información publicada diariamente, agregada de forma semanal. Integrating organic Rankine cycles for waste heat recovery from onboard diesel generators in the maritime sector: Simulation and techno-economic assessment
No full textThe maritime sector's dependence on fossil fuels, coupled with the rising crude oil prices, underscores the urgent need to enhance ship efficiency and advance the decarbonization of the marine sector. This paper evaluates the technical and economic feasibility of integrating organic Rankine cycle (ORC) systems in diesel-electric propulsion marine distribution vessels. A comprehensive simulation and optimization of a 1.6 MW ORC unit, using acetone as the working fluid, has been conducted. The system is designed to recover waste heat from the exhaust gases of diesel generators aboard a vessel. Under an 85% load of the diesel generators, the ORC bottoming unit demonstrates a net electrical efficiency of 8.45% with a thermodynamic cycle efficiency of 18.73%. It is estimated that this system could reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions and diesel fuel consumption by 18.5% compared to conventional systems. From a financial perspective, assuming a conservative discount rate of 8%, the ORC system demonstrates long-term viability with a cumulative profit of 44% on the initial investment, a payback period of 11.7 years, and an internal rate of return of 12.8%. A Digital Scholarly Edition of Utopia de Thomas Moro (1637) with Accompanying Texts
No full textEsta tesis doctoral presenta una edición crítica digital de la traducción al castellano de Utopia (1516) por Gerónimo de Medinilla, titulada Utopia de Thomas Moro y publicada en 1637. Esta edición está compuesta por el texto en castellano, una propuesta de modernización del mismo, el texto original latino de la edición de marzo de 1518 y la traducción al inglés de Ralph Robinson, publicada en 1551. La particularidad de este proyecto digital es que las frases de los textos han sido alineadas para permitir una
lectura en paralelo de las obras. Junto a los textos, se acompaña un aparato crítico donde se describe la traducción de Medinilla en comparación con los textos en latín y en inglés, además de las dos reediciones de 1790 y 1805. Para ello, se ha utilizado el lenguaje de marcado TEI y la plataforma de visualización TEIPublisher.
This doctoral thesis presents a digital scholarly edition of the Spanish translation of Utopia (1516) by Gerónimo de Medinilla, titled Utopia de Thomas Moro and published in 1637. This edition contains the Spanish text, a proposal for its modernization, the original Latin text of the March 1518 edition and the English translation by Ralph Robinson, published in 1551. The particularity of this digital project is that the sentences of the texts have been aligned to allow a parallel reading of the works. The texts are
accompanied by a critical apparatus describing Medinilla’s translation in comparison with the Latin and English texts, along with the two reeditions of 1790 and 1805. The edition is created with the TEI markup language and the TEIPublisher visualization platform
Removal of Zn(II) and Ag(I) by Staphylococcus epidermidis CECT 4183 and Biosynthesis of ZnO and Ag/AgCl Nanoparticles for Biocidal Applications
No full textThe contamination of natural waters with heavy metals is a global problem. Biosorption is an environmentally friendly and effective technology that offers advantages when metals are present in low concentrations. It also facilitates the recovery and conversion of metals, which are valuable resources. The removal capacity of Ag(I) and Zn(II) ions by Staphylococcus epidermidis CECT 4183 and the ability of its cell extract to synthesize Ag/AgCl and ZnO nanoparticles were investigated. Their biocidal capacity was evaluated. The factors involved were optimized and the mechanisms were studied. The optimal conditions for Ag(I) biosorption were pH 4.5 and a biomass dose of 0.8 g/L. For Zn(II), the biomass dose was 0.2 g/L and pH 4.2. A maximum biosorption capacity (Langmuir model) of 47.43 and 65.08 mg/g, respectively, was obtained. The cell extract promoted the synthesis of Ag/AgCl and ZnO nanoparticles with average sizes below 35 nm. The ZnO nanoparticles exhibited excellent inhibitory properties against planktonic cells of five microbial strains, with MIC values ranging from 62.5 to 250 μg/mL. Their response to biofilms remained between 70% and 100% inhibition at low concentrations (125 μg/mL). The studied bacteria show potential to remove heavy metals and promote the environmentally friendly synthesis of biocidal nanoparticles.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. High-power optical photovoltaic transmission: towards a new paradigm
No full textHigh-power optical transmission (HPOT) holds transformative potential for revolutionizing energy delivery, offering a groundbreaking leap forward in how power is supplied and accessed. By utilizing a monochromatic light source as emitter and an optical photovoltaic converter as receiver, HPOT systems enable the sustainable transfer of kilowatts of power over hundreds of kilometers, overcoming the limitations of conventional copper wiring. This technology unlocks an extensive range of applications, from underwater environments to outer space, while driving disruptive advances in strategic fields such as energy supply, defense, communications, and healthcare. This work provides a comprehensive review of HPOT systems, including both optical wireless power transmissions and power-over-fiber systems. It begins with a historical overview and a description of the key performance indicators of the technology, followed by an evaluation of suitable high-power light sources. Then, the physical phenomena affecting light propagation are examined, as well as tracking mechanisms and safety measures that must be considered. Next, the photovoltaic receiver is analyzed in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic losses, and a comprehensive compilation of state-of-the-art performance results is presented. Finally, terrestrial and space prospective applications are explored, along with a survey of HPOT demonstrations conducted to date. Through a detailed research of the advantages, challenges, and key achievements of HPOT technology, this review aims to provide valuable insights to accelerate its development and adoption, paving the way for a more connected and sustainable future.The work is part for the project PowerForEarth (PID2023-147898OB-I00) founded by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033/ and by ERDF, a way of making Europe.
