Low-cost real-time monitoring and automated control system for a bench-scale portable downdraft gasifier
No full textThis research work focuses on the development of a real-time monitoring and automated control system with remote access, as well as integrated data collection and storage, for a portable biomass gasification prototype to generate electricity from agricultural waste. The prototype consists of an air-blown downdraft fixed-bed gasifier and a producer gas conditioning unit, which operate together in a remotely controlled ensemble. The proposed system stands out for its compact size, transportability, and low-cost design, making it suitable for implementation in small agricultural facilities, especially in areas where conventional electrification is limited or non-existent. Two preliminary tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of the monitoring system. In the first test, the system achieved a target temperature of 600 °C in less than 20 minutes and maintained it within a variation range of ±25 °C. After holding this temperature for an hour, the setpoint was raised to 800 °C, with the system achieving the new target in less than 10 minutes. In the second test, a setpoint of 800 °C was reached in 16 minutes, with an additional 3 minutes required for stabilization. Both tests, lasting approximately 4 hours each, consumed a total of 13.43 kg of biomass. The results demonstrate the system's ability to reach target temperatures in less than 25 minutes while maintaining stable temperature oscillations. The system's graphical interface enables intuitive, real-time, and remote monitoring and management of temperatures in several zones along the gasifier's height. Additionally, the interface allows manual or algorithmic control of the system's actuators, with the ability to modify the control algorithms through over-the-air updates.This research work was supported by the project entitled “Renewable energies for Africa: Effective valorisation of agri-food wastes (REFFECT AFRICA)” , which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the following Grant Agreement ID number: 101036900

El Informe Semanal de Emprendimiento Societario Mercantil en España presenta de forma gráfica y sencilla los datos semanales y acumulados de creación de sociedades mercantiles publicados en el BORME hasta la fecha, desagregados a nivel autonómico y provincial. El Informe Semanal de Emprendimiento Societario Mercantil en España pretende ser una herramienta útil para la difusión de la actividad emprendedora societaria en España, en cada Comunidad Autónoma y en cada provincia. La publicación semanal en un formato fácil de interpretar de la creación de sociedades mercantiles desarrollada en España y desagregada a nivel autonómico y provincial, ofrece a los medios de comunicación y a los responsables de las actividades de promoción del emprendimiento una oportunidad de conocer en tiempo real la actividad emprendedora societaria en España, en su Comunidad Autónoma y en su provincia, y su evolución, comparada también con el resto de territorios. Los datos aquí ofrecidos no tienen carácter oficial, aunque proceden de una fuente oficial, el Boletín Oficial del Registro Mercantil (https://www.boe.es/diario_borme/). El Registro Mercantil publica datos mensuales de acuerdo a la fecha de inscripción de las empresas. Psychometric Properties of the European Evaluation of Vertigo Scale (EEV) for a Spanish-Speaking Population: A Validation Study
No full textBackground/Objectives: The objective of this study was to validate the Spanish version of the European Evaluation of Vertigo (EEV) and analyse its test-retest reliability, standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable change (MDC), concurrent validity, and discriminant validity. Methods: A cross-sectional validation study was designed. Subjects were recruited from the Otolaryngology Service of the University Hospital of Jaen. Psychometric properties of the EEV were analysed, including the concurrent validity, the SEM, and the MDC. Discriminant validity was calculated using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results: The EEV test-retest reliability was nearly perfect (Kappa index = 0.97). The SEM and the MDC were set at 0.56 and 1.10, respectively. Regarding the discriminant validity, the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.831 (95% CI; 0.743-0.899) for the BPPV prediction, the AUC = 0.731 (95% CI; 0.633-0.815) for the disability prediction from the ABC-16 score, and the AUC = 0.846 (95% CI; 0.760-0.911) for the disability prediction from the ABC-6 score. Furthermore, a cut-off point greater than 12 was a good predictor of disability and the fall risk measured with the ABC scale, whereas a value of 11 points was a good predictor for discriminating BPPV patients. Conclusions: The Spanish version of the EEV is a valid and reliable instrument for evaluating the clinical symptoms of vestibular syndrome. This instrument demonstrated a nearly perfect test-retest reliability, a low measurement error, and good accuracy in discriminating between patients with vestibular disorders and those with BPPV

No full textBackground: Several studies have suggested that leaders showing high levels of authentic leadership increase workers’ overall job satisfaction, which is composed of different aspects with some distinctions among them. Furthermore, the implication of affective and motivational variables, such as vigor and engagement at work, respectively, have not been jointly considered for analysing the differences and similarities between public and private organizations. Thus, this study aims to analyze whether vigor at work and engagement at work play a mediating role between authentic leadership and different aspects of job satisfaction, considering both public and private organizations, to propose a trans-organizational model.
Method: In this cross-sectional and cross-sectoral study, 1029 workers in private (n = 619) and public (n = 410) organizations from Spain participated completing a questionnaire.
Results: Structural equation modelling was used to perform a multigroup mediation analysis (public versus private organizations) in which the invariance between groups was previously explored. The model showed a good fit to the data in which authentic leadership affected the dimensions of job satisfaction both directly and indirectly (through vigor at work and engagement). However, authentic leadership had a greater positive effect on vigor at work for private organizations; whereas work engagement was not significantly related to the job satisfaction dimension related to legal aspects for public organizations.
Conclusion: The vigor at work and work engagement were important variables to explain the authentic leadership-job satisfaction relationship in both private and public organizations. Atisbos de derechos indígenas en la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos
No full textFor almost four decades The Inter American Court of Human Rights (IACHR Court)[i] has analyzed different cases where Indigenous rights have been on the spot. Among the cases analyzed, there are subjects such as minority, traditional lands, identity, political participation, religion. In these years, the IACHR has passed through three different periods with three different visions of these rights. This article explores five different subjects the IACHR has faced by studying their main arguments. A conclusion is presented arguing if the IACHR has become an activist court or not.Por casi cuatro décadas la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CORTE IDH) ha analizado diferentes casos en los que los derechos indígenas se encuentran en el punto central. Entre los casos analizados se encuentran tópicos como las minorias, tierras tradicionales, identidad, participación política, religión. En estos años la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos ha pasado por tres períodos diferentes con tres visiones diferentes sobre estos derechos. Este artículo explora cinco tópicos diferentes sobre los que la Corte IDH ha enfrentado mediante el estudio de sus argumentos. Al final se presenta una conclusión donde se analiza si se encuentra una Corte IDH activista o no
