“On the Right Track”: 14 Collaboration Between Teachers and Researchers for the Implementation of Cooperative 15 Learning in an Elementary Education Physical Education Course
Unmapping Trans Counter-Geographies: Trans people's experiences in outdoor and adventure activities
This thesis addresses a gap in research on trans people’s experiences in outdoor and adventure activities, challenging metronormativity in trans studies. It examines bodily, spatial, and emotional aspects through an ‘on-the-move’ methodology, combining feminist, queering, and outdoor approaches. The study is based on a multisited ethnography, with on-the-move interviews and diaries, online ethnography, and autoethnography. Findings reveal that outdoor spaces offer trans individuals a sense of freedom from gender policing, fostering a sense of transecological belonging, embodiment, empowerment, and resilience. Participants’ interactions with these spaces challenge colonial and patriarchal narratives of outdoor spaces. The research highlights the importance of representation in creating inclusive imaginaries and tackling discrimination. The study concludes that outdoor activities can positively impact trans individuals’ well-being by providing non-normative spaces for self-determination, yet emphasizes the need for dismantling cis, white, male hegemony in outdoor spaces environments to ensure inclusivity for queer and trans individuals
Multimorbidity and its associated factors among adults aged 50 and over: A crosssectional study in 17 European countries
To estimate the prevalence of multimorbidity among European community-dwelling adults,
as well as to analyse the association with gender, age, education, self-rated health, loneliness, quality of life, size of social network, Body Mass Index (BMI) and disability
Regional differences in the profile of disabled community-dwelling older adults: A European population-based cross-sectional study
The main objective of this work was to estimate the prevalence of disability in European community-dwelling older adults, as well as to investigate differences in the profile of disabled older adults between European regions (Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern). A cross-sectional study based on wave 6 (2015) of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) was conducted. Community-dwelling participants aged 65–84 were selected (n = 33,369). Disability was defined as presenting at least one functional limitation in basic activities of daily living (BADL). Sociodemographic, health services, lifestyle and health-related variables were analyzed. Statistical analysis was carried out through the Chi-square and ANOVA tests for bivariate analysis, and Poisson regression for multivariate analysis. Overall prevalence of disability was 13.8%: 9.4% in the Northern region, 13.1% in the Southern region, 13.6% in the Central region, and 16.6% in the Eastern region. Portugal, Poland, Estonia and Belgium showed the highest prevalence of BADL limitations, while Sweden, Denmark, Greece and Switzerland showed the lowest prevalence. Besides, disabled older adults from East Europe presented the most disadvantaged health profile, followed by the Southern region. On the other hand, disabled older adults living in the Northern region showed the most advantaged characteristics of most variables, except for smoking and polypharmacy

This paper presents the results of a European survey, entitled “Multicultural Early
Childhood Education”, carried out between 2017 and 2018 under the Erasmus Plus
program, in three Countries: namely, Italy, Spain, and Hungary. The goal was to
explore intercultural training needs of Early Childhood Education and Care
professionals, in order to make them able to meet the needs of Children from
Immigrant, Refugee, and Roma Families, and their families. It was a comparative
study about the cultural background of educators, through the analysis of their
competences and training needs, with respect to the issue of multiculturalism and
interculturality, with a focus on the “good practices” promoted within the
educational contexts of partner institutions. The survey was conducted using a
semi-structured questionnaire, administered to a sample of educators and
pedagogical coordinators working in ECEC services of Florence, Barcelona, and
Budapest. The outcomes of the analysis of the data collected has shown that
strengthening the relationship between ECEC services and immigrant families
represents an important goal, in order to guarantee and promote the integration of
children and their families
Effect of pork back-fat reduction and substitution with texturized pea protein on acceptability and sensory characteristics of dry fermented sausages
Dry fermented sausages reduced in pork back-fat and replaced with texturized pea protein (TPP – 0, 10, 15, and 20%) were evaluated for acceptability and sensory properties using a Check-All-That-Apply (CATA) questionnaire under blind and informed conditions. Differences in acceptance were identified in both conditions, indicating that fat reduction and substitution with <15% TPP has a positive impact. Informed liking scores showed no difference from the blind ones. Hence, consumers gave more importance to sensory properties than to label. CATA results indicated that characteristic taste, high-fat amount and delicious can be considered drivers of liking, while acid, off-flavour and low-fat amount are of disliking. Frequency of consumption showed that regular consumers gave higher acceptability to samples, being those with ≥15% TPP less acceptable. Under both conditions, CATA reflected differences for attributes related with fat and texture. Reduction of fat and its replacement with 10% TPP was feasible with no detrimental impact on acceptability.
