NORMAL İŞİTEN YETİŞKİNLERDE TİPTRODE ELEKTROT ELEKTOKOKLEOGRAFİ YANITLARI

    No full text

General Anesthesia versus Sedation in Multi ParametricMagnetic Resonance Imaging (mpMRI) TransrectalUltrasound Guided (TRUS) Fusion Targeted Prostate Biopsy:A Prospective, Randomized Study

    No full text
Objectives: Different anesthetic methods have been used in multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging-guided (mpMRI) transrectal ultrasound guidance (TRUS) fusion-targeted prostate biopsy, but the consensus on the optimal anesthetic approach is not clear. In this study, the anesthesia management, procedural conditions, intraoperative adverse events, complications, discharge criteria, and cancer detection rates of general anesthesia and sedation were compared. Methods: Participants were randomly divided into general anesthesia (GA) and sedation (S) groups. The primary endpoint of the study was the surgical satisfaction score. The incidence of hypoxia, patient satisfaction, cancer detection rate, anesthetic agent consumption, recovery and hospitalization times, and complication rates were all compared as secondary outcomes. Results: There was no significant difference in the incidence of hypoxemia in both groups (Group G:0, Group S:2 patients, p=0.494). While there was no significant difference in surgical satisfaction scores (Group GA: 9.48 vs Group S: 9.23, p=0.353). PC detection rates (p=0.809) and complication rates were similar. Conclusion: With similar surgical conditions, complication incidence, and cancer detection rates, neither anesthesia approach did not provide surgical superiority over the other. The sedation approach, combined with careful monitoring of anesthesia depth, prevented hypoxemia, reduced anesthetic agent consumption, and allowed for faster recovery and discharge, allowing for ambulatory anesthesia

Highly conserved gene regulatory networks are responsible for pattern formation in development. In case of insects that host cellular endosymbionts, challenges are faced for understanding pattern formation because of the interactions between the endosymbiont and intercellular signals of the host developmental gene regulatory network. Studying how these networks are operated in the presence of endosymbionts is critical for understanding of the process of endosymbiosis at the organismal level as well as the evolution of developmental systems. We characterized Dorsal-Ventral (DV) patterning system of the ant, Camponotus floridanus. Since DV patterning depends heavily on Bone Morphogenetic Protein Signaling in many insects, we used molecular techniques such as gene cloning, in situ hybridization, and RNA interference to examine the expression and function of developmental genes that are particularly involved in Bone Morphogenetic Protein Signaling. Here we show the expression and function of core BMP signaling components for DV patterning of ant C. floridanus

The Impact of Hybrid Capture-Based Comprehensive Genomic Profiling on Treatment Strategies in Patients with Solid Tumors

© 2022 by Turkish Society of Medical Oncology. Objective: The development of bioinformatics and comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) has provided insights into the ap-plicability and functionality of the genomic alterations (GA). In this study, we evaluated the impact of CGP on the treatment plan and outcomes in a significant number of patients. Material and Methods: We carried out a retrospective case-control study on 164 adult patients with advanced solid tumors from 15 oncology centers in Türkiye. Results: In all cases, CGP was performed within 23.8 [standard deviation (SD)±32.1] months of initial diagnosis. Non-small cell lung carcinoma, breast cancer, unknown primary carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, and sarcoma were among the most common tumor types, accounting for 61.5% of all cases. CGP was performed immediately after the diagnosis of advanced cancer in 13 patients (7.9%). In 158 patients (96.4%), at least one GA was found as per the CGP report. Also, in the reports, the average tumor mutational burden (TMB) and GAs were 7.3 (SD±8.7) mut/Mb and 3.5 (SD±2.0), respectively. According to CGP reports, 58 patients had 79 evidence-based drug suggestions for their particular tumor type, whereas 97 patients had 153 evidence-based drug suggestions for another tumor type. After the primary oncologist interpreted the CGP reports, significant changes were made to the treatment of 35 (21.3%) patients. Conclusion: We strongly believe that in the future, high-TMB or other tumor-agnostic biomarkers will become much more afford-able, and CGP will serve as one of the major decision-making tools for the treatment of patients along with pathological, radiological or lab-oratory tests
