Magic realism in Arabic poetry: Waddah al-Yaman, Love and Death by Badawi al-Bayyati as an example
Considering the poem “About Waddah of Yemen, Love, and Death”, the research attempts an analysis through magical realism. It aims at an exposition of the artistic techniques employed by Al-Bayati in his poetic text that reflects his own experience, including such devices as intertextuality, symbolism, mythology, and character evocation. He narrates events whereby an inevitable intertwining of reality and mirth takes place, mainly for the purpose of analysis of and implicit revolt against the realities of social and political life. The descriptive-analytical method was adopted to recognize the components of magical realism in the poem and to identify the creative techniques by means of which Al-Bayyati achieves a peculiar sought meaning in the poem’s context. Some of the most important findings of the research indicated such things as the rise of intertextuality as a principal device in depicting magical realism inside the poem, as well as the significance of symbolism and ambiguity as essential characteristics throughout its entirety. The poet’s intertextuality with Arabic and Western literature attests to the profundity of his literary erudition and his familiarity with diverse literatures. This artistic style is not confined to prose; it permeates the beauty of poetry, though. Such a poem is a demonstration of magical realism in Arabic poetry
Families as partners: Insights from kindergarten teachers on parental engagement in Saudi Arabia
Research validates the link between parental engagement in education and improvement of student outcomes. Although this link is agreed upon by educators, particularly in Saudi Arabia, the perceptions of teachers regarding parental engagement are very scarce. This study explores kindergarten teachers’ perspectives on parental engagement in Saudi Arabia, examining its impact on children’s academic, social, and emotional development, as well as barriers and strategies to enhance engagement. Based on survey data from 273 teachers, the findings highlight the critical role of parental involvement, with work-related commitments and socio-economic constraints identified as major barriers. Private schools reported more proactive engagement strategies than public schools, emphasizing structured communication and collaboration. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions, including resource allocation, teacher training, and community partnerships, to foster equitable and effective family-school collaboration in early childhood education
Cultural and social influences on Saudi family travel decisions: A systematic-quantitative synthesis for enhancing domestic tourism competitiveness in the face of international tourism
This research analyzes the cultural and sociological elements affecting Saudi family travel choices (FTD) and their implications for domestic tourist competitiveness (DTC) amid global competition. Employing a mixed-methods approach—combining a systematic literature review (SLR) with partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) on data from 469 Saudi respondents—the research reveals that cultural influences (β = 0.452) and social influences (β = 0.338) significantly drive FTD, which in turn enhances DTC (β = 0.427). Direct impacts of cultural (β = 0.208) and social elements (β = 0.213) on DTC were also significant, whereas foreign tourism allure adversely moderates the FTD-DTC link (β = -0.106). The research correlates with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 8 (economic development), SDG 11 (sustainable communities), SDG 12 (responsible consumerism), and SDG 5 (women equality). Practical options include using Halal tourism, AI-driven marketing, and gender-inclusive regulations to boost local competitiveness while protecting cultural identity
Integration of traditional Sriwijaya music elements into progressive jazz: Innovation, aesthetics, and spirituality in a contemporary context
This paper explores the process of integrating traditional Sriwijayan musical elements into contemporary progressive jazz compositions. It analyzes aspects of harmony, rhythm, and improvisation through innovative modal approaches such as the Lydian Universe and pedal tone shifting. By examining the impact on creativity, cultural appreciation, and spirituality, the study demonstrates that the fusion of traditional heritage with progressive jazz results in works that are relevant, original, and rich in aesthetic and philosophical depth. The research reinforces the importance of cross-cultural approaches in the development of modern music rooted in local traditions. Beyond musical exploration, this integration also represents an intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, where traditional elements—such as regional melodic motifs, rhythmic patterns characteristic of South Sumatra, and the spiritual atmosphere of Sriwijayan ritual music—are woven into the complex and open structures of jazz. This approach not only broadens musical horizons but also offers a contemplative space for listeners through a profound aesthetic and spiritual experience. The study employs music analysis and qualitative research methods to illustrate both the creative process and audience perceptions of this hybrid work. The findings suggest that this integration creates a new musical language that bridges past and present, local and global, intellect and emotion, into a cohesive and meaningful musical expression
Interactive communication and academic achievement as indicators of the quality of the e-learning program
Considering the worldwide digital transformation witnessed by the education sector, especially after the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, this study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of an e-learning program based on the Moodle platform in developing interactive communication and increasing the level of academic achievement, as these two variables are key indicators of the quality of e-educational programs. The program was administrated to a sample of students of the Methods of Teaching Legality Sciences course, where a quasi-experimental methodology was followed that compares an experimental group that received education through the electronic program, and a control group followed the traditional method of learning. The results of this study showed the effectiveness of the suggested electronic program, based on the Moodle system, in developing interactive communication in e-learning and increasing the level of academic achievement among students. One of the main achievements provided by this study is to emphasize that electronic interaction does not have an extra value, but it is an essential element of high-quality educational design, experimental data have proven that programs that were characterized by a high degree of interaction (whether the learner’s interaction with the teacher, his colleagues or the content) clearly contributed to improving academic learning outcomes, and enhancing the sense of belonging and presence within the learning environment. This study provides a practical framework for measuring the effectiveness of electronic programs by tracking the dynamics of interaction within the Learning environment, analyzing the relationship between communication patterns (student-teacher, student-content, student-student) and actual educational outcomes. It also contributes to suggesting an evaluative model based on evidence-based educational practices, which can be adopted by higher education institutions to ensure the quality of design and implementation of their electronic courses
Applying Habermas’s theory to Vision 2030 initiatives to promote national identity: A critical analysis
This study applies the principles of Habermas’s theory of communicative action to the initiatives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on the role of effective communication in fostering national identity. The research provides a comprehensive review of Vision 2030 documents and policies related to community dialogue and communication, including news archives, public initiatives and programs, and government announcements. Additionally, the study explores the role of e-government platforms in enhancing communication between the government and citizens and how they contribute to a more transparent and participatory decision-making process. The findings suggest that Habermas’s principles, particularly those related to communicative action, can significantly enhance community dialogue and foster mutual understanding among different cultural groups within Saudi society. These principles can strengthen national identity by integrating diverse voices and perspectives into the broader societal discourse.Via creating platforms for open communication, Vision 2030’s initiatives encourage active engagement and inclusivity—key elements in building a cohesive and united nation. The study recommends increasing investments in community communication and interaction programs, particularly training individuals in practical communication skills. Such training will empower citizens to engage in constructive dialogues, promoting mutual understanding and supporting the achievement of Vision 2030’s overarching goals. The research also highlights the critical importance of expanding media use to facilitate open discussions on a range of social, cultural, and political issues, reinforcing transparency and fostering a more informed and engaged citizenry

Reasoning (ta‘līl) has been a cornerstone in the development of Arabic grammar, significantly shaping its theoretical foundations and analytical methodologies. This study traces the historical evolution of reasoning in the Arabic grammatical tradition, examining its origins, key influences, and major transformations. It explores how classical grammarians justified linguistic rules, identified underlying linguistic patterns, and provided logical explanations for grammatical structures. Additionally, the research investigates the different manifestations of reasoning in syntactic, morphological, and phonological analyses. By highlighting the role of reasoning in Arabic grammar, this study underscores its impact on linguistic thought and its continued relevance to contemporary linguistic research
The effect of transformational entrepreneurship on competitive advantage in tourism and hospitality organizations through organizational support and employee resilience
This study investigates the effect of transformational entrepreneurship on competitive advantage in tourism and hospitality organizations, with a focus on the mediating roles of organizational support and employee resilience. Drawing on data from 421 employees across Egyptian travel agencies, the research employs Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test hypothesized relationships. Results reveal that transformational entrepreneurship positively influences competitive advantage (β = 0.16, p < 0.01), organizational support (β = 0.66, p < 0.01), and employee resilience (β = 0.66, p < 0.01). Organizational support (β = 0.27, p < 0.01) and employee resilience (β = 0.45, p < 0.01) further exert significant direct effects on competitive advantage. Mediation analysis confirms that both organizational support (β = 0.178, p < 0.01) and employee resilience (β = 0.297, p < 0.01) partially mediate the relationship between transformational entrepreneurship and competitive advantage. These findings underscore the importance of integrating transformational leadership, robust support systems, and resilience-building initiatives to foster sustainable competitive differentiation in dynamic markets. The study advances theoretical frameworks by linking transformational entrepreneurship to resource-based and dynamic capabilities theories, while offering practical insights for enhancing organizational agility and workforce adaptability in the tourism and hospitality sector
Minang oral discourse in minority ethnic communities in developing Lake Toba tourism area, Indonesia: A sociopragmatic perspective
This study explores the strategies of minority communities in the Lake Toba tourist area in maintaining harmony through a sociopragmatic study. It recommends developing tourism potential by strengthening local branding and effective communication patterns between minority and majority ethnic groups. This study uses sociopragmatic theory to analyze data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, literature, and field notes in 7 district locations around the Lake Toba area. This study explains the blending and politeness of speech acts in the Minang community in the Lake Toba area. The indigenous community and newcomers from different cultures agreed to merge through an indirect agreement. The Minangkabau community practices assertive communication behavior and follows certain sayings and proverbs. Various speech acts of the Minang community can be categorized as assertive, directive, commissive, and expressive. The study also noted that the most dominant speech act is the directive act
Female ESL teachers’ challenges at the tertiary level in India: An analysis during pre-pandemic, pandemic, and post-pandemic
This study explores the effectiveness of female English language teachers at the tertiary level in India in achieving optimal results with students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds during the pre-pandemic, pandemic, and post-pandemic periods. Women in the 21st century have made significant strides across professions, contributing notably to the socio-economic growth of the country. Teaching, considered a noble and suitable profession, remains a preferred career choice for women in India. At the tertiary level, particularly in teaching English as a second language, teachers face numerous challenges; however, female educators encounter unique obstacles. This study examines these challenges in the Indian context, noting disparities in the distribution of female teachers at various educational levels and the initial hurdles in entering higher education. Once in the profession, teaching diverse students requires additional skills and adaptability. The COVID-19 pandemic further introduced significant shifts in the teaching-learning process. Using a qualitative research design, this study includes classroom observations (offline and online), informal interviews, and teacher questionnaires. Findings reveal the impact of domestic, social, and environmental factors on teaching effectiveness and highlight how female educators overcome these barriers by adapting, innovating, and managing multiple responsibilities, demonstrating resilience in ever-changing scenarios
