    Leadership Challenges in Tertiary Education

    This paper examined the problems facing tertiary institutions leaders in Nigeria. Secondary data were used in the paper. The data were collected from print and online publications. The paper identified inadequate funding, shortage of academic staff, inadequate infrastructure facilities, political influence, strike actions, brain-drain, oppositions from unions and Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) as problems tertiary institutions leaders in Nigeria are faced with. To solve the challenges, the following were recommended: increment in the funding of public tertiary institutions in the Nigeria. Employment more academic staff in all tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Provision of adequate infrastructural facilities to all the tertiary institutions in in the country. Provision of adequate security in all tertiary institutions in the country

    Supervision is critical for the attainment of quality education. Supervision of human and materials resources is very important in curriculum implementation. Supervision of curriculum implementation in Nigeria is plagued with many challenges. This paper discussed challenges facing curriculum implementation in the Nigerian schools. Secondary data collected from both print and online publications were used for the paper. The paper concluded that poor funding, insecurity problems, challenge of transportation facilities, distance, shortage of supervision and inadequate supervision materials. Based on tis challenges identified, the suggested the following; Government should increase the funding of instructional supervision of schools across the country. Government should employ more professional supervisors and deploy them to federal, states and local government ministries and agencies. More supervisory materials should be provided for all supervisors working in the federal and state ministries and department in charge of schools supervision. Government should provide adequate transportation facilities for all the departments and agencies in charge of school supervision in the various across state of federation

    Taxis in the Works of the Linguistic Research Schools

    The study of taxis as a linguistic phenomenon began with the American linguists L. Bloomfield and B. Whorf [Bloomfield 1946], [Whorf 1946]. While studying material from Algonquian and Hopi, the morphologically rich North American Indian languages, the authors encountered a verb class that had not been considered anywhere else until now. Around the same time, G. Reichenbach [Reichenbach 1947] proposed a relative time model describing the semantics of the pluperfect or past tense. This model includes, in addition to the moment of speech and the moment of the situation, a third point - the reference time, which is an intermediate link between the first two components. The concept of taxi was elaborated in the studies of structuralists and further developed in the works of St. Petersburg typological school and foreign cognitive linguistics.
