Relationship between implicit learning and reading development in young bilingual children

    No full text
In this project we examine the relationship between implicit learning and reading development in English-Chinese bilingual children. Through examination of their performance in the implicit learning task and in a large battery of language measures, we aim to elucidate the mechanism through which implicit learning contributes to reading development in different languages, and determine if its contribution changes across time

This work focuses on achieving security in the terahertz (THz) band using a MIMO wiretap channel. The source employs transmit antenna selection (TAS), while the main user and eavesdropper use maximal ratio combining (MRC) with their respective antennas. Statistical characteristics are derived to evaluate secrecy performance, leading to closed-form expressions for secrecy outage probability and positive secrecy capacity. Results indicate improved secrecy performance due to transmit diversity techniques, with additional security enhancements from channel nonlinearity and multi-path effects

Replication Data for: Reconfigurable Chiral Spintronic THz Emitters

Collective spin arrangements manifest diverse spin textures, encompassing ferromagnetism, antiferromagnetism, and chiral vortices. However, mapping these spin textures in ultrathin magnetic multilayers has remained elusive. We introduce a reconfigurable chiral spintronic terahertz emission method through investigations on a model system of synthetic antiferromagnet and extract the spin information of the individual ferromagnet (FM) layers. Upon femtosecond photoexcitation of the synthetic antiferromagnet (FM1/Ru/FM2), the ferromagnets generate a pair of linearly polarized ultrafast spin currents, which, after relaxation at the FM/Ru interface, emit corresponding THz pulses. The Ruderman–Kittel–Kasuya–Yosida interactions between the two FMs create magnetic-field-controlled spin textures, and the induced relaxation asymmetry at the interfaces leads to a phase shift in THz orthogonal fields, causing the radiation to change from linear to circular polarization. The method will provide an innovative probe for electronic and magnetic states in ultrathin spintronic heterostructures, low-dimensional quantum materials, topological insulators, Weyl semimetals and facilitate exploration of spin textures such as skyrmions, merons, and solitons

The magnetic behavior of type-II superconductors is explained by a quantum vortex with a supercurrent encircling a coherence-length sized core. In a superconducting film with thickness t < λL, the vortex field decays slowly as 1/r2, extending to the Pearl length =22, known as the Pearl vortex, rather than diverging as log(1/r) and decaying with London penetration depth, λL, as in Abrikosov vortex. However, the effect of Pearl vortex on large enhancement of kinetic inductance had not been fully explored. Here, we discovered Pearl inductance, an additional form of kinetic inductance arising from geometrical structuring of high-Tc YBCO superconductor thin films (Tc~81K) at the scale. This results from extension of vortex screening supercurrents from λL to 14λL in an ultrathin meta-atom of thickness λL/7, enabling terahertz superinductance. Our device show impedance exceeding the quantum resistance limit ≈6.47 Ω by 33%, offering possibilities for cutting-edge electronic, photonic, and quantum devices
