Högpresterande HMI-komponenter i WinCC Unified
Many industrial operator interfaces are designed without a clear focus on user needs. Research shows that a significant share of accidents in the process industry today are caused by human errors and operator misinterpretations. To improve safety and operational efficiency, future HMI systems should increasingly adopt research-based design principles for effective and user-friendly HMIs. Over the past decade, leading international organizations in automation have developed standards with concrete guidelines on such interfaces, including ISA101 and IEC63303. The purpose of this thesis was to develop a company-wide standard for reusable HMI components in WinCC Unified that follow the principles of High Performance HMI as described in these standards. The components were implemented as faceplates with a focus on consistency and reusability. The project also examined how the faceplates could be implemented with existing company-wide code libraries in a structured and efficient way, and therefore a standardized UDT interface was also developed. The system was evaluated through user tests with participants of varying experience levels in industrial automation, and results show that the new components supported situational awareness and did show a high degree of usability, particularly for less experienced users. The standard also proved to be highly modular and efficient to implement, as shown by its practical use during the construction of the test environment
The Personalization of Electoral Participation? : The Relationship Between Trait Evaluations of Presidential Candidates and Turnout Decisions in American Presidential Elections 1980–2020
The personalization thesis claims that leaders’ influence over voters has increased. While research consistently shows that candidates influence party choice, we know little about their effects on the prior decision to turn out in elections. This article represents the first study to examine the relationship between candidate trait evaluations and turnout decisions in the American context and the first longitudinal study of the phenomenon. The study utilizes ANES data to test three hypotheses drawn from theories on electoral participation and personalized politics in U.S. presidential elections between 1980 and 2020. The results show that while trait evaluations of Republican candidates consistently affect turnout, perceptions of Democratic candidates’ competence mobilize voters in specific elections. Moreover, individual polarization promotes turnout, particularly among partisan dealigned voters with different perceptions of the candidates’ competence. The results indicate a personalization of electoral participation that can benefit civic engagement and democratic quality.

Prevalence of body dysmorphic disorder and its association with mental health status among medical and dental students in Bangladesh
Background: The prevalence of body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is becoming a significant concern, especially among adolescents and young adults, which sometimes leads to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and suicidal ideation. We aimed to explore the prevalence of BDD and its association with mental health status among medical and dental students in Bangladesh. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among Bangladeshi medical and dental students from January to May 2024. Body dysmorphic disorder was measured by using the Body Dysmorphic Disorder Questionnaire (BDDQ), and PHQ-9, GAD-7, and Rosenberg self-esteem scale determined mental health status. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 25. Poisson regression presented as prevalence ratio (PR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) with a p-value of < 0.05 was considered significant. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval was obtained from North South University, and consent was obtained from all participants prior to data collection. Results: The overall prevalence of BDD was found to be 22.5%. The result of Poisson regression analysis showed that students from public institutes had a 1.84 times higher prevalence of BDD than those from public institutes (95% CI: 1.33–2.55; p < 0.001). Students from the clinical year had a 1.38 times higher prevalence of BDD compared to the students in the pre-clinical year (95% CI:1.01–1.94; p = < 0.05). Students who were obese had a 2.54 times higher prevalence of BDD than those who were underweight (95% CI: 1.36–4.77; p < 0.001). Students who used alcohol had 3.64 times higher prevalence of BDD than that of students who did not have any addiction or dependency (95% CI: 1.32–10.03). Those who exercised or participated in physical activity had 28% lower prevalence of BDD (95% CI: 0.53–0.96; p = 0.031). Participants with mild depression had a 2.03 times higher prevalence of BDD (95% CI: 1.15–3.60, p = 0.015) than those with no depression. However, no significant association was observed in the case of anxiety and self-esteem levels. Conclusion: The prevalence of BDD was high among medical and dental students in Bangladesh. Several factors, such as the type of institute, academic year, BMI, addiction/dependence habit, physical activity/exercise and depression severity were significantly associated with BDD.
Unbalanced-flux Concept for High Power Density Magnetics and Review of the MHz LLC Transformers
High-power-density magnetics are often designed through the MHz-frequency approach, but this method is constrained by excessive core losses, which restrict operation to very low magnetic flux density B, typically lower than 70 mT. Since magnetic power scales with the square of B, this fundamentally limits achievable power density. In practice, the average power density of state-of-the-art MHz magnetic designs remains around 70 W/cm3, far below the requirements of emerging applications. To overcome these limitations, we propose the unbalanced-flux concept, a new magnetic architecture that replaces the traditional balancedflux design paradigm. This approach reduces core loss by approximately 70%, enabling operation at substantially higher B. As a result, the concept achieves a threefold increase in power density compared to MHz-based designs. The approach is experimentally validated in a 1 kW, 380 V/48 V LLC transformer prototype. With natural air cooling, the transformer delivers 750 W at a record 224 W/cm3. With a heatsink, it achieves 190 W/cm3 at 1 kW, with a peak efficiency of 94.6%. These results demonstrate that unbalanced-flux magnetics provide a scalable pathway beyond the MHz, low-B limitations toward the next generation of ultra-high-power-density magnetic components.
Stability of Hold and Postural Control During Static Hold Assessment Can Provide Valuable Information for Biathlon Standing Shooting but Aiming Strategy Should Be Acknowledged
This study investigated stability of hold and postural control in a static holding task and a biathlon standing shooting task, and shooting performance, examining the associations between these tasks and potential differences between biathletes employing a hold-based (HBS) or timing-based (TBS) aiming strategy. Twenty-two biathletes completed a static holding test in the standing shooting posture (Holding) and a biathlon standing shooting test (Shooting) using dry shots. Postural control was evaluated using force platforms, and stability of hold was assessed using a Vicon motion capture system (Holding) and a Noptel training device (Shooting). Of the stability of hold measures, links between the tasks were observed in aiming point vertical standard deviation (R = 0.78) and vertical mean velocity (R = 0.74) in HBS and in vertical mean velocity (R = 0.62) in TBS (all P < 0.05). Regardless of aiming strategy, most postural control measures in Holding correlated with their counterparts in Shooting (R = 0.48 to 0.94 and P < 0.05) and shooting performance (hit point distance from the centre of the target) correlated with stability of hold measured during Holding (R = 0.74 and P < 0.001). Among the postural control measures, shooting performance was only clearly linked to front leg postural control measured during Holding in TBS (R = 0.87 and P < 0.003). These findings suggest that static holding ability and postural control are important in biathlon standing shooting regardless of aiming strategy but aiming dynamics during Holding align more closely with the practices of HBS during their shooting
Effects of Post-Exercise Heat Exposure on Acute Recovery and Training-Induced Performance Adaptations : A Systematic Review
Background: Whole-body heat exposure, such as sauna bathing or hot water immersion (HWI) has been shown to induce various physiological adaptations that can improve athletic performance. However, the effects of post-exercise heat exposure on acute recovery and promoting training-induced performance adaptations are not well understood. The aim of this systematic review was to summarise the current evidence on the effects of post-exercise heat exposure on physical performance in healthy adults. Methods: This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A systematic search for articles was conducted in December 2023 and updated in June 2025 using the PubMed, SPOLIT, Medline, and SPORTDiscus databases. Eligible studies were randomised or crossover trials comparing whole-body post-exercise heat exposure (≥ 36 °C, e.g., hot water immersion to at least sternum level, or sauna bathing) to passive or placebo recovery. The risk of bias of the included studies was assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool version 2. Only studies that provided results on maximal physical performance outcomes in healthy adults were included. Results: Fourteen studies, including a total of 194 participants, met the inclusion criteria. Nine studies investigated acute effects after heat exposure and five were long-term training intervention studies. The acute studies reported uncertain results, with studies showing no effects (n = 4), beneficial (n = 4), or adverse (n = 1) effects of post-exercise heat exposure on performance recovery. The chronic studies suggested that post-exercise heating may improve running performance, at least in hot conditions. However, repeated heat exposures had no effect on cycling performance or VO<inf>2</inf>max. The overall quality of the evidence was low to moderate. The heterogeneity of study designs, heating protocols, exercise modes, performance outcomes and recovery times precluded meta-analysis. Conclusion: Based on the current evidence, it is not possible to draw definitive conclusions about the effects of post-exercise heat exposure on recovery and physical performance development. Additional high-quality studies are needed to determine the optimal heat exposure methods and recovery strategies for different types of training and performance outcomes.
