Investigating the degradation of tannin furanic foams in soil environments

    No full text
In the search for bio-based alternatives to petroleum-based materials, extensive research has been carried out on tannin- based foams over the last decades, demonstrating their potential use as insulation materials for buildings. These foams have been studied in depth for their chemical and physical properties and were already considered for upscaling. However, concerns remain about the end of their life cycle. While tannin foams can be partially recycled in new tannin foams, reused as ammonia scavenger, or thermally valorised, their impact on soil upon disposal or when potentially used as ammonia mitigators in agriculture remains unclear. This study investigated the degradation dynamics and potential effects of tan- nin furanic polymer on soil health. A decrease in the mass of the tannin foam particles by about 10% within 24 weeks indicated microbial degradation, which was further enhanced by the occurrence of leachable fractions throughout the experiment. Chemically, this degradation was associated with a reduction in carbohydrates and/or furanics, leading to a relative increase in aromatic components, paralleled by increased β-glucosidase activity. Phenol oxidase and arylesterase activities fluctuated depending on time and soil type, suggesting their roles in different stages of phenolic degradation, while catechol oxidase activity either decreased or remained unchanged. Enzymatic activities for FDA and β-glucosidase, indicators of soil health and microbial activity, tendentially increased in the presence of tannin foam, showing that the tested foam had no negative effect on general soil microbial activity

Ekonomija smrti: siva cona, kanibalski vojni stroj in kapitalistično kopičenje v Latinski Ameriki

    No full text
This article argues, based on the analysis of extortion and criminal governance in México, that criminal activities should be understood as a key component of contemporary capital accumulation. This criminal accumulation of capital requires the suspension of restrictions on illegal activities, generating zones of legal-illegal indistinction that allow profitability, shared sovereignties and cannibal war machines that, through violence, generate the extraction of goods, income and bodies in line with the neoliberal enterprise. This means that criminal capital carries out, in an extreme and nihilistic way, the logic of value. To omogoča profitabilnost, deljene suverenosti in kanibalske vojne stroje, ki preko nasilja omogočajo ekstrakcijo dobrin, dohodkov in teles v skladu z neoliberalno logiko podjetništva. Članek ugotavlja, da kriminalni kapital na skrajen in nihilističen način udejanja logiko vrednosti

The paper focuses on the artistic career of the conductor Lovro von Matačić (1899–1985) in his younger years, between the two world wars, when he frequently performed in Slovenia, a period that represented a source of inspiration and artistic growth. After examining the influence of musical training, which shapes and lays the foundation for the career of every artist, the paper then looks at previous scholarly analyses and findings and considers the influence of Matačić’s capacity for individual expression on the conductor’s rostrum, the pulsations of the cultural environment and the abilities of the performing ensembles with which Matačić worked on the overall principle of artistic expression. Matačić was a conductor capable of complementing the sound picture with the mental and emotional characteristics of the composer and the knowledge, abilities and energies of the performer. He believed that there was no such thing as a final or definitive interpretation and that a musical work is only “completed” when it is the subject of profound interpretation that takes into account the whole of the composer’s personality, the circumstances in which the work was created and the structure of the piece, while also giving due consideration to the composer’s idea, all musical elements and the architectural structure of the form. It was his conviction that immersing oneself in a composer’s oeuvre, their character and the circumstances surrounding the creation of a work was a lengthy process and therefore dedicated himself to certain specific works throughout his life, in this way deepening his contact with the composer and achieving interpretations of the highest possible calibre. Lovro von Matačić had highly developed intuitive abilities and great personal energy and these factors combined to shape his interpretation of a chosen work. He was an individual of tireless energy who breathed life into written music and, time and again, impressed upon it his own unique and convincing stamp.

The digital environment is different from natural and social environments. Technologies are evolving to support new methods of collaborative learning and interaction. A key challenge is to ensure that technology-enhanced education is effective and creates a supportive environment for students. This requires considering adaptive motivations, emotions, and psychological factors such as intrinsic motivation, cognitive load and self-regulation, all which influence student engagement and success in digital learning. This chapter provides an overview of literature on psychological processes important in digital learning. Factors such as motivation, cognitive management, and self-regulation shape student performance in these environments. The psychology of digital learning explores the cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions of education in the digital age. Research aims to optimize these environments for better learning outcomes. Understanding these psychological elements is essential for educators to create more effective, engaging, and enjoyable digital learning experiences, though the field is still developing, and many aspects remain to be explored. Psihologija digitalnega učenja raziskuje kognitivne, čustvene in socialne razsežnosti izobraževanja v digitalni dobi.

Iskanje popolnega prirejanja v F_2^n z določenimi razlikami

We consider the following question by Balister, Győri and Schelp: given 2^{n-1} nonzero vectors in F_2^n with zero sum, is it always possible to partition the elements of F_2^n into pairs such that the difference between the two elements of the i-th pair is equal to the i-th given vector for every i? An analogous question in F_p, which is a case of the so-called "seating couples" problem, has been resolved by Preissmann and Mischler in 2009. In this paper, we prove the conjecture in F_2^n in the case when the number of distinct values among the given difference vectors is at most n-2log(n)-1, and also in the case when at least a fraction 1/2+ε of the given vectors are equal (for all ε>0 and n sufficiently large based on ε)
