Intercultural Competences in Health Care - Judaism
The present times and Poland's entry into the European Union, the opening of borders, has intensified the phenomenon of migration of the population and contact between different cultures. In Poland, national minorities have been living since the dawn of time, but the current situation has a different dimension. Until now, the term "Transculturality" was not known in our country. However, the influx of people from the remotest parts of the world caused a situation requiring medical personnel to perceive the patient through the prism of biological, social and psychological needs as well as from the angle of other religions. Problems that appear taking care of such patients have caused that I decided to look at this issue on the example of Judaism believers. The aim of my work is to get the opinion of health professionals about intercultural competences in direct care of these patients
Measuring satisfaction from sports competitions on the example of a triathlon
Introduction: Knowledge about participants of a sporting event is very important. Sponsors expect from
the organizers of such events knowledge about participants - who they are, what are their expectations,
how much they are willing to spend during a sports event. Mullin et al. (2007) developed The staircase
approach to sport marketing, which describes the involvement of sports viewers. Through the development
of mass sports (street runs - half marathons and marathons, obstacle courses, triathlons), earlier
viewers become factors contributing to sports events. By this fact, there is a lack of knowledge about
them (viewers). Shank & Lyberger (2015) noticed that for sponsors, apart from demographic factors, also
aspects affecting the satisfaction of the competition. Edwards & Skinner (2009) appreciate the importance
of ethnography research. Research carried out by the author in 2017 among triathlonists focused on the
recognition of sponsors’ brands. Analyzing the collected data, it was noted that the correlation takes place
through the place of sponsorship exposure, not the size of sponsorship fees. In connection with such results,
the next step is to defi ne the player profi le itself and him events satisfaction, so that the sponsors
and organizers can prepare a more personalized offer. Aim: Identifi cation of the satisfaction participant of
triathlon events for marketing purposes (and organising). Methods: The study of triathletes profi les and
event satisfaction was carried out using the on-line survey method (5-point Likert scale), by sending one
week after event to participants of the Enea Bydgoszcz Triathlon - the largest amateur event in Poland
(2972 participants), messages with a request to supplement the questionnaire. Answers were given by 466
(about 15,7% all Enea Bydgoszcz Triathlon participants). Results and Discussion: Participants assessed
the event in three aspects: pre-event activities, event organization, accompanying events. The highest result
(on a fi ve-point scale) in the aspect of pre-event activities was achieved by “effi ciency of issuing starter
packages” - 4.9 points, the lowest “content of starter packages” - 4.3 points. Aspects during the event
- the best result was obtained by the change zone (4.89 points), the worst protection of the crossings by
tram tracks (3.85 points). References: Shank, M.D., Lyberger M.R. (2015). Sports marketing a strategic

Review of the methodology of lower limb prosthesis
Background: The replacement of inefficient or lost organs, especially in the case of lower ends, is associated with a huge experience for the patient, especially in emotional terms. However, with the development of medicine and technology, they allow patients, with properly conducted rehabilitation, to achieve satisfaction with the obtained effects of the treatment. The variety of forms of lower limb prosthesis depends primarily on the location of the prosthesis. Material and methods: Analysis of available literature, articles in the Google Scholar and PubMed database using keywords: Prosthesis, Lower limb, Amputation Results: The lower limb prosthesis is built from a funnel that matches the stump, the mechanism of the knee joint, shin and the foot. Pours that are used at the lower extremities include: a quadrangular funnel, an ICS longitudinal oval or a CAD-CAM, a full-contact hip funnel, a residual femoral funnel or vacuum syphilis used in people with neoplastic amputations. In the case of knee joints, the distinction is made based on the number of axes around which the movement takes place. So we distinguish uniaxial and multi-axis joints. As important as the other parts is the construction of the prosthetic foot, because it is responsible for supporting the limb stabilizers through passive control of the ankle bending. Conclusions: With the new generation of lower limbs prostheses, the patient can lead an active professional life, as well as practice various sports disciplines. However, this does not change the fact that there is still a great need for research, and holistic cooperation to increase the efficiency and satisfaction of life of amputees in the lower limbs
Cognitive analytical tools for cost management of innovation activity
Promotion of innovations on the market is hampered in Ukraine by the lack of meth- odological approaches for analyzing the e ciency of innovative projects. e lack of appropriate methodology leads companies to refuse to innovate because of the un- certainty of nal economic outcomes. e introduction of project based methods for innovation activity management allows, on the one hand, to reconcile strategic and operational objectives within the innovation process, innovation activity and general nancial and economic activity of the enterprise, and on the other hand, to implement cognitive approaches to organization of company’s innovation management.
e research argues the possibilities of applying the canonical correlation method for structuring the causal links between the determined components of a company inno- vative capability, such as innovation potential, innovative business opportunities and system margin. As these components may be further assessed by quantitative indices, the method of regression analysis is also used to develop analytical tools for innovation management, which allow to reveal the interrelated impact of expenses on the results of innovation activity. e paper analyzes changes in a company innovative capability that can be provoked by increased material, depreciation, labor and information costs and discusses directions of interrelated changes. Practical testing of submitted propos- als is realized based on the Ukrainian companies’ statements for 2012–2017
A Profile of a Participant of Triathlon Events
The article focuses on the characteristics of the profiles of participants of triathlon events. The main purpose of the article is to answer the question of who the participants are (gender, age), how much money they spend on accommodation and food during the competition and what their main reasons to take part in the triathlon events are. The scientific research was conducted using an online survey - by sending an e-mail to the participants one of the largest triathlon event in Poland - Enea Bydgoszcz Triathlon
Polish polar research in the field of meteorology and climatology
W artykule dokonano przeglądu i podsumowania dorobku polskich badań
meteorologicznych i klimatologicznych w obydwu obszarach polarnych w ujęciu historycznym.
Omówiono różne aspekty tegoż dorobku, poczynając od organizacji i udziału
w wyprawach polarnych, prowadzonego w ich trakcie zakresu pomiarów i obserwacji
meteorologicznych oraz uzyskanych wyników dotyczących poznania pogody i klimatu
badanych obszarów. Scharakteryzowano także dorobek publikacyjny nie będący wynikiem
udziału w pomiarach i obserwacjach meteorologicznych w ramach ekspedycji polarnych, lecz efektem innych prac badawczych. Przeprowadzona szczegółowa analiza
aktywności polskich naukowców w zakresie meteorologii i klimatologii polarnej w okresie
od jej rozpoczęcia (koniec XIX wieku) do chwili obecnej wykazała istnienie czterech
wyraźnych okresów (fal) o wyraźnie większym natężeniu tej aktywności: 1) lata 30.,
2) 1957-1962, 3) lata 70., szczególnie ich druga połowa, 4) ostatnie trzydzieści lat z maksimum
w okresie 2004-2009 (okres przygotowawczy 2004-2007 i IV Międzynarodowy
Rok Polarny 2007-2009). Chociaż obszarem badań meteorologicznych i klimatologicznych
prowadzonych przez polskich naukowców były obydwa obszary polarne, to jednak
zdecydowanie największe osiągnięcia badawcze i publikacyjne (w tym w czasopismach
z bazy Journal Citation Reports) dotyczą Svalbardu.
The article presents a synthetic review and summary of the achievements of Polish
meteorological and climatological research in both polar areas, with a historical perspective.
Various aspects of these achievements are discussed, beginning with the organisation
of and participation in polar expeditions, the scope of meteorological measurements
and observations conducted during research, and results from weather and climate
research in the study areas. Publications that have resulted from research other than
meteorological measurements and observations conducted as part of polar expeditions
are also described. A detailed analysis of the activity of Polish scientists in the field of polar
climatology and meteorology since its inception in the late nineteenth century revealed
four distinct periods (waves) of clearly more intense activity: 1) the 1930s, 2) 1957-1962,
3) the 1970s, especially the latter half, 4) the last 30 years, with a peak in 2004-2009
(preparatory period 2004-2007 and IV International Polar Year 2007-2009). Although
the meteorological and climatological research conducted by Polish scientists included
both polar regions, decidedly the greatest research and publication achievements (including
journals from the Journal Citation Reports database) concern Svalbard. It was found that,
alongside Norwegian researchers, Polish scientists account for the largest share in the diagnosis
of weather and climate conditions in this area. A detailed analysis of the research issues
led to the conclusion that Polish meteorological and climatological research is very comprehensive
but, nevertheless, its specialisations, especially with regards to studies on Svalbard,
are: 1) micro-climatic research, and especially topoclimatic research; and 2) research into
the influence of atmospheric circulation in determining weather and climate.Narodowe Centrum Nauki, projekt nr 2015/19/B/ST10/0293
Between Imitation and Embeddedness: Three Types of Polish Alternative Food Networks
Artykuł poświęcony jest analizie procesów zakorzenienia i zapożyczenia w konstruowaniu zrównoważonych systemów produkcji żywności w Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej.Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the specific character of Alternative Food Networks
(AFNs) in Poland as one of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).We refer to the issue
increasingly debated in the social sciences, that is, how to translate academic models embedded
in specific social contexts to other contexts, as we trace the process of adapting ideas and patterns
of AFNs developed in the West to the semi-peripheral context of CEE countries. Drawing on the
theory of social practices, we divide the analysis into three essential areas: The ideas of the network,
its materiality, and the activities within the network. We have done secondary analysis of the
research material, including seven case studies the authors worked on in the past decade. We
distinguish three network models—imitated, embedded and mixed—which allow us to establish
a specific post-transformational AFN growth theory. Particular attention should be paid to the
type of embedded networks, as they highlight the possibility of local and original forms of AFNs.
Mixed networks show that ideas imported from abroad need to be considered in juxtaposition and
connection with local circumstances. This research was funded by Polish National Science Centre, grant number UMO-2017/26/D/HS6/0083
Relationships between changes in entropy of the EEG and parameters of the immunity
Background. Previously, we have shown that the entropy of the normalized parameters of the HRV and spectral power density (SPD) of loci of EEG significantly correlate with the entropy and parameters of immunity, which testifies to their modulating regulatory effects. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationships between changes in entropy and immunity under the influence of natural adaptogens. Material and methods. In basal conditions in 37 men and 14 women with chronic pyelonephritis and cholecystitis in remission as well as without clinical diagnose but with dysfunction of neuro-endocrine-immune complex and metabolism, we recorded twice, before and after balneotherapy at the spa Truskavets’, EEG (“NeuroCom Standard”) and HRV (“Cardiolab+VSR”). Than we evaluated immune status on a set of I and II levels recommended by the WHO. The Entropy of normalized SPD for each locus of EEG and HRV as well as Immunocytogram and Leukocytogram calculated using Shannon’s formula. Results. Preliminary analysis revealed different orientation of entropy changes in patients, so three clusters were created. Balneotherapy has a generalized negentropic effect on EEG of 2/3 patients. On the other hand, the members of the other two clusters have substantially increased EEG entropy overall, but there are significant differences with respect to individual loci. The immunotropic effects of balneotherapy are unrelated to changes in integral entropy of EEG. As a result of discriminant analysis were selected as characteristic entropy changes at only 9 loci out of 16, accompanied by changes in 10 partial parameters of immunity and integral immune index, as well as Popovych’s Leukocytogram Strain Index-2. Conclusion. Balneotherapy causes multivariate entropy changes of individual EEG loci, conditioned by a number of predictors. This is accompanied by characteristic changes in certain parameters of immunity in line with the concept of immune homunculus
Badania wschodnioeuropejskie jako dziedzina nauk politycznych w II Rzeczypospolitej
After the times of partitions and reunification of partitioned territories, organisation of science in the Second Polish Republic had become a political task, to which the scientists of all disciplines devoted themselves with great engagement. Historical studies had a special position in this process. They served finding the identity of society and the legitimacy of the modern Polish national state. On this basis not only close connection between science and politics were formed, but also personal links with often unclear boundaries between scientists and politicians. Considering the historical burden on relations to eastern neighbours, especially to Russia, research on Eastern Europe had a special responsibility. It provided the political argumentation for the Eastern European paradigms of Poland, as a location on the border of the Western civilisation, serving as a protection wall against Russian danger which proved to be especially dangerous in the form of Bolshevism for the whole area of Europe. In this field the traditional research on Russia cooperated equally close with politics and formed new fields of research, like formed in Poland Sovietology. In this constellation Poland decisively determined the level of research in Europe
Sindaca, sindachessa or sindaco, Italian Lexicography Dilemmas After the Municipal Election in 2016
Social and cultural transitions are the starting point of our considerations. The growing role of women on the Italian labour market also determined linguistic discourse. The high point we would like to refer to is the municipal election in 2016 when in two metropolises, Rome and Turin, women (Virginia Raggi and Chiara Appendino) became mayors. A lot of doubts of linguistic nature appeared at that time. Interlocutors started to deliberate which forms are appropriate and should be used, and which would be depreciatory and regarded as a sign of discrimination. Theoretical frames of our debate are marked by lexicographical information and Italian linguists' opinions. Raggi’s and Appendino’s statements as well as words of people talking about them represent the practical part of the debate.
