Effect of demographic characteristics of enterprises on the implementation of corporate social responsibility in SMEs context
Get PDFThe results confirm that the country in which a company conducts its business activities and company size are significant factors affecting perceptions concerning the implementation of CSR. Entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic are significantly less likely to agree with the importance and implementation of CSR than entrepreneurs in Poland. Similar results were attained when comparing micro-enterprises and medium-sized enterprises, with microenterprises significantly less likely to agree with statements on CSR. Between men and women, no significant differences were found in their attitudes towards the incorporation of CSR into business management practices. The result was likewise with regards to the entrepreneur’s age. However, the business sector in which a company operates and the entrepreneur’s educational attainment level do have an influence on selected CSR indicators, with the impact on financial performance most positively perceived by those companies operating in retail. Those companies operating in the services sector attached the least importance to the implementation of CSR for acquiring new customers and improving financial performance than other sectors. Of interest is also the finding that enterprises run by owners or managers with lower levels of educational attainment neither perceive the concept of CSR nor the implementation thereof as a significant element of future business management.UM

The contemporary area of Poland comprises six main regions: Baltic Coast and Pomerania, Masuria-Podlasie, Greater Poland, Masovia, Silesia, Lesser Poland, and three main river basins, the Vistula, the Oder, and the Baltic Coast.
Study focus
To fill the knowledge gap for historical floods in Poland we used documentary evidence as reliable sources to assess historical floods in Poland during the 16th century.
New hydrological insights for the region
This research is one of the most novel and comprehensive studies of historical floods in Europe, spanning floods in Poland registered in the 16th century. Specifically, in addition to the list of flood occurrence records, we also provide detailed information about the historical sources used (including estimations of credibility), extracted weather notes, and indexation of flood intensity and origins. The results showed that, based on documentary evidence, 294 floods occurred in Poland in the study period. Most were recorded in the Silesia region (170 floods). The intensity of floods estimated based on the Brázdil et al. (2006b) and Barriendos and Coeur (2004) classifications indicated that most belong to “above-average or supra-regional flood” and “extraordinary” categories, respectively. Classifications of the origin of floods based on Lambor (1954) revealed that the main reason for flood occurrences in Poland during the 16th century was rain and its subtypes (torrential, frontal, and long-lasting, accounting for 53% of floods).National Science Centre, Poland, project (no: 2020/37/B/ST10/00710)

Mixing Labor, Taking Possession, and Libertarianism: Response to Walter Block
Get PDFIn his recent rejoinder to my paper Walter Block argues that only the Lockean labor-mixing theory of first acquisition is compatible with libertarianism. Block’s claim is in turn directed against a position held by me in the said paper that it is the first possession theory of original appropriation that is a better fit for libertarianism. Upon reading Block’s rejoinder and thinking intensely about this issue, in the present paper I agree with Block and disagree with my former self, accepting the view that it is indeed the Lockean labor-mixing theory that should be embraced by libertarians. This verdict is mainly motivated by the following arguments that I develop in detail in the paper: (1) no libertarian arguments against the labor-mixing theory seem to work, (2) the first possession theory is unable (contrary to the labor-mixing theory) to accommodate the idea of original appropriation tracking objective links between actors and
things; (3) the labor-mixing theory better fits our intuitions about justice in property acquisition. However, in order not to make things too easy for Block, I also argue that there are some surprising and problematic consequences of adopting the labor-mixing account. Garnys: an underwater riverine site with delayed Neolithisation in the southeastern Baltic
Get PDFThis paper presents the first results of both dryland and underwater investigations at the multi-period Garnys riverine site situated on the Žeimena River in eastern Lithuania. There, during 2017-2020 a professional diver and amateur archaeologist collected hundreds of Mesolithic-Neolithic archaeological finds made of wood, bone, antler, stone, and ceramic from the riverbed and on its bank. Moreover, in eroded places of the riverbed, the wooden remains of several fish weirs were observed. In 2021 professional archaeologists continued the research, including field investigations followed by various laboratory analyses. These included AMS 14C dating of 16 various ecofacts, artefacts and
46 wooden constructions, wood and animal taxa determinations, and the results of traceological analysis of the flint and osseous artefacts. Our research demonstrates that the site was intensively used for hunting, gathering and fishing during the Mesolithic and subsequent Subneolithic and Neolithic. Intriguingly, there was no evidence for agriculture, while the numerous Neolithic ceramics largely follow the Subneolithic traditions. The Garnys site is therefore unique and a clear example for delayed. Neolithisation in a forested and lacustrine area in the eastern Baltic region. pandemic. Physical activity as well as sport are an important aspect in the life of young adult. They have a
huge impact on the development and interest of young adult in their free time. The COVID-19 pandemic
turned the world upside down, closing sports and recreational facilities as well as school facilities. The main
purpose of the work was to analyze this environment through a questionnaire. The main problem was to
show the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on physical activity in adolescents. On the other hand, the
hypothesis is that the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected adolescents practicing physical activity. The
obtained results confirmed the hypothesis that the pandemic negatively influenced physical activity and sport
among young adult.Problematyką artykułu jest aktywność fizyczna i sport wśród młodzieży w czasie pandemii
COVID-19. Aktywność fizyczna, a także sport są ważnym aspektem w życiu młodzieży. Mają ogromny wpływ
na rozwój, a także zainteresowanie młodzieży w czasie wolnym. Pandemia COVID-19 odwróciła świat do góry
nogami, zamykając obiekty sportowe, rekreacyjne, a także placówki szkolne. Głównym celem badań była
analiza właśnie tego środowiska poprzez kwestionariusz ankiety. Głównym problemem było wskazanie, jaki
wpływ miała pandemia COVID-19 na aktywność fizyczną młodzieży. Hipotezą główną natomiast to, że
pandemia COVID-19 wpłynęła negatywnie na uprawianie aktywności fizycznej przez młodzież. Uzyskane
wyniki potwierdziły hipotezę, że pandemia wpłynęła negatywnie na aktywność fizyczna i sport wśród

No full textCelem niniejszego raportu jest przedstawienie wyników badań ewaluacyjnych nad Narodowym Programem Szczepień przeciwko COVID-19 oraz sformułowanie rekomendacji dla przyszłych tego rodzaju przedsięwzięć. Raport podzielony jest na cztery części. W pierwszej kreślimy ogólny obraz programu – podajemy podstawowe statystyki, opisujemy kolejne fazy prgamu, charakteryzujemy sposób zarządzania, porównujemy Polskę z innymi krajami ue. Wskazujemy również na ważny naszym zdaniem kontekst, w którym należy umieszczać ocenę programu. Na ten kontekst składają się poziom zaufania, popularność myślenia spiskowego, poziom zaszczepienia na grypę, działalność ruchów antyszczepionkowych. W części drugiej prezentujemy wyniki badań jakościowych opartych na wywiadach pogłębionych. Przedstawiamy w niej opinię osób zaangażowanych w programie na temat organizacji, kampanii promocyjnej, roli sceptycyzmu szczepionkowego. W części trzeciej przedstawiamy wyniki badań ilościowych. Dzięki przeprowadzeniu ogólnopolskiego sondażu uzyskaliśmy opinię na temat programu zarówno ze strony odbiorców (osoby zaszczepione), jak i osób, które z niego nie skorzystały (osoby niezaszczepione). Interesowała nas opinia na temat organizacji programu na poziomie ogólnym oraz szczegółowym (np. rejestracja, kwalifikacja medyczna, dostępność punktu szczepień), ocena kampanii promocyjnej, opinie o szczepieniach i potencjalnych zmianach w programie (np. wprowadzenie obostrzeń dla niezaszczepionych czy obowiązku szczepień). W części czwartej zajmujemy się sposobem prezentacji programu w mediach internetowych. Interesowała nas częstotliwość tworzenia komunikatów przez instytucje publiczne zajmujące się programem, wizerunek programu w portalach internetowych oraz w serwisie Twitter.
