Cultural Heritage Participation Patterns of Ukrainians in Poland and Poles in Norway
This report presents findings from an MSCA-funded project Cultural Heritage Participation Patterns among Immigrants and Their Influence on Integration. The Case of Ukrainians in Poland and Poles in Norway (HerInt). First, it identifies and describes the patterns of participation in cultural heritage by migrants from Poland to Norway and from Ukraine to Poland – two European countries with different integration policy models, based on the data collected in qualitative photo-elicitation interviews. Secondly, it analyses the cultural policy of Norway and Poland from the perspective of the cultural inclusion of migrants, trying to understand how it could have influenced the cultural heritage participation patterns. Finally, it evaluates the relationship between cultural heritage participation patterns and migrants’ emplacement in their respective new homelands, based on the correlation of cultural heritage participation patterns and the emplacement index of the participants to the study. Overall, the report aims to bridge the gap between migration and heritage studies by addressing the relevance of cultural heritage participation patterns to the issues of migrants’ emplacement. Its goal is to deliver knowledge on the topic and initiate an interdisciplinary and cross-sectorial dialogue between migration and heritage scholars and cultural heritage stakeholders. The report ends with practical policy recommendations on including migrants through cultural heritage. This project has received generous funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, grant agreement No 101059766

Jednocześnie zidentyfikowano ryzyko spadku zainteresowania odbiorców w przypadku nadmiernej promocji produktów i zbyt częstego publikowania treści reklamowych.
Ethical Issues in CRISPR for Human Space Missions
Human plans to explore and possibly colonize deep-space require both technical and medical preparation. Medical preparation involves, among other things, appropriate resistance and protection against hazardous factors in space. These factors include space radiation and altered gravity, which are the most challenging factors for human health. Because currently applied countermeasures to the hazardous effects of space radiation and microgravity may not be effective during long-term deep-space missions, there are good reasons to consider the idea of CRISPR for the purposes of those missions. This chapter discusses the rationale for gene editing for space, and shows that basic objections to CRISPR on Earth are not necessary applied to the case of space missions

Burns patients – early management and treatment from accident site to admission to Burn Unit in Poland
Burn injuries pose a significant clinical challenge throughout the world, often leading to high mortality rates. Immediate and appropriate intervention at the accident site is crucial in improving patient outcomes. Essential first steps include ensuring personal safety, securing basic life support, assessing the surface area and depth of burns, and initiating fluid resuscitation. This article provides an in-depth summary of burn injury management, covering all stages from prehospital care to emergency departments (ED) and specialised Burn Units. Accurate diagnosis using tools such as the rule of nine and Lund-Browder charts is essential to guide treatment. Furthermore, pharmacotherapy, oxygen therapy, and wound care management play a vital roles in improving prognosis and recovery. A well-coordinated emergency response at the accident site, followed by seamless care in emergency departments and burn units, can significantly reduce mortality rates and complications. Educating healthcare providers on these treatment strategies is essential to ensure timely and effective care, ultimately enhancing survival and long-term patient outcomes
Preliminary assessment of microcirculation in the ascending aorta in patients with normal and dilated ascending aorta using laser Doppler perfusion monitoring
Microcirculation within the ascending aortic wall, supplied by the vasa vasorum, is increasingly recognized as a potential factor in the pathogenesis of aortic aneurysms. However, in vivo assessment remains challenging. This pilot study aimed to evaluate ascending aortic microcirculation intraoperatively using Laser Doppler Perfusion Monitoring (LDPM). Material and methods: Twenty-four patients (18 males, 6 females) undergoing elective cardiac surgery were enrolled. LDPM was performed on the exposed ascending aorta prior to surgical manipulation. A probe was sutured to the aortic wall and perfusion was recorded in Perfusion Units (PU).
A brief probe compression test was conducted to evaluate perfusion response. Results: The mean LDPM value was 281.58 PU (males: 339.94 PU; females: 139.86 PU). In males, LDPM negatively correlated with age (r = –0.593, p = 0.0121), whereas a moderate but non-significant correlation was noted with BMI (r = –0.303, p = 0.2366). No significant associations were observed with hypertension, diabetes, smoking, or aortic dilation. A paradoxical increase in PU during probe compression occurred in 54% of patients. Conclusions: LDPM provides real-time intraoperative assessment of aortic microcirculation. Age-related decline in perfusion may contribute to aortic wall vulnerability. Further studies with larger cohorts are needed to validate these findings
Comparison of sustained low-efficiency dialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy in patients in the intensive care unit with acute kidney injury: A search for a safe and rapid therapeutic approach
INTRODUCTION: In recent years, sustained low-efficiency dialysis (SLED) has emerged as a viable alternative to continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) for critically ill patients experiencing acute kidney injury (AKI). The aim of the study is to compare SLED with CRRT in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This observational cohort was conducted in 52 patients with AKI, and all patients were assigned into two groups; sustained low-efficiency dialysis (SLED, n=26) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT, n=26). Outcomes such as mortality, mechanical ventilation requirement and SOFA score at 0 hour and 48 hour of replacement therapy, cumulative fluid removal in 7 days following replacement therapy in were analysed. RESULTS: The morality at 30 days is 38.4% (10/26) in the SLED group and 57.7%(15/26) in the CRRT group. There were 19.2% and 23.07% of the cases dependent on dialysis at 30 days in CRRT and SLED groups (p0.05). The mean SOFA score at 24 hours was 14.143 ± 1.214 and 13.955 ± 0.76 the in CRRT and SLED groups (p>0.05). After 48 hours of RRT initiation, SOFA drops to 10.813 ± 1.603 and 12.1 ± 0.948 in the CRRT and SLED groups (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Primary outcome mortality was 57.7% cases in the CRRT group, while 38.4% in the SLED group (p=0.16). Secondary outcomes such as dialysis dependence at 30 days and early clinical deterioration, showed no difference across groups. SLED is a viable alternative to CRRT for hemodynamically unstable patients with AKI
