Taxonomia molecular do complexo Bichromomyia flaviscutellata (Diptera: Psychodidae) e estrutura genética de Bichromomyia flaviscutellata sensu stricto, principal vetor da Leishmania amazonensis (Kinetoplastea: Trypanosomastidae)
Phlebotomines are small insects belonging to the order Diptera, family Psychodidae, subfamily
Phlebotominae that are subdivided into several genera. Some species of this group are considered
transmitters (vectors) of pathogens that cause Leishmaniasis in some vertebrate animals, including man. Bichromomyia flaviscutellata is a complex composed of at least three species: B. flaviscutellata s.s., B. reducta and B. olmeca. The latter is composed of three subspecies: B. olmeca olmeca, B. olmeca bicolor and B. olmeca nociva, which are distributed from Central America to South America. Of these species, B. flaviscutellata s.s. is the main vector of Leishmania amazonesis in Brazil. The present study aimed to molecularly identify the species and subspecies of the B. flaviscutellata complex using the 5' region of the COI gene (known as DNA Barcode) and to verify the genetic structure of B. flaviscutellata s.s. using the 3' region of the gene COI to the variable region. The
sequences of the Barcode DNA of the specimens (n = 49) were from six localities, five in the State of
Amazonas (Autazes, Manaus, Pitinga, Novo Airão and Rio Preto da Eva) and one (1) in the State of
Pará while the sequences of the Variable Region (n = 86) were from the State of Amazonas (Autazes,
Manaus, Pitinga, Novo Airão and Rio Preto da Eva). In the Barcode database were added sequences
of B. olmeca olmeca and B. olmeca bicolor from Genbank. The consensus sequences of the Barcode DNA showed 649 base pairs (bp) that generated 29 haplotypes and five unconnected networks. Intraspecific genetic distances ranged from 0.000 to 0.037, while interspecific distances ranged from 0.11 to 0.13, with a barcoding gap of 0.087. Phylogenetic analyzes using the algorithms and evolutionary models Neighbor - Joining (NJ - K2P), Maximum Likelihood (ML - HKY + I + G) and
Bayesian Inference (BI - HKY + I + G) resulted in topologies with highly supported clades . All trees
presented the same topology, but with variations in support values. The relationship between B.
olmeca olmeca and B. olmeca bicolor was better clarified in NJ analysis; however, these data,
together with those of genetic distances, confirm the position of B. olmeca bicolor as a subspecies of B. olmeca olmeca. Curiously, the topologies of the trees showed the B. olmeca nociva most
phylogenetically closer of B. flaviscutellata s.s., as well as the haplotype network separated B. olmeca
nociva of B. olmeca olmeca and B. olmeca bicolor. The RV consensus sequences presented 1141 bp
and generated 59 haplotypes, showing great variability within B. flaviscutellata s.s. Intraspecific
genetic distance between the populations Rio Preto da Eva and Autazes presented the highest value
(0.0166). The intrapopulational analysis of the B. flaviscutellata s.s samples from the city of Rio Preto da Eva showed a higher level of genetic differentiation with a value of 0.0167 (1.67%). The Tajima D test was negative but non-significant for all populations, indicating no significant deviation from the neutral evolution model. However, the Fu Fs test was negative and significant for four of the five populations (Autazes, Manaus, Novo Airão and Pitinga), indicating a recent population expansion. The greatest genetic differentiation, using the Fst coefficient and the lowest gene flow, using the Nm
coefficient, was between Pitinga and Rio Preto da Eva (Fst = 0.3535; Nm = 0.91). The genetic
structure estimated by AMOVA was high and significant, proving that this species is genetically
structured. However, the Mantel test was negative and non-significant, which means that this
structuring is not related to the Isolation-by-Distance (IBD) model. The presence of shared haplotypes between the populations of Manaus (situated on the left side of the Rio Negro) and Novo Airão (situated on the right side of the Negro River) and the populations of Manaus / Pitinga (situated on the left side of the Solimões River) and Autazes located on the right side of the Solimões River) indicate that the Amazonas / Negro and Solimões River systems are not acting as geographical barriers that impede the gene flow between the populations of B. flaviscutellata s.s. The results of phylogenetic analyzes, together with the haplotype network, genetic distances and morphological characters, suggest that the B. olmeca nociva subspecies should be elevated to the species category.
alguns animais vertebrados, incluindo o homem.
Neighbor-Joining (NJ - K2P), Máxima Verossimilhança (MV – HKY+I+G) e Inferência Bayesiana (IB – HKY+I+G), resultaram em topologias com clados altamente suportados.
The present work had the purpose of analyze the challenges during the licensing process of community and family forest management inside conservation units of sustainable use, according to the current legislation (state and federal) in the states of Amapá, Amazonas, Pará and Acre, located in the Brazilian Amazon. There is a process of accentuation of the dynamics of deforestation within the conservation units in the Amazon. Several factors contribute to this progress, among them the current political context, which has been promoting the relaxation of socio-environmental legislation and the regression in the environmental policy achieved during the last 31 years of federal constitution. In this context, one of the most threatened areas in the Amazon today is the community forests, which represent half of the Brazilian public forests, most of them located in the Amazon region.
With the progress of this dynamic, there is an increasing need for an alliance around the defense of these territories, its effectiveness is the possibility that this defense is driven by the use of these territories, and the use by the communities that inhabit it. The development of a forest economy is essential for the maintenance of these social forests. However, the current regulation that regulates community and family forest management is not adequate because it simply did not incorporate the communities in it, becoming, therefore, an obstacle to management because it is far from the reality of the community. As a contribution, recommendations are proposed for future studies to improve understanding and efficiency in the implantation of CFM in the states of the Brazilian Amazon.O presente trabalho teve a finalidade de analisar os desafios durante o processo de licenciamento do manejo florestal comunitário nas unidades de conservação de uso sustentável, segundo a legislação vigente (estadual e federal) nos estados do Amapá, Amazonas, Pará e Acre, localizados na Amazônia brasileira.
Length-weight relationship and condition factor of eight fish species from the upper Araguari River, State of Amapá, Brazil
The present study estimated parameters of the length-weight relationship (LWR) and allometric condition factor for eight fish species from the upper Araguari River, in the State of Amapá, Brazil. A total of 615 fish of eight species were analyzed: Acestrorhynchus falcatus, A. falcirostris, Ageneiosus inermis, Hemiodus unimaculatus, Hoplias aimara, Myloplus asterias, M. ternetzi and Tometes trilobatus. The allometric condition factor varied from 0.742 to 1.435. The coefficient of allometry ranged from 2.723 to 3.225. The coefficient of determination (R2) of the LWR ranged from 0.742 to 0.985. This is the first estimate of the length-weight relationship for fish from the Araguari River and the first record of these parameters for Myloplus ternetzi and Tometes trilobatus. © 2019, Eduem - Editora da Universidade Estadual de Maringa. Hitchhiking meloid larva upon male Eulaema mocsaryi (Hymenoptera: Apidae): a new host cleptoparasite interaction in the Amazon rainforest
The Amazon rainforest is one of the planet’s biodiversity hotspots, hosting a rich orchid bee fauna. The phoretic cleptoparasites of this bee fauna are largely unknown. We report for the first time the host–cleptoparasite interaction between Eulaema mocsaryi (Friese) (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossini) and the first instar larva (triungulin) of a Tetraonycini meloid beetle. We review the host–cleptoparasite interactions of Tetraonycini with Apid bees in South America and discuss the ecological needs of the cleptoparasite. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group
Sistemática das vespas parasitoides do gênero Callihormius ashmead (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Doryctinae) e gêneros filogeneticamente relacionados
Doryctinae is a highly species diverse group within Braconidae and at the same time presents a great intraspecific morphological variation. This variation has made it difficult to establish the definitions of genera and species within the subfamily. An example is Callihormius Ashmead, a little-known genus with ten valid species previously to this work, and which currently has its limits overlapping with other two genera, Aphelopsia Marsh and Platydoryctes Barbalho & Penteado-Dias that had two and three valid species, respectively. In order to improve the definition of these genera, the present work reviewed the taxonomy of these groups with the support of a molecular phylogenetic analysis that for the first time focused on these genera. After a first taxonomic review of Callihormius, carried out in an already published work, in order to better understand the definition used in the literature, it was possible to redescribe some species and describe new ones that would be used in the phylogenetic analysis. A Bayesian analysis using five molecular markers, two mitochondrial and three nuclear, was performed to try to recover the monophyly of the above genera. This analysis demonstrated the fragility of the Callihormius definition used in the literature recovering the genus as a polyphyletic group. Therefore, new sets of characters to be used not only for the definition of this genus, but also for Platydoryctes were proposed. Then, based on the results of the phylogeny, a review of the genus Aphelopsia and a taxonomic update on Callihormius was carried out, presenting a new diagnosis, three new species for the genus, and five new genera derived from species previously classified as Callihormius. A taxonomic study of Platydoryctes was also performed, with a new definition for it and the description of four new species. Thus, at the end of the taxonomic changes that became necessary, Callihormius happened to have nine valid species and Aphelopsia and Platydoryctes happened to have three and eight valid species, respectively.

Brazil's new president and 'ruralists' threaten Amazonia's environment, traditional peoples and the global climate
Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil's new president) and "ruralists" (large landholders and their representatives) have initiated a series of measures that threaten Amazonia's environment and traditional peoples, as well as global climate. These include weakening the country's environmental agencies and forest code, granting amnesty to deforestation, approving harmful agrochemicals, reducing protected areas, and denying the existence of anthropogenic climate change. Both the measures themselves and the expectation of impunity they encourage have spurred increased deforestation, which contributes to climate change and to land conflicts with traditional peoples. Countries and companies that import Brazilian beef, soy and minerals are stimulating these impacts. © 2019 Foundation for Environmental Conservation
