Quantifying Irregular Morphology Electrograms in Atrial Fibrillation Using Fractional Fourier Domains
A fractional Fourier transform-based strategy is proposed for the analysis of morphological irregularities of 933 simulated electrograms recorded from a 3D simulated human atria under atrial fibrillation. Optimum fractional domains are considered to quantify the non-stationary features in the signals after preprocessing and segmentation. Optimum order maps obtained with the proposed strategy are compared with approximate entropy maps generated in previous studies. The results indicate that distinct types of electrical activity can be associated with different fractional domains and that the FrFT can be sensitive to different underlying propagation patterns where the approximate entropy exhibits uniform behavior. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG

Human dignity and Social and Democratic State of Law: The Colombian case [La dignidad humana y el Estado Social y Democrático de Derecho: El caso colombiano]
The purpose was to analyze the concept of human dignity from the Colombian case and how this is one of the foundations of modern democracy. Emphasis is placed on two essential guarantees of dignity: the principle of equality and the prohibition of non-discrimination. The methodology used is descriptive-analytical doctrine and jurisprudence with emphasis on the Colombian context. It is concluded that there cannot be a Democratic State that does not sustain itself in Human Dignity. © 2018 Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos.
School journalism with Information and Communication Technologies was implemented to improve critical thinking in secondary school students; the critical thinking was measured using a pretest-posttest and control group quasi-experimental design. ICTs were used, since writing and rewriting work and also consulting reliable sources, a basic element of critical thinking, is more viable when using technology. Digital databases and computer programs were used for the edition and layout of the newspaper, as well as social media for interactions. The experimental group made school newspapers collaboratively and the control group did not; when comparing their scores, it was found that those who produced newspapers using ICTs increased their critical thinking score by six times compared with the control group. These differences are statistically significant, so there is empirical evidence to affirm that the use of ICT favors the development of critical thinking since they generate collaborative environments that motivate writing. © 2020, Associacao Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao. Mapping SETMAT practices to SPEM
ESSENCE, the Software Engineering Method and Theory (SEMAT) extensible Kernel, allows description of software development initiatives. One of the extensions is SETMAT, the Software Engineering Teaching Method and Theory, which provides a set of new sub-Alphas and activity spaces aiming at the description of software engineering teaching initiatives such as software-related university courses. Different alternatives for describing the elements of SETMAT would eventually provide more freedom for adopters by widening the representations options. In this paper we propose mapping SETMAT elements to SPEM (the Software Process Engineering Meta-model) to provide another representation alternative for SETMAT practices. We also provide an example by making use of EPF Composer and SPEM to map a previously created SETMAT practice for a Software Analysis and Design course. We also argue that by making use of a platform like EPF Composer both software engineering professors and practitioners will be able to instrument and enact the practices as concrete processes. © 2020 IEEE
Virtual Platform for the Institución Universitaria Digital de Antioquia-Colombia [Una plataforma virtual para la Institución Universitaria Digital de Antioquia-Colombia]
As a result of the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies -ICT- and the growing in educational programs in the virtual modality, learning environments have evolved to digital, encountered challenges and limitations at all training levels. The Institución Universitaria Digital de Antioquia -IUDigital- creates a new milestone in higher education becoming the first public higher education institution with recognition as a virtual institution in Colombia. This article presents a Virtual Platform for IUDigital, which focuses on the processes of creation and production of open digital educational resources -ODER. These processes allow the design of the components (i) Contents Editor, (ii) Resources bank, and (iii) Mobile App. As a result, the products and artefacts generated with the implementation of the platform, with its most representative components, features and functionalities are presented. © 2020 AISTI
Gutiérrez Girardot: The turn to Marxisms [Rafael gutiérrez girardot: El GiRo hacia los maRxismos]
The article focuses on eight essays about Marxisms, some of which are yet unpublished, written by Rafael Gutiérrez Girardot between 1970 and 1990. The contents of these materials are related to his critical reception of the philosophical thesis advocated by some Marxist intellectuals of the second postwar period and allow to trace the way in which Gutiérrez Girardot integrated the ideas of historical-dialectical materialism into his work as a Literary critic. © 2019 Universidad de Antioquia. Catheter ablation for Atrial fibrillation: Electrogram-guided methods [Ablación cardiaca auricular: estrategias guiadas por el mapeo de electrogramas]
Radiofrequency catheter ablation has evolved into an effective treatment option for drug-resistant patients with atrial fibrillation. Electrical isolation of the pulmonary veins has become the standard ablation strategy mainly in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. However, the success rate of pulmonary veins isolation is about 50% in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation. Although different strategies to guide the electrophysiologist in ablation procedures have been proposed. Recent studies show that the generation of additional ablation lines guided anatomically or by fragmented complex electrograms mapping does not improve the success rate of the conventional pulmonary veins isolation procedure. In this review, we describe the limitations of current electrophysiological mapping methods, the new electrogram evaluation strategies and the signal processing methods that are proposed in the immediate future, to guide ablation procedures, particularly in patients with atrial fibrillation persistent. © 2018 Sociedad Mexicana de Ingenieria Biomedica. Data fusion and information quality for biometric identification from multimodal signals [Modelo jdl y calidad de la información para identificación biométrica a partir de señales multimodales: Estudio exploratorio]
Biometric identification is carried out by processing physiological traits and signals. Biometrics systems are an open field of research and development, since they are permanently susceptible to attacks demanding permanent development to maintain their confidence. The main objective of this study is to analyze the effects of the quality of information on biometric identification and consider it in access control systems. This paper proposes a data fusion model for the development of biometrics systems considering the assessment of information quality. This proposal is based on the JDL (Joint Directors of Laboratories) data fusion model, which includes raw data processing, pattern detection, situation assessment and risk or impact. The results demonstrated the functionality of the proposed model and its potential compared to other traditional identification models. © 2020, Associacao Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao. Sentence for abstract payment for damages through the action of protection: Sub-rules in their non-application according to the Constitutional Court jurisprudence [Orden de condena de perjuicios en abstracto en la acción de tutela: Subreglas en su inaplicación en la jurisprudencia de la Corte Constitucional]
The wide scope of the action of protection decisions in Colombia has allowed in innumerable cases, and not only in the text of sentence, the realization of rights in the lives of people, by granting diverse benefits, whether individuals or those who have administrative function. Amongst this typology of orders, we have Sentences for abstract payment for damages, which, although it is enshrined in the statutory decree that regulates this subject, has been little used by the judges and the Constitutional Court. In this respect and in the case of a typology with economic consequences for the defendant, and taking into account the Colombian context where there is a systematic threat and violation of fundamental rights, this research seeks to establish the sub-rules discovered from the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court and that motivates the reduced application of this order in the action of protection. The foregoing, because in the case of the protection of fundamental rights, the Sentence for abstract payment for damages extends its scope of protection, to the point of becoming the most powerful order of the judge of constitutional guardianship. © 2019 Universidad Externado de Colombia.
