Oral expression skills determine the daily relations of the subject mediated by language in its interaction with others and with the context itself in which it operates, which inscribes towards oral discourse in the category of social practice. From there, the interest of this research arises whose central purpose was to enhance the discursive competition of a group of twenty-six second grade students of elementary school through a didactic strategy based on multimodal texts. The investigation had mixt approach integrated for two moments, first the quantitative moment that revolved around a quasi-experimental design, a sequential nature and pretest - posttest measurements, the data were examined from two components of statistics, the descriptive and the inferential one and the instrument used was an observation list. Second the qualitative moment was established for an Action-Participation research design and a case study, the information was interpreted through semiodiscursive analysis and the instrument utilized were an observation and description matrix for each type of multimodal text, an analytical design matrix and the pedagogical diary from based on the teacher's experiential account. As a general result of the analysis, it was determined that the multimodal perspective led to favorable transformations in the discursive competence of the participants, thanks to the articulation of various forms of expression, written, visual and iconographic, through which verbal exchanges were generated among the students, which activated discursive processes through its staging in the context of the classroom leading to multiple communication situations.

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
The main objective of this article was to identify those factors that influence the risk of desertion of university students. We worked with a sample of 476 students with academic, institutional and socioeconomic information, among others. It was applied a logistic regression to identify the variables of greater impact in the risk of desertion, and this way, it was proposed actions to help mitigate this phenomenon. It is among the most important results that the youngest students of the daytime are those who tend to abandon their studies during the first four semesters. The model correctly predicts 84% of the cases; additionally, the effect of the entrance age, the number of semesters studied, the accumulated average, the total of approved credits, the financing of studies and the obtaining of educational aids with the institution is higher if it is compared with other factors analyzed in this study.Magíster en MercadeoMaestrí

Platinum vs transition metal carbide surfaces as catalysts for olefin and alkyne conversion: Binding and hydrogenation of ethylidyne

    No full text
The development of heterogeneous catalysts with activity for the hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbons is of economic importance. Ethylene (C2H4) and acetylene (C2H2) are probe molecules useful to understand the hydrogenation mechanisms, where the most studied surfaces are Pt(111) and Pd(111), however, they have a limited activity due to the formation and accumulation of ethylidyne (CCH3) species. Therefore, alternative catalysts should be developed to limit and/or avoid the formation of ethylidyne on the surface. Transition metal carbides has been reported as alternative catalysts, with the additional advantage of lower prices. The thermodynamics of ethylidyne binding and its transformations on ?-MoC(001), TiC(001), and ?-Mo2C(100) surfaces are studied by means of periodic DFT. The results indicate that ethylidyne could be transformed to ethyl and ethane on ?-MoC(001) and TiC(001) surfaces, which are relevant species to the Horiuti-Polanyi mechanism. Therefore, these surfaces could be an alternative to Pt(111) and Pd(111), since ethylidyne could be transformed to other species, avoiding or limiting their deactivation. Conversely, ethylidyne cannot be transformed to vinyl (CHCH2) or ethylene in a Horiuti-Polanyi-like mechanism; then, it is not thermodynamically feasible to use any of the studied surfaces in the selective hydrogenation of acetylene, since ethylidyne accumulation could poison the surfaces. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

    Innovation management models-A literature review

    No full text
"This paper deepens the innovation process model and innovation management model. It states that the latter contains management variables not analyzed in depth, in the literature on innovation models. It also presents six proposals on models of innovation management in companies and sectors. The methodology was based on an in-depth review of 73 documents obtained via Scopus which contained the search terms ""innovation management"" and ""model"". These documents were analyzed using Vantage Point software. The majority of authors are in agreement about innovation models and their emphasis on the ""process of innovation"". However, a similar consensus was not to be found regarding ""innovation management models"". This represents a barrier to theoretical analysis. Yet it is also an opportunity to propose best practices, identify patterns, and establish theories that may become the basis of future models. © 2019 Primrose Hall Publishing Group.

Carbonation study in a cement matrix with carbon nanotubes

    No full text
Carbon nanotubes as additions in Portland cement based matrices have a great potential to improve the mechanical properties of mortars and concretes; however, little work has been done regarding the effect that they have on the chemical durability of the cement matrix and reinforcing steel. In this work, carbon nanotubes are dispersed in water solution with Triton X 100 surfactant and blended in Portland cement mortars. A sharp decrease in compression resistance was observed at all curing ages (7, 14, 21 and 28 days) while a depth increase in the carbonation profile was found, which is associated with a decrease in the matrix durability. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

Solution of A P and S wave propagation model using high performance computation

    No full text
The propagation of seismic waves is affected by the type of transmission media. Therefore, it is necessary to solve a differential equation system in partial derivatives allowing for identification of waves propagating into an elastic media. This paper summarizes a research using a partial differential equation system representing the wave equation using the finite differences method to obtain the elastic media response, using an staggered grid. To prevent reflections in the computational regions, absorbent boundaries were used with the PML method. The implementation of the numerical scheme was made on two computational architectures (CPU and GPU) that share the same type of memory distribution. Finally, different code versions were created to take advantage of the architecture in the GPU memory, performing a detailed analysis of variables such as usage of bandwidth of the GPU internal memory, added to a version that is not limited by the internal memory in the graphic processing unit, but rather by the memory of the whole computational system. © 2019 Ecopetrol S.A.. Research opportunities for supplier selection: An analysis from literature reviews

    No full text
This article aims to identify different literature reviews of supplier selection to analyze the topics addressed in these documents, and suggest research opportunities for future literature reviews in issues that have not been addressed in the literature or require a deeper approach. This study states that the majority of existing literature reviews focus on the analysis of supplier selection methods and criteria, and uncertainty management, environmental management, and sustainability have been addressed in recent years. As a conclusion, it is suggested to focus future literature reviews on topics such as risk management, statistical methods, methods applied to industry sectors, implementation of supplier selection to small and medium enterprises, comparative analysis of solution methods performance, and the adaptation of solution methods from areas different to supplier selection. Likewise, it is recommended to continue updating literature reviews related to green and sustainable supplier selection, and uncertainty management in supplier selection, especially for the last 3-5 years. Two Novel Approaches Based on the Thompson Theory and Shape Analysis for Determination of Equilibrium Structures of Nanoclusters: Cu8, Ag8 and Ag18 as study cases

    No full text
Two new efficient methods for finding stable atomic clusters are introduced in this work. A purely algebraic and geometrical approach based on shape analysis provides a consistent set for optimization of structures which converge to local and global low-energy configurations. A second proposal based on the Thompson theory gives also candidate structures which became in equilibrium faster than the standard stochastic search models. The performance of the approaches is compared in three metal atomic clusters involving magic numbers. Both methods find the global and local low-energy structures reported in literature, but also obtain new structures. For Cu8, Ag8 and Ag18 the shape analysis method provides more structures than the approach based on Thompson theory. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd
