Virtual learning platforms: Analysis from its adaptation to learning styles [Plataformas virtuales de aprendizaje: Análisis desde su adaptación a estilos de aprendizaje]
The promotion of virtual education is a strategic decision within the development plans of the government of Antioquia, which aim to offer its population more access to higher education with quality, taking advantage of the current advantages offered by virtual teaching platforms. The department of Antioquia, Colciencias, KUEPA and the University of Medellín have joined to this purpose, contributing through financing, research and application of knowledge to the project that seeks to improve the teaching-learning processes by means of the inclusion of learning styles in the virtual platform developed by the Colombian company KUEPA. Firstly, this article includes the theoretical description of the teaching process and the factors that influence it. Secondly, the description and comparison of the models that define the learning styles used in similar virtual platforms, and finally, a methodology is described to identify the main sections that provide valuable information about user interactions and their preferences in the learning process. Based on the indicators, the user profile can be defined. © Universidad del Zulia. All rights reserved
Analytical formulation of the stiffness method for 2d reticular structures using green functions
Green functions (F.G.) are defined as the response of a medium to a unit point load and are widely used to solve boundary value problems. Unfortunately, in structural analysis, its use is limited and they are only used indirectly and with another name in the calculation of influence lines and in the formulation of the virtual work method. This article presents the Green functions stiffness method, which is a novel methodology to obtain the analytical or exact response of two dimensional frames, which mixes the stiffnes method and the Green functions, the latter used for the calculation of displacement fields. In particular, the formulation will be carried out for bar elements (subjected to axial force), beam elements (subjected to shear force and bending moment), beam over flexible foundation elements (subjected to shear force and bending moment) and two dimensional frames (subjected to axial force, cutting force and bending moment). This formulation has as its main property that it can be used to compute the analytic reponse for any external load distribution and minimizes the number of elements to be used in discretizations. In addition, the equivalence of this formulation with that obtained by an “exact” implementation of the finite element method is presented. © 2020, Scipedia S.L. All rights reserved
The constitutional (de) control in Colombia [El (des) control de constitucionalidad en Colombia]
The control of constitutionality, understood as the set of mechanisms and procedures aimed at making the Constitution effective, is a problematic issue in Colombia, but at the same time exciting. Influenced by other constitutional models, contributing their own elements, we have built a complex constitutional control system. Establishing who are called to make the Constitution effective and determine if having so many guarantors in the Colombian constitutional control, constitutes an advantage or a disadvantage, are the purposes of the present investigation. The methodology used is the analytical descriptive. Which allowed to demonstrate that allowing many authorities to watch over the Constitution can generate insecurity, complexity and conflicts of competence. © 2018, ComSIS Consortium. Complexity of an alternative to address “cursed problems”: The case of CSEC in Colombia [La complejidad una alternativa para abordar “problemas malditos”: El caso de la ESCNNA en Colombia]
The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (CSEC) is currently a problem that seems to overwhelm the capacities of the public administration, since it resists being studied through techno-rational solutions due to its great complexity. This article presents the results of a research carried out in Colombia with the objective of analyzing the relevance of complexity as a perspective for the study of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (CSEC). For this, the bio-ecological theory of human development of Bronfenbrenner and System Dynamics was used. In the investigation the information was obtained from various primary and secondary sources, among them: official organisms (Colombian State), Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), as well as studies on the problems at national and international level. The research is relevant because it allowed to show that from the dynamics of systems it is possible to represent the problem of CSEC from a perspective of complexity, which in turn facilitates the understanding of the dynamics that take place between the causative variables of this type of sexual exploitation in Colombia. © 2018, Universidad del Zulia. Remembering attitudes in the fiction movies of carlos saura over the late francoism and Spanish transition: From the active memory of blindfolded eyes (1978) to the passive memory of sweet hours (1982) [Actitudes ante el recuerdo en el cine de ficción de carlos saura durante el tardofranquismo y la transición española: De la memoria activa de los ojos vendados (1978) a la memoria pasiva de dulces horas (1982)]
This paper discusses the flashback, mental image and metalepsis in two essential feature films belonging to the memorial season that the filmmaker Carlos Saura undertakes over Late Francoism and, above all, Spanish Transition: Blindfolded Eyes (1978) and Sweet Hours (1982). Although a highlighted metafictional dimension is underlay, the mnemonic discourse that grows out of both of these movies drives us to identify, respectively, two opposed constructs: active or rehabilitation memory, in the first one; passive or narcotizing memory, in the second one. The singularity of these two selected films allows us to analyze this pair of recalling attitudes, which are the same ones for categorizing the remaining six films of the aforementioned season. © 2020 Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Laboratory Evaluation of Finely Milled Brick Debris as a Soil Stabilizer
Brick is one of the most common building materials, and it is also one of the largest components of waste generated from both construction and demolition. Reuse of this waste would reduce the environmental and social impacts of construction. One potential bulk use of such waste is as a cementing agent for soil stabilization. However, this is currently limited by the need to mill the residue to a particle size below 0.035 mm. In this study, the behavior of two soil types stabilized using alkali-activated brick dust was investigated. The unconfined compression strength at different curing temperatures and moistures and the use of different types and concentrations of alkaline activators were investigated. It was found that the addition of brick dust resulted in an increase in the soil strength between 1.7-2.3 times with respect to the non-stabilized material, suggesting that the resulting materials will find practical applications in construction. © 2019 by the authors
Systematic Literature study on estimation and prioritization of quality requirements in software development [Estudio sistemático de literatura sobre estimación y priorización de requisitos de calidad en desarrollo de software]
Quality requirements (also known as non-functional requirements) are those that address the quality of the software. They involve diverse aspects such as availability, security, performance, scalability, portability and usability, among others. Continuous technological advances such as cloud computing or the Internet of Things present new challenges in guaranteeing a satisfactory level of quality in these aspects. Moreover, agile development methodologies, whose use is increasing, such as SCRUM, XP, Kanban, do not provide the necessary support for the management of these quality requirements. To support software engineers when making decisions about the level of quality needed in a project, it is essential to know in advance (1) what criteria will be considered to verify, prioritize, plan, and/or negotiate quality requirements. Likewise, it is necessary to specify (2) how these criteria will be evaluated and (3) what factors in the project context may affect that evaluation. To try to answer these 3 research questions, the authors of this article have designed and are carrying out a systematic literature review. This article presents for discussion the description of the methodology followed in that literature review, as well as some of the preliminary results obtained during its execution. © 2020 AISTI
Gamification for improving software project management processes: A systematic literature review
This systematic literature review aims to (a) understand the current state of gamification as a strategy for improving processes associated with software project management and (b) define future gamification in the context of software project management. For these purposes, we identified and analyzed studies based on research interests, including software project management areas explored with gamification, gamification elements used in this context, research methods, and industry type. Our findings indicate a predominance of studies in project management areas related to integration, resources, and scoping. The most commonly reported research method is the solution proposal, and the most commonly used gamification element is the point system. Future research must focus on addressing unexplored project management areas, which can be intervened with gamification as an improvement strategy to facilitate the implementation of good practices that impact the success of software development projects. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG
