Frequency response analysis of jet–vortex interaction for variable relative spacing
Get PDFThis work presents frequency response analysis of the Lamb–Oseen vortex with a single-point injection (SPI) acting in the axial direction. In particular, we address the vortex response-mode selection as the radial location, , af, of the SPI is varied. We interpret these results by complementary linear stability and resolvent analyses. Our results demonstrate a way to excite certain modal behavior of the optimal response using SPI. Energy gain maps of the frequency response as a function of the streamwise wavenumber and the location and frequency of the SPI show that the modes with azimuthal wavenumbers |m| = 0 and |m| = 1 have the highest gain and correspond to different known families of Kelvin vortex waves. The value of af strongly influences the occurrence and importance of the dominant vortex response modes. In particular, for relatively low af values, the axisymmetric mode dominates. However, as af is increased, the dominant modes shift to helical modes. Additionally, we identify non-normal effects in specific areas of the parameter space, highlighting two particular regions: (i) an area explained only by the viscous critical layer characterized by a concentrated ring and (ii) a region given by the resolvent analysis for short-wavelength perturbations that exhibits a combination of the ring and a distinctive helical mode near the vortex core. Finally, we prove that flow patterns obtained at the maximum gain points of the frequency response exhibit a similar behavior to the optimal response, thus confirming the SPI as a powerful candidate to promote the optimal response in practical applications.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málag

PMCC), la Propuesta de Código Civil de la Asociación de Profesores de Derecho Civil (en lo sucesivo, PCCAPDC), los Principios de Derecho Contractual Europeo (PECL) y el Marco Común de Referencia (DCFR). Radiation oncology active learning in undergraduate medical education: the usefulness of Kahoot and TikTok
Get PDFGamification and social networking can be used as active learning tools, as they have been shown to increase learner motivation. Nevertheless, it is unclear whether they impact students’ knowledge acquisition. This study aimed to share an educational experience for medical students using Kahoot and TikTok as active teaching/learning tools and assessed whether they improve academic performance. A retrospective quasi-experimental study was conducted with 176 students enrolled in radiation oncology in the 2021/22 academic year (control group), who received traditional teaching, and 166 students in the 2022/23 academic year (experimental group), where Kahoot and TikTok were added to traditional teaching. Final exam results of both groups were compared to assess learning differences, as well as those of the experimental group in terms of participation in Kahoot and TikTok and their relationship with the final grade. Comparing the average exam scores of the experimental group to the control group showed an increase of 12.9% in the first group compared to the traditional group (6.02 vs. 7.31 points, p = 0.0001). In the experimental group, students who participated in Kahoot or TikTok increased their mean score by 0.54 points (p = 0.021) and 1.57 points (p = 0.040), respectively, compared to those who did not. A correlated increase in mean test scores was observed based on tool usage: none, Kahoot or TikTok, or both (6.19, 6.88 ± 1.48, and 7.51 ± 1.20 points, p = 0.019). Using Kahoot and TikTok as active learning tools for medical students improved academic performance when integrated with traditional methodology.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBU

En el capítulo consagrado a cada una de ellas el autor detalla, conceptual y terminológicamente, los aspectos nucleares más definitorios y expone razonadamente las propuestas de traducción que mejor podrían ajustarse al ordenamiento jurídico español. Las conclusiones postulan que el derecho comparado constituye una herramienta de trabajo muy útil para abordar con solvencia la traducción de los textos jurídicos procedentes de las cinco disciplinas jurídicas objeto de estudio

The role of psychological flexibility and inflexibility in substance addiction, abuse, or misuse: a systematic review and meta‑analysis
Get PDFPsychological inflexibility (PI) and psychological flexibility (PF) are transdiagnostic mechanisms involved in the development, maintenance and treatment of SUDs. Evidence on the relationship between their components and substance abuse has not been investigated using a meta-analytic approach. The aim of this meta-analysis was to quantify the association between the dimensions of PF and PI, and substance abuse. A systematic literature review was conducted in four databases. A total of 24 studies were included. The associations were quantified using Pearson’s r correlation coefficients, and two separate meta-analyses were conducted: one for the association between mindfulness and substance abuse, and one for the association between experiential avoidance and substance abuse. The meta-analyses showed a low and negative mindfulness-substance abuse relationship (r = -0.25), and a moderate and positive experiential avoidance-substance abuse relationship (r = 0.34). One study reported a correlation of r = -0.17 between defusion and substance abuse. The search for studies on the remaining components was unsuccessful. Substance type and target population moderated the relationship between mindfulness and substance abuse. Clinical and empirical implications of these results are discussed, and recommendations and future research directions are outlined.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBU
Female senior one-person households in Malaga municipality (Spain). Temporal evolution and intraurban spatial distribution.
Get PDFThe number of senior women (age 75 and over) living alone has multiplied notably in the municipality of Malaga. This population group can be considered as vulnerable, since living alone may have consequences on both physical and mental health. In this research, it is accounted, firstly, on the numerical evolution of this type of household in the municipality of Malaga, based on the data from the municipal register of inhabitants. Secondly, their intraurban spatial distribution, using the Location Quotient (LQ) for this was investigated. Results indicate, on the one hand, that effectively this type of household has increased remarkably, in proportion more than the total of senior women has. On the other hand, their spatial distribution in Malaga urban tissue is not homogeneous, and the neighborhoods with overrepresentation can be largely identified with the older ones. In this regard, the identification of clusters of neighborhoods where these households are overrepresented may be useful for planning within the context of ageing in place.This contribution is part of the results of the project "Households in the Municipality of Malaga. Estudio volumétrico de las canteras romanas de Rodadero de los Lobos – Cortijo Piquín (Sierra de Córdoba) mediante UAV LiDAR
Get PDFEste artículo se centra en el análisis de los diferentes frentes de extracción de las canteras del material lapídeo conocidascon el nombre de Rodadero de los Lobos, ubicadas en la propiedad actual llamada cortijo Piquín (Córdoba, España). La técnica utilizada ha sido el sistema Light Detection And Ranging(LiDAR)desde Vehículo Aéreo No Tripulado (UAV). La prospección mediante el sensor LiDAR ha permitido la captura de datos de la superficie del terreno, hasta este momento inéditos, debido a lo escarpado del mismo y la frondosidad de la vegetación, que dificultan la prospección superficial. Los resultados se han estudiado en entornos digitalesy se handetectadocinco zonas que presentan anomalías, y en las que es posible suponer la presencia de otros tantos frentes de cantera, así como la extensión de éstos en el terreno.El análisis de los datos nos ha permitido cuantificar de forma aproximada el volumen de materiales extraídos.La información obtenida ha facilitado conocer y precisar mejor la envergadura de la explotación de estos recursos naturales usados desde la antigüedad y demostrar que, efectivamente, estamos ante uno de los mayores recursos de abastecimiento pétreo de la Sierra de Córdoba. No obstante, y a pesar de la importancia que tuvo la explotación y el uso de las rocas ornamentales del sector de Ossa-Morena, hasta el momento había sido muy irrisoria la investigación sobre la explotación de canteras en época antigua en la Sierra de Córdoba, debido, fundamentalmente, a la inaccesibilidad orográfica. Por tanto, si se compara con Sevilla, Málaga y Huelva, provincias con amplios estudios por no existir este problema de accesibilidad, este trabajo cobra una gran importancia

No full textLa pregunta por la apertura de sentido y la generación de significados es uno de los núcleos temáticos fundamentales de la fenomenología desde sus inicios con Edmund Husserl. El problema conductor del pensar heideggeriano es efectivamente la pregunta por el sentido del ser en general. Sin embargo, esta se mantiene atada a la apertura significativa del ser humano, en cuanto el concepto de mundo, como Eugen Fink destaca, tiene un carácter exclusivamente existencial. En el marco de la ontología de lo viviente de Hans Jonas se produce no solo una ampliación del concepto de mundo, de modo tal que este adquiere un carácter cosmológico, sino también de la apertura de sentido, en tanto a cada forma de lo viviente le es inherente una significatividad determinada en correspondencia con el principio de la libertad orgánica. En el seminario realizaremos una confrontación entre la fenomenología heideggeriana del mundo y la ontología de lo viviente de Hans Jonas de cara al concepto del sentido cosmológico
