“The State of Farmer Producer Organizations in India: Performance, Trends, and the Role of Gender” answers critical questions about the ecosystem of farmer producer organizations (FPOs) in India, including national, state, and district-level FPO promotion and survival rates; FPO governance; and financial performance based on a range of metrics, including gender leadership, size, crops produced, activities engaged in, and state and district location. With a special focus on women-led FPOs, “The State of FPOs in India” provides a quantitative exploration of how gender leadership affects outcomes. The report also includes six detailed case studies of women’s self-help groups that launched FPOs, offering a qualitative exploration of how such groups transition to FPOs.Supported by the Walmart Foundatio

Integration of forage crops for managing herbicide-resistant weed seedbanks in Northeastern cropping systems

    No full text
Weed control is becoming increasingly challenging for field crop producers across the Northeastern United States, including New York (N.Y.). Several factors are driving this trend, including the introduction of new and invasive weed species, the growing prevalence of herbicide resistance, increasing cost of herbicide premixes, and unpredictable weather that often limits timely field operations. Together, these challenges are making traditional weed management programs less reliable and ineffective. This issue of The Manager is published by Progressive Dairy and printing is sponsored by Papillon

Hotel Sustainability Benchmarking Index 2025: Carbon, Energy, Water, and Waste

    No full text
CHSB2025 continues the annual benchmarking initiative carried out through a partnership between the Cornell University Center for Hospitality Research, participating hotels, Greenview, and an industry advisory group. CHSB2025 reinforces its role as the industry's most robust and transparent benchmark for energy, water, and carbon performance in the hospitality sector. This report documents the methodology used to compile and standardize environmental performance data from hotel properties worldwide for the 2023 calendar year. The 2023 dataset saw a 16.0-percent increase in the number of hotels participating. There was a 34.1-percent increase in valid output, with 27,219 hotels contributing to the final global dataset. To enhance data completeness, CHSB2025 marks the first attempt to analyze and disclose a new waste index, which introduces benchmarks for seven waste metrics. However, with a relatively limited data pool of 9,800 waste submissions, only about 4,500 records passed validation and were usable for benchmarking purposes
