¿Una nueva ciudadanía para la era digital?
No full textEmbargado hasta 01/01/2100La ciudadanía, como instrumento político-jurídico para la titularidad y ejercicio de los derechos fundamentales, afronta serios desafíos en la era digital y de expansión global de las nuevas tecnologías. Estos retos se pueden calificar como sistémicos, ya que la cuestionan de forma estructural; nuevas herramientas como el Big data, la inteligencia artificial, los algoritmos o los perfiles transcienden lo puramente técnico y cambian las reglas del juego del sistema de derechos.
La construcción tradicional de la dimensión subjetiva de la ciudadanía se ve superada, ya que la persona se desdobla en un “yo analógico” y un “yo digital”. En este campo los avances en la genética o la robótica igualmente demandan soluciones jurídicas que adapten la titularidad de la ciudadanía a la realidad tecnológica.
Desde la perspectiva objetiva, derechos fundamentales consolidados como la intimidad, los de participación o las libertades de expresión e información deben reconfigurarse en el contexto sociopolítico digital. Por otra parte, nuevos derechos emergen para dar respuesta a las necesidades específicas vinculadas a los avances científico-técnicos, como la protección de datos de carácter personal o el acceso universal a internet.
Por último, la igualdad material y su proyección social han constituido una aspiración inconclusa de la ciudadanía desde sus orígenes. En la actual etapa tecnológica, el desafío adopta nuevas formas como la brecha digital, que exigen abordajes diferentes.
Todas estas cuestiones son objeto de nuestra atención en la presente obra, desde una perspectiva social, política y jurídica

Self-Cancelling Narratives: Explicit Unreliability and Authorial (Ir)Responsibility in Toni Morrison’s Fiction
No full textEmbargado hasta 01/01/2100.With striking recurrence, Toni Morrison’s novels contain moments in which a confession of unreliability on the part of the narrative voice brings the illusion of a bounded diegetic world to a halt, generating an ontological and ethical instability rarely resolved at the end of the text. This essay explores this recurrent textual phenomenon, tentatively labeled “self-canceling narrative”, using the novels Jazz (1992), Love (2003), and Home (2012) as case studies. I analyze the textual construction of these “self-cancelling” moments as a peculiar kind of explicit narrative unreliability, which is revealed through open confession rather than through the dissonance between narrator and implied author. The hypothesis that such “self-cancelling narratives” are symptoms of authorial (ir)responsibility is proposed, arguing that they place the reader in an ethical impasse regarding their response to the text, which the author refuses to solve. My understanding of the ethical dimension of this textual phenomenon is influenced both by James Phelan’s work on narrative progression and ethical judgments, and by Jacques Derrida’s concern about the “right to absolute nonresponse” on the part of the literary author. In combining narratological with deconstructionist approaches to the textual phenomenon under analysis, I intend to bridge a frequent gap in scholarly work on Morrison, between its identification and description as a narrative technique characteristic of her style, and the ethical, ultimately ideological function it may serve for the author’s literary project as part of the African American tradition

No full textEmbargado hasta 01/01/2100Drawing on Jean-Luc Nancy’s (2008) insights about the body as the place of existence, Karen Barad’s (2007) agential realism, Jane Bennett’s (2010) conceptualization of vibrant matter, and the lessons of material feminisms propounded by Alaimo and Hekman (2008), this chapter investigates Canadian author Madeline Bassnett’s collection Under the Gamma Camera (2019), a probing meditation on illness and the vulnerability intrinsic to human existence, which is depicted as singular, finite, and exposed. Bassnett’s poems are firmly rooted in her first-hand experience of cancer, as well as in the deep sense of vulnerability she felt in the face of indifferent corrupt cells and destructive processes operating within herself. As a result, her collection is pervaded with a sense of emotional urgency and authenticity, alongside a plethora of details that gesture toward homo sapiens’s sensory participation—or rather sensuous immersion—in a more-than-human world. Ultimately, this chapter argues, Bassnett finds out that the body is the medium through which we experience the world, and that states of distress and pain are powerful catalysts for an enhanced awareness of (non)human frailty and our earthly existence qua sentient bodies—that is, of the vulnerability shared by the human body and the natural world

No full textEmbargado hasta 01/01/2100En este capítulo de libro se describen los hallazgos radiográficos más frecuentemente detectados durante la realización de exámenes previos a la compra de caballos de Pura Raza Española. Para ello contamos con 148 ejemplares con una edad media de la población de 4,72 años y destinados fundamentalmente al placer/paseo como actividad ecuestre principal.
Las lesiones radiografías más con mayor incidencia fueron de enfermedades ortopédicas relacionadas con el crecimiento como la osteocondrosis en ejemplares jóvenes, mientras que, en los de edades más avanzadas predominó la detección de anomalías con un marcado proceso degenerativo como es la osteoartritis de las filas distales de los corvejones, entre otras lesiones.
Se trata del primer estudio realizado con una muestra tan amplia de caballos de Pura Raza Española
The Hebrew Bible, Jewish Tradition and the Rede nition of Catholicism in the Sixteenth Century
No full textEmbargado hasta 01/01/2100The aim of this work is to show the role of Hebrew language, as the language of some parts of the Bible, in the shaping of the Catholic identity in Spain during the 16th century. This is a period of change in the Spanish society, after the Jews being expelled in 1492 and trying the assimilation –dissolution– of the converts. The Hebrew language and its exegetical texts are placed in the middle of the confrontation between two schools of thought: on the one side, there were thinkers aiming at protecting Christendom from the Jew influence; on the other side, some theologians, most of them of convert origins, praise Hebrew language and its traditions as the best way to understand the Old Testament and, therefore, as an important part of Christian identity. Thus, this work hopes to contribute to the analysis of the ideological aspects involved in the controversy after the Council of Trent
