Green fractionation and hydrolysis of fish meal to improve their techno-functional properties
A green strategy employing water as solvent has been adopted to obtain protein hydrolysates from fish meal (FM), its water-soluble fraction (WSP), and its non-water-soluble fraction (NSP). The techno-functional properties of the hydrolysates have been investigated and compared to hydrolysates obtained with Alcalase®. In general, SWH hydrolysates presented higher content of free amino acids and higher degree of hydrolysis, which reflected on the molecular size distribution. However, Alcalase® hydrolysates presented better solubility (from 74 ± 4% for NSP at pH = 2 up to 99 ± 1% for WSP at pH = 4–7). According to fluorescence experiments, FM and NSP hydrolysates showed the highest surface hydrophobicity, which has been related to better emulsifying properties and higher emulsion stability. The emulsions stabilized with 2%wt. of SWH-treated NSP showed the smallest particle sizes, with D[4,3] = 155 nm at day 0, and good stability, with D[4,3] = 220 nm at day 7, proving that water fractionation followed by SWH treatment is a good method to improve the techno-functional properties of the hydrolysates.The authors acknowledge Sarval Bio-Industries Noroeste, S.A.U. Financial accounting and the natural environment: the case of climate change
Companies’ financial statements reflect climate change when environmental costs are internalized. However, financial accounting does not capture externalities (i.e., the unintended environmental costs that companies produce with their activity). This chapter explores the financial implications of climate change to understand the extent to which accounting numbers provide the appropriate information about required substantive ecological transitions. We draw on full cost accounting (FCA) to illustrate the bi-directional impacts of climate change. Outside-in impacts hold strong financial implications, which are materialized in financial statements by using accounting systems, such as carbon pricing mechanisms or sustainability reporting standards. In contrast, inside-out impacts have weak financial implications. Examples include voluntary initiatives and environmental standards, which are accounted in the corporate strategy although not captured in the financial statements. We conclude that FCA is an accounting tool that can provide a broader perception of the impacts that companies produce on the environment
Intervention with Women Victims of Gender-Based Violence: A Comparative Study on the Perception of Personal Well-Being in Burgos (Spain)
Choosing between the variety of existing intervention approaches in favor of victims of gender violence inhibits focusing on research concerning support for women to get out of violent situations, rebuild their lives, or minimize the consequences of violence. The aim of this paper is to collect information that allows the intervention to be adapted to the specific needs that women perceive they have, so that it has a positive impact on their lives and establishes through a response comparison whether the intervention has been really successful in terms of well-being parameters. The homeostatic theory of subjective well-being and the personal well-being index were used to evaluate the level of satisfaction that the participating women had with their lives at the beginning and end of the intervention, which results in an index of well-being in each person measured through the answer to questions that start from the generality. The main result of the intervention was the acquisition of skills by the women that allowed the valuation of what they have and the importance of not clinging to or idealizing certain things that can have a negative impact on other areas of well-being
Mechanical properties of sustainable concrete containing powdery ladle furnace slag from different sources
A suitable content of powdery Ladle Furnace Slag (LFS) has to be selected to balance its hydraulic and expansive
properties when added to concrete. In this study, the performance of concrete containing two powdery LFS is
studied: H-type LFS, stabilized before use, and N-type LFS, used in its original state. Lower expansiveness was
observed in the H-type LFS, and strength development was assisted by the formation of calcium-silicate-hydrates.
Therefore, it increased the modulus of elasticity, the splitting tensile strength, and the flexural strength of
concrete. Higher hydraulicity and expansiveness were found in the N-type LFS, which improved compressivebehavior-related properties up to a content of 10% but reduced tensile-related properties. These aspects were
confirmed through scanning electron microscopy. In general, the H-type LFS improved the mechanical properties

Comienza con una introducción a la impresión 3D FDM, explicando sus principios fundamentales y aplicaciones. Se detallan instrucciones paso a paso para la preparación de diseños 3D, incluyendo la selección del software adecuado y consejos de diseño específicos para FDM. Además, se proporciona una amplia información sobre los materiales de impresión, enfocándose en los distintos tipos de filamentos y sus usos. El manual cubre la configuración y calibración de la impresora, preparativos para la impresión, y el proceso de impresión mismo, junto con estrategias para monitorear y resolver problemas comunes. Finalmente, se abordan técnicas de post-procesamiento para mejorar el acabado de las piezas impresas, así como consejos para el mantenimiento regular y la seguridad durante el uso de la impresora 3D FDM
Academic entrepreneurship assessment model in Iranian sport science faculties
Sports science faculties need to incorporate various activities that have not previously existed in their traditional functions to become innovative and entrepreneurial. For this reason, an effective model should be designed and developed to evaluate the facilitation of entrepreneurial research, the independence of faculties, the development of their relationships, and the application of sports science. Therefore, due to the importance of this issue, the purpose of this research was to design a model for evaluating academic entrepreneurship in sport science faculties of Iran. Using snowball sampling and based on the theoretical adequacy of the research, 13 participants were interviewed. The grounded theory was used to analyze the categories and indicators affecting the academic entrepreneurship assessment process. Charmaz's Grounded Theory approach was used to analyze data. The findings include four categories of requirements, enablers, activities, and consequences, for which 19 sub-categories were identified. The results can be used to evaluate, rank, and compare the entrepreneurial activities of academic actors, managers, and majors in sports science, as well as allocated grants and credits to units associated with academic entrepreneurship and commercialization
