Wind turbine pitch reinforcement learning control improved by PID regulator and learning observer
Wind turbine (WT) pitch control is a challenging issue due to the non-linearities of the wind device and its
complex dynamics, the coupling of the variables and the uncertainty of the environment. Reinforcement learn-
ing (RL) based control arises as a promising technique to address these problems. However, its applicability
is still limited due to the slowness of the learning process. To help alleviate this drawback, in this work we
present a hybrid RL-based control that combines a RL-based controller with a proportional–integral–derivative
(PID) regulator, and a learning observer. The PID is beneficial during the first training episodes as the RL based
control does not have any experience to learn from. The learning observer oversees the learning process by
adjusting the exploration rate and the exploration window in order to reduce the oscillations during the training
and improve convergence. Simulation experiments on a small real WT show how the learning significantly
improves with this control architecture, speeding up the learning convergence up to 37%, and increasing the
efficiency of the intelligent control strategy. The best hybrid controller reduces the error of the output power
by around 41% regarding a PID regulator. Moreover, the proposed intelligent hybrid control configuration has
proved more efficient than a fuzzy controller and a neuro-control strategy. This work was partially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Sci- ence, Innovation and Universities under MCI/AEI/FEDER Project num- ber RTI2018-094902-B-C21
An Assessment on the Efficiency of Clothing with UV Protection among the Spanish Navy School Students
Concern about the harmful effects that ultraviolet (UV) rays have on the skin of people who are routinely exposed to solar radiation has driven the industry of skin protection creams, sunglasses and clothing. Spanish Navy personnel are subject to different levels of exposure depending on their rank and function. The objective of this research is to analyze the behavioral variables associated to the effects on the skin caused by UV rays, denoted by the combined effects of perceived susceptibility and perceived severity, on their decision to purchase and wear uniforms with UV protection. A confirmatory analysis using a structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed on a sample of 100 respondents. The model results revealed a strong mediating characteristic of the intention to use, variable associated with the exogenous variables. Attitude towards the use of clothing and social influence, as well as the exogenous variable clothing action planning, on the sun protective clothing use during tactical maneuvers. These relationships were significant with p-values close to zero. However, exogenous variables related to perceived susceptibility and perceived severity in exposure to sunlight did not represent a significant influence when mediated by self-efficacy in use. The results revealed the consequence of awareness about the importance of protecting oneself and the influence that usage habits can have on the military with respect to the decision to purchase uniforms with UV protection. The authors gratefully acknowledge the financial support provided by the Spanish Ministry of Science & Innovation under the I+D+i state program “Challenges Research Projects” (RTI2018-098900-B-I00) and the Regional Government of Castilla y León (INVESTUN/19/BU/004 and INVESTUN/22/BU/0001)
Phases in the decision to request euthanasia and brain structures involved
Introduction: Euthanasia laws do not mention as an obstacle brain diseases other than dementia that damage circuits

Management control systems in the competitive sucess and performance of SMEs
The adoption of a set of management control tools enables the correct management of these factors, however, the effect of those systems has not been sufficiently analyzed in the literature. The main objective of this paper is to determine the mediating effect of the diversity of use of the management control systems (MCS) in the relationship between the success factors –human capital training and internationalization–, and performance. Using a sample of Spanish firms from the food industry, the results show that internationalization has a direct positive impact on organizational performance, while human capital training is indirectly and positively related to performance through the use of a high diversity of MCS
Visual identities of the Nueva Movida in the urban context through Spanish photography. Changes and generation paradigms looking at Madrid
The cultural context of the Movidahas changed to put aside the common spaces built by the community to lead to an individualistic and adolescent landscape that disdains adult responsibilities. The Nueva Movida has developed a youthful and intimate photography in which the subject has also become the creator of his own gender and sexuality. However, both generations occur in the urban context of Madrid; an urban landscape that has changed its way of looking and being looked by itself, to develop a place that works, no longer for the community of the eighties, but for the unique and individualized being of the new century. The present study tries to focus on the treatment of Madrid in the photography practiced by a generation that has been named as the natural heir of the streets of the city

Las reglas de escritura del prototipo ficcional
Here we propose a new perspective regarding the difference between literary fiction and nonfiction: the very different nature of the writing rules they admit. Although with some limitations, non-fictional narratives admit more or less rigid writing rules because they are obligated to maintain a certain correspondence scheme with the real world. However, fictional literary narrations, freed from any strict or systematic correspondence with reality, do not admit these fixed rules. Given that in fiction it is not possible to have such a text-word correspondence scheme, we defend that the only rules (or rather, the only guidelines) fictional literary narrations admit are those which affect the very creation of the text—that is, those which affect the subjective attitude of the writer.
Experimental verification of a beam element for thin-walled beams with torsion, distortion, and shear lag
Beam-type elements based on the theories of Euler–Bernoulli, Timoshenko, and Vlasov are widely used in
civil engineering. However, shell and solid finite elements are often used when the effects on normal stresses
of either shear deformation or distortion are considered important. Numerically validated in an earlier study
with finite element models for shell-type structures, the same one-dimensional finite element model is further
developed in this study with a low number of degrees of freedom per node that includes all the structural
mechanisms without using 3D finite element models. Laboratory testing of an instrumented steel box girder
is conducted, to improve validation of the goodness of fit of the finite element model with real structural
behavior. This work was supported by the Junta de Castilla y León (Spain), provided through research project BU062G19
Research project. Restless legs syndrome: follow-up of an adult population cohort in Burgos
Considering that the specific objectives have been: to analyze the differences between cases and controls; know the mortality rate of the cohort and its relationship with restless legs syndrome; estimate the impact of restless legs syndrome on health and sleep- related quality of life. Methods: the study has followed an observational, retrospective and longitudinal methodology of a cohort of cases and controls, made up of 232 patients.
