Dance as a lifelong healthy activity: a literature scoping review
Los tiempos vividos por el COVID-19 han posicionado a las artes escénicas y dentro de estas a la danza en una situación de reconocimiento. Como práctica en sus diferentes estilos, ofrece la capacidad de adaptarse a las necesidades de la población y a diferentes situaciones sociales. La afirmación de ser una actividad con múltiples beneficios para la salud integral lleva a considerar la necesidad de revisar hoy la documentación existente. Los objetivos del estudio son averiguar las aportaciones de la literatura encontrada en los últimos años en relación con los beneficios de la práctica de danza en personas de cualquier edad ausentes de enfermedad, delimitar si esta actividad es apropiada para la salud integral en cualquier etapa natural de la vida y conocer los beneficios concretos de esta práctica. Se realiza una revisión de alcance de documentos publicados entre el 2012 y el 2022 incluídos, utilizando el software Atlas Ti 8 para el análisis cualitativo. Se constata un incremento de publicaciones que integran la danza como herramienta para desarrollar beneficios saludables, generando beneficios psicológicos y mentales en niños; físicos, mentales y sociales en adolescentes y jóvenes; físicos, psicológicos y emocionales en adultos y en la vejez físicos, emocionales y sociales. Se concluye que la práctica de danza mejora diferentes aspectos de la salud integral en todas las etapas de vida.The COVID-19 pandemic has brought attention to the performing arts, particularly dance, as a relevant practice in society. With its various styles, dance can adapt to the needs of the population and social conditions. The belief that it has multiple benefits for overall health prompts a review of existing scientific literature on dance. This study aims to investigate the contributions of recent literature on the benefits of dance practice in healthy individuals of all ages, determine its appropriateness for overall health at any stage of life, and identify its concrete benefits. A qualitative analysis was conducted on documents published between 2012 and 2022 using the Atlas Ti 8 software. The study found an increase in publications that recognize dance as a tool for promoting healthy benefits, including psychological and mental benefits in children, physical, mental, and social benefits in teenagers and young people, physical, psychological, and emotional benefits in adults, and physical, emotional, and social benefits in the elderly. The study concludes that dance practice improves overall health at all stages of life
Sustainable mobility learning: Technological acceptance model for gamified experience with ClassCraft in primary school
The concept of sustainable mobility is related to the fulfilment of certain conditions that consider environmental, economic and social factors when making decisions on transport activity. The recognition of the role of education as a key factor for sustainable development and sustainable mobility has been growing. Therefore, the development of training schemes aimed at sustainable mobility education as a tool for a better future for the generations to come is of fundamental importance. This study analyses the factors affecting the adoption of the ClassCraft platform in activities related to sustainable mobility. The proposed experience involved children aged 10–11 years old, a total of 75 pupils. This experience was the basis for analyzing the pupils' perception of the gamification-based methodology. A mixed method has been used, combining qualitative results from a Focus Group (FG) with 6 students, and quantitative results through a questionnaire based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with all the 75 students. The results reflect that all students consider this methodology as an opportunity for a change in the school experience to make classroom activities more enjoyable. Our research contributes to the application of a mixed methods approach that addresses an educational challenge, considering the voice of the children when applying new teaching–learning strategies.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer Nature. Follow-up study of children and adolescents during the stay-at-home directive decreed during the COVID-19 pandemic: how the way lockdown is interpreted affects mental health
The present study is, to the best of our knowledge, the first study to follow up on the mental health of children and adolescents in Spain during COVID-19, a country in which a strict stay-at-home directive was issued as a result of the pandemic. We also explore the influence of fear of contagion and the attribution for lockdown on young people’s mental health. A sample of 278 children (8 to 12 years) and adolescents (13 to 18 years) were assessed at two time points in relation to different areas linked to well-being, fear of contagion and interpretation of the stringent lockdown as (i) a Punishment, (ii) a means of Slowing the Spread of the Virus, or (iii) a way of Protecting Others. The first time point (T1) was from March 22–25, 2020 (eight to eleven days into lockdown), and the second (T2) was from April 11–14, 2020 (28 to 31 days into lockdown). The results indicate that, following the initial impact of the lockdown, the deterioration observed in the mental health of children and adolescents seemed to stabilize, despite the prolonged nature of the strict stay-at-home directive. A more negative interpretation of the lockdown and greater fear of contagion by the COVID-19 virus resulted in poorer mental health. The present study may help inform the decision-making process regarding stringent lockdown orders for children and adolescents in future pandemics and establish guidelines for providing better support both during and after health crises.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer Nature
Raman, UV–Vis Absorption, and Fluorescence Spectroelectrochemistry for Studying the Enhancement of the Raman Scattering Using Nanocrystals Activated by Metal Cations
Raman signal enhancement is fundamental to develop different analytical tools for chemical analysis, interface reaction studies, or new materials characterization, among others. Thus, phenomena such as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) have been used for decades to increase the sensitivity of Raman spectroscopy, leading to a huge development of this field. Recently, an alternative method to SERS for the amplification of Raman signals has been reported. This method, known as electrochemical surface oxidation-enhanced Raman scattering (EC-SOERS), has been experimentally described. However, to date, it has not yet been fully understood. In this work, new experimental data that clarify the origin of the Raman enhancement in SOERS are provided. The use of a complete and unique set of combined spectroelectrochemistry techniques, including time-resolved operando UV–vis absorption, fluorescence, and Raman spectroelectrochemistry, reveals that such enhancement is related to the generation of dielectric or semiconductor nanocrystals on the surface of the electrode and that the interaction between the target molecule and the dielectric substrate is mediated by metal cations. According to these results, the interaction metal electrode–nanocrystal–metal cation–molecule is proposed as being responsible for the Raman enhancement in Ag and Cu substrates. Liquid−Liquid Equilibria for Systems Containing 2-methoxyphenol or 2- ethoxyphenol and Selected Alkanes

Jaume I University, Castellón de la Plana (Spain), November 29th, 30th and December 1st, 2023For several years ago, we have been interested on the investigation of intramolecular effects between the phenyl ring (C6H5-group) and a polar group, X, more or less directly attached to aromatic ring, as these effects are very different to those between the same groups when they belong to different molecules. For example, the upper critical solution temperature (UCST) of the phenol + decane mixtures is 336,50 K [1], while the excess molar enthalpy, , of decan-1-ol + benzene system at equimolar composition and 298.15 K is 1050 J. mol-1, extrapolated value [2]. That is, intramolecular effects lead to enhanced interactions between like polar molecules, while intermolecular effects make usually more favourable in interactions between unlike molecules. For this purpose, we have studied, experimental and theoretically, intramolecular effects, also termed proximity effects, in mixtures containing aromatic amines [3-11] (anilines, 2-amino-1-methylbenzene, 1-phenylmethanamine, 2-ethoxy-benzenamine, 4-ethoxybenzenamine, 1H-pyrrole, quinoline or imizadoles); phenylmethanal, 1-phenylethanone, 4-phenyl-2-butanone, benzyl ethanoate [12-15], benzonitrile, phenylacetonitrile, 3-phenylpropionitrile [16], 2-phenoxyethanol or aromatic alkanols (phenol, phenylmethanol, 2-phenylethan-1-ol) [17-19]. As a continuation, we provide now liquid-liquid equilibria data for alkane systems involving 2methoxyphenol (guaiacol) or 2-ethoxyphenol. Alkoxyphenol molecules exhibit unique structural characteristics, wherein two distinct polar groups (-OH and -O-) are attached to the phenyl ring at different positions. It is anticipated that intramolecular interactions between these two groups play a significant role. In a previous study conducted by our research group, we investigated the phenoxyethanol + alkane systems [17]. However, this case presents a slight deviation, as the -O- and -OH groups are situated within the same linear chain that is connected to the phenyl ring. Phenol derivatives play a crucial role as intermediates in the synthesis of various specialty chemicals. Understanding the phase behaviour of these product mixtures is of utmost importance for the development of manufacturing processes. Alcoxyphenols exhibit diverse applications. For instance, 2-methoxyphenol serves as an expectorant and finds utility as an antioxidant and anti-skinning agent in the context of paints. It also serves as a precursor for flavourings such as eugenol and vanillin, and is employed as an intermediate in the chemical synthesis of active pharmaceuticals, flavouring agents, and perfumery products. Additionally, it acts as an indicator in chemical reactions that generate oxygen. In studies focused on phenolic compounds' ability to inhibit oral bacteria, 2-ethoxyphenol is employed. 2-ethoxyphenol is also investigated for its potential as a cyclooxygenase inhibitor for prostaglandins. Northwest African Neolithic initiated by migrants from Iberia and Levant
In northwestern Africa, lifestyle transitioned from foraging to food production around 7,400 years ago but what sparked that change remains unclear. Archaeological data support conflicting views: (1) that migrant European Neolithic farmers brought the new way of life to North Africa1,2,3 or (2) that local hunter-gatherers adopted technological innovations4,5. The latter view is also supported by archaeogenetic data6. Here we fill key chronological and archaeogenetic gaps for the Maghreb, from Epipalaeolithic to Middle Neolithic, by sequencing the genomes of nine individuals (to between 45.8- and 0.2-fold genome coverage). Notably, we trace 8,000 years of population continuity and isolation from the Upper Palaeolithic, via the Epipaleolithic, to some Maghrebi Neolithic farming groups. However, remains from the earliest Neolithic contexts showed mostly European Neolithic ancestry. We suggest that farming was introduced by European migrants and was then rapidly adopted by local groups. During the Middle Neolithic a new ancestry from the Levant appears in the Maghreb, coinciding with the arrival of pastoralism in the region, and all three ancestries blend together during the Late Neolithic. Lactic acid production from biomass-derived sugars using acid or base catalysts

Production of small peptides and low molecular weight amino acids by subcritical water from fish meal: Effect of pressurization agent
The hydrolysis of the water-soluble protein (WSP) fraction from tuna fish meal was evaluated by subcritical water (subW) by using N2 and CO2 as different pressurization agents in the temperature range from 140 to 180 °C. For both gases, the amino group release increased by increasing working temperature while the Lowry response decreased due to production of smaller-size peptides and free amino acids.
The free amino acid content was higher with CO2 than with N2. At 180 °C, 344 ± 5 and 275 ± 3 mg of free amino acids per g of WSP were released, respectively; although, in both systems the smallest molecular weight amino acids, glycine and alanine, were preferentially released. The free amino acids content obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis with commercial proteases Alcalase and Novozym was much lower with the highest hydrolysis yield determined for histidine.
