Accompaniment in the Gender and Social Discrimination of Migrant Women Victims of Gender-Based Violence: From Bibliography to Situated Key in Burgos, Spain

    No full text
Migrant women who experience gender-based violence face a framework of social vulnerability that is compounded by their status as both women and migrants, requiring specific attention in social support. The aim of this study is to understand the situation of women in the social and health access realm, drawing from scientific literature as well as the voices of migrant women and professionals who support them, in order to establish priority guidelines for social support. The study begins with a bibliographic analysis of scientific literature on migrant women who have experienced gender-based violence, which informs six interviews with migrant women and five professionals, delving into their social needs and support requirements. The most prominent results point to the need for sustained and interdisciplinary support throughout the process of accessing healthcare and legal services. In addition, there is a call for social awareness in understanding the specific and personal needs of migrant women. Finally, educational support is required to dismantle patriarchal beliefs that legitimize gender discrimination and violence, avoiding re-victimization and acknowledging the multi-dimensional nature of women’s experiences. This research was funded by: Erasmus+, KA220 HED Cooperation partnerships in higher education, grant number F5265FF4 (European Union, 2021-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000034146), and The APC was funded by the project 360 REWIN-REsilient immigrant Women interventions for inclusion

    No full text

Match analysis in wheelchair basketball: An observational analysis of the best team in the world (USA) in the 2020 Paralympic Games

    Get PDF
This work shows the possibilities that observational analysis can offer to match analysis in Wheelchair Basketball, outlined in a study of the sequences that end in a shot, in the men's team considered to be the best in the world (USA), in the Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020. Data recording and coding the 527 sequences that end in a shot was carried out via the LINCE software, and inter-rater reliability guaranteed using Cohen's Kappa coefficient. Two diachronic behaviour analysis techniques – lag sequential analysis and T-pattern detection – were applied complementarily, thus allowing us to characterise effective and ineffective sequences. Effective behaviours are highlighted as being those which incorporate a final reception and shot by players with less functional limitation; or those in which the shot is made from the paint. Ineffective behaviours are those carried out by players with greater functional difficulty; or those which end in shots made from the offensive zone and external offensive zone.

    Get PDF
Every reader has felt, during their time in high school, that the compulsory readings were excessively demotivating and did not resemble their favorite books. Currently, several studies have determined that teens favourite reading are young adult fantastic novels. In this Final Master's Project, it is proposed to include in the 3rd ESO reading itinerary a novel belonging to that same genre: "Six of Crows", by Leigh Bardugo, and to use it in the classroom in an interdisciplinary way to improve students' reading skills and comprehension of the world while fostering the love of reading. This FMP explains aspects such as what young adult fantastic literature is or why teachers reject its inclusion in the reading itineraries of secondary education. In addition, these pages detail the relationship that this literature has with the improvement of reading comprehension and its interdisciplinary didactic possibilities in the classroom. Finally, this project shows the materials created to deal with Six of Crows in an interdisciplinary way (a reading workbook) and offers a possible way of putting them into practice with students

Bread melanoidins as potential new sustainable bakery ingredients: a study using fat and fat-free bakery food models

    No full text
Melanoidins isolated from bakery by-products are proposed as new sustainable ingredients for bakery products. The colour, odour profile, texture, water activity, and antioxidant capacity of two bakery food models, fat and fat-free, enriched with 2% and 4% soft bread and common bread melanoidins, were analysed. The colour of the bakery food models with melanoidins was darker than that of the respective control; the fat-free models with melanoidins showed higher values of hardness than the control, while no significant effect was observed in the fat models; the water activity did not change compared to the control; the odour profile was significantly modified with different effects depending on the type of melanoidin quantity added and the food model (fat or fat-free); and the antioxidant capacity increased proportionally to the quantity of melanoidin added. In general, melanoidins from soft bread exhibited a higher effect than the melanoidins from common bread. The melanoidins isolated from both fat and fat-free bakery food models did not show cytotoxicity nor did they modify the levels of reactive oxygen species in Caco-2 cells. Therefore, the results seem to indicate the favourable potential of bread melanoidins as new sustainable ingredients for bakery products. The authors acknowledge financial support from the autonomous government of Castilla y León and FEDER (JCyL/ FEDER) BU243P18

Chemical and Laser Cleaning of Corrosion Encrustations on Historical Stained Glass: A Comparative Study

    Get PDF
The aim of this research work was to conduct a comparative study on the effectiveness of the application of chemical cleaning versus laser cleaning in the removal of surface congruent dissolution products from a potash-lime–silica historical stained-glass sample. EDTA was selected as the chemical cleaning agent. Laser cleaning was performed using a 238 fs pulse UV (343 nm) laser. The comparative cleaning studies were carried out on a stained-glass piece supplied by the Maison Lorin Glass Restoration Workshop from Chartres, France. Given the complex nature, irregular thickness and heterogeneity of the encrustations found on the glass, the two cleaning approaches were carefully performed step by step, while monitoring the process using an optical microscope. Raman spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the changes induced on the sample surface during the cleaning process. The results demonstrate that the two cleaning approaches were able to eliminate the outer surface dark layer associated with carbon compounds, as well as the external part of the white layer generated by the crystallization of salts, formed with the dissolved elements after a reaction with the air. A comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of each method is also presented. This research was funded by the H2020-MSCA-ITN-EJD/ED-ARCHMAT action under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 766311.
