Representative democracy is based on the belief that a population can elect leaders in elections that represent their interests in representative assemblies. For this to work it is therefore crucial that the people's interests actually are represented, since there is previous research from the fields of descriptive representation and substantive representation that has come to the conclusion that the working class and women can be underrepresented in certain instances both as elected groups but also in regards to group interests in legislation, this can therefore be argued as an important field of study. The municipal and regional level has most politicians in Sweden, makes political decisions that affect the everyday lives of citizens on a local level and especially the regional level is considered to receive insufficient public attention and far too few scientific studies focus on it. These are the reasons why we found this particular field of study important and also why we chose to study the municipal and regional level. The aim of the study was therefore to further understand whether class and gender has any effect on parties political nominations and candidates chances of being elected to Swedish municipal and regional councils. It relies on a quantitative method by using logistical analysis of candidates around the last mandate of parties in the 2022 election to the municipal and regional councils. We find that class and gender shows no effect in the model, but age does show a small positive effect
“The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil” : En kvalitativ analys av propaganda i Star Wars: Andor
The aim of this study is to explore the portrayal of propaganda in popular culture. As a big part of the cultural lexicon the Star Wars franchise has previously been studied in its portrayals of a variety of political and social issues. This study focuses on the television series Star Wars: Andor and analyses its portrayals of propaganda use, as well as what message about propaganda these portrayals contribute to. Through a narrative theory and method, it breaks down the storytelling in a particular plot to determine what the narrative is saying about the subject of propaganda. The study shows that the series contains a wide range of both explicit and implicit portrayals. It depicts how propaganda is specifically used in a campaign against a group of people, how it spreads through media, how it affects the opinion of the general public, and the conditions and perception of the exposed group. The narrative communicates an alarming message about how effective propaganda can be in achieving the goals set by the users. However, as the story goes on it also shows the ways in which propaganda as a strategy is fallible, and thus it contains signs of both pessimism and optimism for a society threatened by these mechanisms
“Det får bli som det blir” : En kvalitativ studie om äldres upplevelser av digital krisinformation
In recent years, Sweden has faced several societal crises that have increased the need for accessible crisis information. As crisis communication has become increasingly digital, concerns about inequality can be raised since digital skills, access to technology, and trust in digital sources vary between different groups in society. This study explores how adults aged 65 and older perceive digital crisis communication and how they navigate digital information during societal crises. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with six participants and analysed using thematic analysis. Media practice theory and diffusion of innovations theory provide the theoretical framework for understanding how older adults engage with and adopt digital crisis information. The findings show that although respondents display basic digital habits during their everyday life they are still hesitant to adopt digital channels as their primary source for crisis communication. Even though the respondents acknowledge many advantages of digital channels, they also display considerable familiarity and confidence in the use of traditional media
A Research Agenda for Emotional Geographies
This forward-looking book examines emotional geographies as both a subdiscipline and a practice. Written collaboratively, the authors demonstrate the diverse ways in which emotions influence research, knowledge and everyday life, inviting readers to recognise emotions as a fundamental component of human understanding, actions and relationships. Chapters highlight how the study of emotional geography provides crucial insights into pillars of daily life, such as power, work, care and social change. Drawing on feminist and embodied traditions, the book combines conceptual reflection, methodological innovation and lived experience to outline the impact of emotional geography on key challenges such as political unrest, the climate crisis, migration and technological change. Tracing the evolution of the field, the authors emphasise its future potential in research and practical applications, as well as its capacity to foster a more empathetic world. A Research Agenda for Emotional Geographies is an illuminating read for scholars and students of human geography, the social sciences and humanities, and particularly those interested in working with emotions across contexts. Feminist, decolonial, migration and climate change researchers will also benefit from the book’s interdisciplinary approach
This study examines how China and India use BRICS as a multilateral forum in the context of changes in the global power order. The purpose of the study is to analyze how cooperation and competition coexist within BRICS and how these dynamics can be understood through Power Transition Theory. By applying the theory in its developed form, which emphasizes institutional integration rather than direct confrontation, the study seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of how rising powers navigate periods of power transition. The study is based on a qualitative document analysis of official BRICS declarations, ministerial statements, and foreign policy documents from China and India. This empirical material is analyzed through a theoretical framework grounded in Power Transition Theory, with a particular focus on concepts such as power transition, institutional integration, and revisionism. The analysis shows that BRICS functions as an institutional arena where both cooperation and competition coexist. China emerges as a rising power with revisionist ambitions that are primarily expressed through institutional strategies aimed at reforming global governance structures. India, by contrast, adopts a more balancing approach, using BRICS to enhance its institutional influence while maintaining strategic autonomy and avoiding direct confrontation. Despite underlying bilateral tensions, BRICS enables continued cooperation through pragmatic and interest-based engagement. The findings suggest that BRICS should not be understood solely as an economic cooperation forum, but rather as an institutional mechanism through which rising powers manage power asymmetries and pursue gradual system change. The study demonstrates that Power Transition Theory, in its developed form, provides a useful analytical framework for understanding the role of multilateral institutions in a multipolar international orde

The Situation of Children with Disabilities from the De-Occupied Territories of Southern Ukraine : Coping Strategies and Perspectives of Families Affected
Children with disabilities in conflict settings face compounded risks of exclusion, trauma, and disrupted education. In the ongoing war in Ukraine, families from de-occupied territories confront displacement, loss of services, and the burden of invisible caregiving labour. This research examines the perspective of parents of children with disabilities on how to cope with the situation. Their specific needs are highlighted and serve as a basis for developing support measures. The research is theoretically grounded in group socialisation theory, trauma-informed psychology, and the concept of solastalgia. Methodologically, 35 semi-structured parent interviews were thematically analysed. Four themes emerged: loss of safety and the search for control, digital technologies as stabilising anchors, disrupted peer interaction, and the impact of parental trauma. Parents described extensive invisible labour to support children’s fragile attempts at friendship, emotional regulation, and belonging. They perceive inclusive schools as both protective and precarious. The study concluded that resilience depends on dual-focus interventions that combine inclusive peer environments for children with psychosocial support for caregivers.
Perception of the University’s entrepreneurial climate in Morocco: A longitudinal analysis of university- and individual-related factors
The University Entrepreneurial Climate (UEC) is a crucial determinant of students’ entrepreneurial
spirit yet remains underexplored. This study investigates how university-microsystem
factors (entrepreneurial university reputation, entrepreneurship training programmes, and
educational degree level) and individual characteristics (entrepreneurial family background,
previous entrepreneurial experience, gender, age, and marital status) influence students’ UEC
perceptions. Using non-parametric analysis on data from Moroccan students surveyed in two
distinct waves (n = 1984 in 2016; n = 1254 in 2021), we analyse the evolution of these perceptions.
Our findings reveal that entrepreneurial university reputation and entrepreneurship
training programmes significantly influenced UEC, with their effect becoming more pronounced
in 2021. Similarly, master’s studies and entrepreneurial family background were found to be
significant predictors of UEC perception, but only in the 2021 sample. Notably, female students
reported a higher UEC perception than their male counterparts in 2021. Likewise, the youngest
students were the most sensitive to perceiving UEC in 2021. Conversely, prior entrepreneurial
experience and marital status did not show a significant influence in either period. Our findings
have academic and practical implications, highlighting the importance of university leaders
cultivating an UEC through understanding the drivers behind such perceptions. The scarcity of
literature in this area highlights several promising avenues for future investigation
