    No full text

Local culture and history are essential elements in the construction of both personal and collective identity. Cultural heritage, whether tangible or intangible, connects us to our roots and helps us understand how our community has evolved over time. To ensure its transmission and appreciation, it is crucial for schools to act as spaces of discovery and active engagement with the local environment. This Final Degree Project presents a didactic proposal aimed at Primary Education students, with the goal of fostering knowledge and appreciation of the cultural heritage of their municipality. Through an active and participatory methodology, students become protagonists in a process of investigation and exploration that culminates in a field trip and the creation of a collaborative final product. The proposal seeks to spark curiosity, promote cooperative work, and encourage meaningful learning, while highlighting those elements of the urban and cultural landscape that often go unnoticed. In doing so, it promotes a respectful, appreciative, and responsible attitude toward heritage as a living and transformative part of our identity

This study explores European identity formation by examining the role of international study programmes (ISPs) and plurilingualism among Spanish undergraduate and postgraduate students. Using a custom-built survey administered to 871 respondents, the research analyzes how ISPs and students’ language profiles influence their sense of Europeanness, attachment to Europe, and perception of the European Union (EU). Findings show that students participating in or interested in ISPs have a more positive view of Europe and the EU, while non-mobile students tend to exhibit stronger local identities and view Europe more neutrally or negatively. Additionally, students with broader language repertoires are more likely to associate the EU with cultural diversity, while those primarily speaking Spanish often connect it to challenges like unemployment. Proficiency in multiple European languages emerges as a key factor in fostering a positive European orientation. This study underscores the importance of ISPs and plurilingualism in shaping European identity with valuable insights for internationalization strategies in higher education

    No full text
Introduction: The influence of the type of environment (leisure or study) on mi crobial abundance and diversity at the Escuela Superior de Tecnología y Cien cias Experimentales of the Universitat Jaume I has been studied. Since recrea tional areas involve greater interaction between people, it has been hypothesized that the number of colonies will be higher in these areas. Method: Samples were collected by swabbing study surfaces and placing them in a transport medium. Next, 1/10 serial dilutions were prepared, 50 μl were spread onto Petri dishes. Finally, the samples were incubated. Results: Colony-forming units per ml were counted yielding numbers within acceptable parameters. Data were then compi led into Excel tables, various statistical parameters were calculated, and a graph showing the number of colonies for each sample type was generated. The diffe rent types of microbial colonies were also identified based on their morphology. The results indicate a higher concentration of bacteria in leisure areas compared to study areas, while the morphological variability of the colonies is greater in the study areas. Discussion and conclusions: The higher number of colony-for ming units per ml in recreational areas could be due to the greater frequency and diversity of human interactions, the presence of food and drink residues, or less thorough disinfection compared to study areas. This does not necessarily imply a health risk, but it does highlight the importance of maintaining hygiene in these spaces and implementing measures to control and prevent infectious diseases

Improving the Assessment of Capstone Projects in the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering

    No full text
The Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering at University Jaume I has a capstone project in which the student develops, during a 300-hour internship in an enterprise, a real-world project. We collected data for five academic years to analyze the assessment process to propose a new hybrid model, which combines analytic and holistic assessment and takes into account all the factors that influence the evaluation. As a result, a comprehensive assessment model for capstone projects is proposed, incorporating five key dimensions derived from an in-depth analysis of the collected data: the students’ competency performance, the quality of the project proposal, the quality of advising, the panel involved in the assessment process, and the assessment criteria used for project evaluation

Stop hurting me and start loving me: adverse childhood experiences, attachment and intimate partner violence

Treball Final de Grau en Psicologia. Codi: PS1048. Curs: 2024/2025Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) have been frequently associated with numerous negative outcomes, one of them being the likelihood of becoming victim of intimate partner violence (IPV), especially in women. Not only do ACEs influence the likelihood of experiencing IPV but also shape attachment patterns. While most research focuses on the original ACE model (from Felitti et al., 1998), expanded frameworks like Mersky et al. (2017) include broader social adversities, such as “caregiver absence” or “death of a caregiver”. However, their role in IPV remains unclear, and findings on the potential interaction of adult attachment are still inconsistent. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to examine the relationship between ACEs and the likelihood of becoming a victim of IPV later in adulthood, as well as the potential influence of adult attachment in this relationship. A total of 308 young adult women from Spain (Mage = 21.83) completed the Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire (ACEs from the original and the expanded framework), the Internal Working Models of Attachment Relationships Questionnaire (CaMir-R) and Woman Abuse Screening Tool (WAST). Hierarchical regression analysis revealed a cumulative effect of total ACEs (from the original model) on IPV. Moreover, childhood sexual abuse presented a differential impact on IPV as well. In contrast, adult attachment showed no significant interaction in the relationship between IPV and ACEs. Study findings highlight the role of childhood sexual abuse and the overall impact of ACEs on IPV (regardless of adult attachment style). These results underscore the importance of implementing programmes focused on the early identification of ACEs, particularly childhood sexual abuse.

Continuous-Flow Synthesis of BiVO4 Nanoparticles: From Laboratory Scale to Practical Systems

    No full text
Cost-effective and efficient photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting stands out as one of the most promising strategies to address sustainable energy supply in the form of green H2. Large-area photoelectrodes featuring precise chemical and morphological control are key components for a practical solar-to-hydrogen conversion. Herein, we report the continuous flow synthesis of BiVO4 nanoparticles (NPs) by using a simple microreactor configuration. The solution containing the as-prepared NPs enables the deposition of BiVO4 photoanodes with areas up to 52 cm2 through a simple and scalable chemical bath deposition method. On the other hand, surface protection by an ultrathin Al2O3 overlayer grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) increases the performance of the 1 cm2 BiVO4 photoanodes ~30 %, exhibiting a photocurrent density of ~2.0 mA⋅cm−2 at 1.23 V vs. the Reversible Hydrogen Electrode in the presence of a sacrificial hole scavenger. The optimized continuous flow synthesis provides an affordable methodology for the fabrication of cost-effective, large-scale photoanodes, which could potentially be applied for different photoelectrochemical reactions. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support from the European Commission associated to the European project “SUN2CHEM”, through the Grant Agreement 884444. No full text
Detecting behavioral routines is an important research area with many implications in various practical applications. One such application involves studying the behavior of older adults residing in care homes. This paper proposes a comprehensive methodology for extracting and analyzing the daily routines of older adults in care homes. The methodology utilizes raw data comprising signal strength measurements obtained from smartwatches worn by six volunteers over five months. To establish the basis for estimating daily activities, fingerprint-based localization techniques are employed to track the minute-by-minute location of each volunteer. Subsequently, the activity performed by each volunteer is estimated for each day. Finally, the study estimates the probability of a user undertaking each one of the studied activities on a given weekday
