The research focuses on the framework of local development, considering the particularities of a territory immersed in great complexities and social contradictions that have generated violence for more than 60 years. A macro analysis of the conditions for sustainable glocal development and a micro analysis to identify new contributions to sustainable glocal governance was carried out, through a study with a qualitative and quantitative approach, which allowed to contrast the institutional and community visions on current governance, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the articulation with the implementation of the peace process, in Santander de Quilichao Cauca Colombia. One of the main conclusions is that it is necessary to strengthen citizen participation, civic and formal education, especially among youth, as future leaders and managers of sustainable glocal governance processes, in pursuit of the common good and social well-being.
This doctoral dissertation studies the reception of the category of transsexuality and the representations of trans women in the social discourse in Spanish and Catalan during the Transition period. This was a crucial time, as it marked the first mass presence of these identities in what we have termed the ‘sarampión travesti.’ From the perspective of cultural studies and gender studies –and more specifically, trans studies – it focuses on analysing a series of cultural objects -novels, films and newspapers-, both endogenous and exogenous, that between 1976 and 1983 addressed the trans experience in that period and explicitly engaged with the then “new” medical category. The thesis concludes that the reception of the medical category in Spain occurred under very particular conditions, generally removed from the medical institution where it had originated in other national contexts.Programa de Doctorat en Llengües Aplicades, Literatura i Traducci
The role of translation in the memoirs of Joan F. Mira
[EN] Joan F. Mira is a writer who has wound his way through a series of literary genres and subgenres - from novel to short fiction, political essay, anthropological investigation, biography to newspaper column. Translation has also formed an almost continuous part of his output. In this study, I intend to analyse the presence of the translations — some translations at least — produced by Mira in the course of his long career in the two volumes that make up his memoirs: El tramvia groc (2013) and Tots els camins (2020). This approach, effected from within the framework of intertextuality, may prove of interest from a number of perspectives. On the one hand, in the case of an intellectual who had no need to devote himself to translation pro pane lucrando, we might consider the value of the selection of work decided upon – stylistic affinity, amongst other reasons. On the other, there is the case of the impact that translation in general and the translated works in particular may have had on his own work. All in all, the subject can afford new means to interpret the work of this major author.
Transdisciplinarity in Education: A Narrative Review of Its Didactic Validity and Contributions to Sustainable Learning
This paper explores the current state of the concept of transdisciplinarity at both theoretical and literary levels, with a particular focus on its development in education through a narrative review. It examines the didactic validity of this concept and its potential to contribute to sustainable education by addressing the complex challenges of the 21st century. The review identifies how transdisciplinarity enables the integration of diverse forms of knowledge and connects abstract learning with meaningful, context-based experiences for students. This perspective fosters inclusion, critical thinking, and social responsibility—competencies that appear to form a promising and increasingly supported paradigm for sustainability. A narrative review of forty-one sources was conducted across Scopus, Scielo, Dialnet, and Google Scholar, focusing on educational applications of transdisciplinarity. Furthermore, the study situates transdisciplinary education as an effective and transformative framework aligned with international educational principles such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the European Key Competences, and the Sustainable Development Goals
Porn[Time]: study of cognitive processes related to problematic pornography use
Compendi d'articles, Doctorat internacionalCurrently, pornography consumption is one of the most prevalent online activities, increasing scientific interest in understanding its effects. In particular, the possibility of developing a pattern of abusive consumption, i.e., problematic pornography use (PPU), is one of the main concern. Therefore, in recent years, part of the literature has focused on the study of the mechanisms and factors involved in the onset and maintenance of PPU. However, evidence remains scarce, especially regarding the involvement of cognitive processes. This doctoral thesis aims to shed light on this issue by studying the involvement and etiological role of attentional inhibitory control, time perception processes, and subjective sexual arousal in PPU and other online problematic behaviors: gaming disorder and problematic binge-watching. Some of the main findings question the theoretical premises that place cognitive and executive processes as central etiopathological factors in problematic online behavior.

This doctoral thesis proposes a dialogue between Philosophy for Making Peace and Philosophy with Children as a way to promote educational practices oriented toward peace in schools. Initially, it addresses the foundations of Philosophy for Making Peace and the principles of Peace Education, highlighting their characteristics and peaceful means. Likewise, it explores the origins and generational evolution of the Philosophy for Children program, examining its practical foundations. The research also offers a critical reflection on our willingness to listen to children's voices on issues of peace, considering the predominant values in today's society. Finally, the FiloPaz project is presented as a concrete example of this convergence, illustrating how both philosophical approaches can engage in dialogue and enrich educational practice to build more peaceful school communities.

Colonoscopy is the standard diagnostic technique, but some lesions may be missed. Endocuff Vision® is a device designed to improve colonic mucosa visibility. This study evaluated its effectiveness and safety compared to standard colonoscopy within the Spanish national CRC screening program. A randomized, multicenter, prospective clinical trial was conducted with 822 patients aged 50–70 years with a positive fecal occult blood test. Patients were assigned to undergo either Endocuff Vision-assisted colonoscopy (EVAC) or standard colonoscopy (SC). The adenoma detection rate was significantly higher in the EVAC group (59.8% vs. 51%; p=0.02). There were no differences in incomplete colonoscopies or adverse events between groups. In conclusion, Endocuff Vision improves adenoma detection without increasing risks, contributing to a reduction in interval CRC cases.Programa de Doctorat en Ciències Biomèdiques i Salu
