Neonatal Intensive Care Internship
Ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to be a part of the Neonatal Intensive Care team and learn to provide the life-saving care they practice each day. My younger brother had bilateral pneumothoraces (holes in the walls of each lung allowing the escape of air). When I visited him in the NICU and saw all the wires and cords attached to his little body, I had the realization that he may never come home. The NICU team saved his life, and I\u27ve loved every minute with him since. I wanted to take this position in the NICU so that I could help provide the same miracle for other little brothers and sister and families as a whole
Effect of Prolonged Water Immersion on Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull Performance
The aquatic environment may contribute to enhanced muscle strength by promoting cerebral blood flow and cortical activation, potentially driven by hydrostatic pressure-induced cephalad fluid shifts and sensory stimulation during static water immersion
Determining the Kinetic Basis of CRISPR-Cas12a2 Function
CRISPR- Cas (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats- CRISPR associated) systems are bacterial adaptive immune systems that protect bacteria against mobile genetic elements such as viruses and plasmids1,2
Preparing a Bioreactor for Avian Cell Culture
This project, in collaboration with Upside Foods and Thermo Fisher, focuses on optimizing a 50L bioreactor for avian cell growth. Thermo Fisher has assembled the bioreactor while Upside Foods has provided design specifications and avian specific growth media
Can GenAI Evaluate Social Themes in Global Cinema? An Introductory Exploration Using French Ivory Coast Film to Evaluate Religious and Familial Social Themes
GenAI is rapidly evolving, making it crucial to investigate its uses and limitations. Popular films can shape social themes globally, yet many of these influences remain unexplored due to cultural barriers. This project\u27s research has important applications, including: Enhanced film analysis for less popular films in various countries and languages Cultural preservation and lowered linguistic boundaries in film Potential for future statistical analysis to determine correlation between social themes and popularity of films Broader implications for the film industry and film studies
My hypothesis was that GenAI would be able to accurately analyze important social themes in niche French films
Engaging Youth in Community Problem Solving Through Community Partnerships
This panel discussion will present a community-engaged project in which four community partners work with youth in the context of a USU ENG 1010 or USU ENG 2010 writing assignment. This assignement asks students to identify a problem in their community by which they are directly impacted. The student then works with the community partner to document the problem and to brainstorm possible solutions to the issue. The panel will invite audience members to share their experiences with similarly designed assignments and to offer input, critique, and suggestions. Audience members will also be invited to ask questions to the panel in order to encourage the audience to find ways they can foster similar projects in their community
Utah Surface Irrigation Water Optimization Opportunities and Barriers
Surface irrigation systems are still the predominant system used in some parts of Utah, representing nearly half of the irrigated area in the state and the region. Understanding the barriers to water optimization and opportunities for improvement in surface irrigation systems will help ensure their viability. This article presents the results of a survey of surface irrigators in Utah
How Invasive Species Affect Ecosystems
Invasive species can have profound impacts on ecosystems worldwide. In the absence of their natural enemies, invasive species thrive and reproduce quickly. They can have significant ecological and economic effects. This fact sheet outlines the impact of invasive species on biodiversity, nutrient cycles, water quality, and the resulting economic consequences. It also suggests practical tips for responding
