Axon Research App
The Axon Simulator is an app developed to help academics understand the membrane voltage and action potentials of axons via mesh and material parameter inputs. A user may run a simulation using the Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) model, the Single Cable (SC) model, or the Double Cable (DC) model, and plot the membrane voltage (as well as other ion gate functions) from the saved simulation. In addition, the app provides a description of each model and each variable input to help users understand how model parameters and equations shape axonal dynamics.

Designing for Everyone: The Impact of ADA in Interior Design
In interior design, everyone is considered in the design process to ensure each place is safe, functional, and comfortable. ADA (American Disability Act) is always used in public buildings and is considered for individuals and families in residential buildings. Interior designers ensure places can be usable. This also helps companies prevent lawsuits and become more friendly, allowing people to trust and feel welcome
Laparoscopic Articulating Arm: In Collaboration With the Xenocor Saberscope
• Laparoscopy a minimally invasive procedure performed through small incisions using a laparoscope, a camera-equipped instrument, along with specialized tools.
• Laparotomy or open surgery, requires a large incision to perform an abdominal operation
Cooling Potential of Ornamental Vines Under Different Irrigation Regimes for Urban Heat Mitigation
The Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect is a phenomenon where urban areas become significantly warmer than their surrounding rural areas (Debbage et al., 2015; Phelan et al., 2015; Yang et al., 2016
Synthesis of Pristine Graphene on Cu Substrates Within a 3D Parameter Space
We designed a low-pressure chemical vapor deposition system wherein the toluene combines with the carrier gas flow to contact with the substrate within the quartz tube. As toluene is a liquid at room temperature, we froze the toluene using liquid nitrogen before pumping down the chamber to low pressure. Substrate cleanliness and preparation proved to be essential in the synthesis process
Determining Antibiotic Efficacy on a Species of Pseudomonas Bacteria Isolated From a Soil Sample
The Pseudomonas genus contains a variety of species of bacteria that play essential roles in soil health, plant growth, and microbial competition. Certain species exhibit biocontrol properties by producing antimicrobial compounds to protect plants from harmful pathogens. While our Pseudomonas species is normally non-pathogenic to plants and humans, it could transfer antimicrobial resistance genes to harmful pathogens in the environment. By studying the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the isolated bacteria to several common antibiotics, we could identify antibiotic-sensitive strains that could be used in agriculture, or antimicrobial-producing strains that could serve as natural defenses for plants
The High Cost of Substance Use Disorder and Recidivism
What policy changes can the Idaho State Criminal Justice System implement to address problems of high incarceration and recidivism rates for individuals with substance use disorder
New Beginnings Behavioral Health
This project is the 2025 IIDA Student Competition. The objective of this project is to design the Lobby/Reception and Inpatient area of a behavioral health clinic. The design must consider the safety and well being of the patients as well as the staff. This project is in partnership with OFS and Carolina and at least 50% of the furnishings shall be sourced from them. The Lobby/Reception must contain a reception desk for 4 staff, a waiting area, and a minimum of 4 lockers for guests. The Inpatient area must contain the following: a sallyport at the entrance; 2 consultation rooms (one with technology able to accommodate telehealth appointments); an exam room; a work area for the staff, storage; a janitor closet; a noisy activity area for the patients with a nourishment, dining, and TV area; a quiet room; a group therapy/quiet activity room; a courtyard; patient toilets; a minimum of 8 patient beds (include both private and semi-private rooms); and a care desk that must have visual access to all patient areas
Concrete Grove Biophilic Hotel
Located in Eugene, Oregon, the Concrete Grove Hotel is a modern biophilic retreat inspired by the state tree, the Douglas fir. Influenced by Louis Kahn\u27s architecture, the design combines concrete and glass with natural materials to harmonize strength and tranquility
