This master's internship with report aims to apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills
acquired in the curricular part of the master's degree. In this sense, within the scope of the 2nd
Cycle in Linguistics: Societies and Cultures, the internship was carried out at Madeira Island
Magazine (MIM). This is published online and on paper, distributed free of charge in hotels,
restaurants, museums, tourist entertainment companies and tourist offices in the region, with its
cost being paid for by the advertising of the sponsor companies. It is a bimonthly bilingual
(Portuguese-English) magazine promoting events, festivities, cultural heritage, traditions,
geology, fauna and flora, leisure areas, sports activities, and recipes from Madeira. The working
methodology used was the survey and research on regional themes to be included in the
magazine, of interest to residents and tourists of the Madeira archipelago. Various data collection
methods were used, such as observing current affairs, consulting updated bibliography and
conducting interviews. Therefore, the internship activity mainly involved research on topics such
as nature, Madeiran products, sports and heritage, with the aim of writing short articles for the
magazine. Interviews were carried out with people from different areas, allowing the disclosure
of various issues regarding society and culture in Madeira. As it is a magazine aimed mainly at
tourists, the texts of the articles written and the interviews transcribed from Portuguese to English
and from English to Portuguese were translated. In the translation, issues related to the bilingual
publication and the socio-cultural realities of Madeira were dealt with. The publication of the
texts also implied that linguistic revision and editing were worked on
Sentiment Analysis of Restaurant Reviews in Portuguese: A Transfer Learning and Ensemble Approach with Edge Computing
This research focuses on a case of applying transfer learning and transformer-based pre trained models to sentiment analysis in Portuguese in restaurant reviews. Specifically, we em ploy BERT and RoBERTa, two strong Language Models that fit into limited computational

The BRANT project introduces a novel approach to cognitive rehabilitation utilizing
artificial intelligence for precise characterization and prediction, followed by personalized
treatment through the creation of tasks in the areas of attention, memory, executive
functions, and language. This project combines artificial intelligence for accurate
characterization, followed by personalized treatment through task creation in attention,
memory, executive functions, and language areas. It is implemented on an online
platform that allows for both autonomous and medically supervised training. The
advantage lies not only in providing a prolonged and personalized response but also in
the ability to monitor patients and their progress after hospital discharge. This document
details the process of designing and creating 3D scenarios and objects for theimmersive
version of an existing rehabilitation platform (BRANT). The primary goal of this thesis was
to create Virtual Reality (VR) scenarios, specifically a city, enabling the simulation of daily
activities for cognitive tasks or exercises to assist individuals with cognitive problems
Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico.
This report's main objective is to obtain a master's degree in Pre-School Education and
Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. As a result, this seeks to reflect and analyze,
based on current legislation, the work developed throughout the three pedagogical
practices.
To this end, this report is structured into two complementary parts: Part I - Theoretical
and Methodological Framework, which aims to portray and substantiate the pedagogical
practices, mentioned in Part II - Pedagogical Intervention, in Pre-School (Class
Transition) and in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education (1st year and 4th year).
Regarding pedagogical practices, a reflective and critical stance was evident, using the
Action Research methodology, which made it possible to identify the weaknesses of the
group and different classes, to readjust the pedagogical action to overcome the problems
encountered. Therefore, we sought to answer the following questions: How can children
in the Transition Room develop skills in cooperative work? How can students in the 1st
year class expand their reading comprehension and develop their writing skills? and
finally How to promote interpersonal and social skills for resolving conflicts/disruptive
behaviors in the 4th year class?
Therefore, this report encompasses a deep reflection on the set of pedagogical experiences
experienced throughout my training, marking the beginning of my journey as an
education professional, which prioritize the needs and interests of children first
Association between Body Composition, Physical Activity Profile, and Occurrence of Knee and Foot Postural Alterations among Young Healthy Adults
Knee and foot deformities refer to structural abnormalities in the knee and foot bones, joints,
ligaments, or muscles. Various factors, including genetics, injury, disease, or excessive use, can cause
these deformities. These musculoskeletal conditions can significantly impact individuals’ quality of
life. This study examined foot and knee deformities in 231 young healthy adults (165 men, 66 women)
aged 22.6 ± 4.9 years and their association with physical activity and body composition. The postural
assessment was performed by two Physiotherapists, with the subject standing in three views: side,
anterior, and posterior. Physical activity (Baecke’s Habitual Physical Activity Questionnaire) and body
composition (InBody 770) were assessed. Results showed that the most common foot deformity was
pes planus, while the genu recurvatum was the most common knee deformity among the individuals.
Physical activity level was negatively associated with knee and foot deformities. Conversely, body
composition differed with the presence of genu recurvatum. These findings present a starting point
to understand the occurrence of knee and foot postural alterations according to the individuals’
body composition and physical activity profiles, which could support the deployment of tailored
interventions among healthy adults. In addition, early detection of postural changes is crucial in
mitigating their negative long-term impact on physical well-being.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

What do you think about parenting? Challenges to cohesiveness in child protection teams
Child protection work requires professionals to manage the different perspec tives regarding intervention aims and strategies associated with different per sonal, academic and organisational backgrounds. Parenting assessment is a
determinant task for intervention and for children’s future where universal or
automatic criteria remain unavailable. This study aimed to explore and char acterise the existing agreement (and disagreement) between child protection
workers on statements related to judgements on parenting. A total of 325 Por tuguese social workers participated in the study, mostly with a background in
social work and psychology and more than six years of experience in child pro tection. Professionals were required to distribute 50 sentences in a scoring sheet
(Q-sort methodology) with 11 points. The results were interpreted through the
matrix of operationalisation of minimally adequate parenting. Three main
answer strands revealed different focuses in sorts’ configurations: the child, the
procedures and the child’s ecology. The clear difference between the factors
could contribute to maintaining the child protection system as an adversarial
one, and not as an effectively cooperative system. To promote team cohesive ness and intervention success, and to reinforce professionals’ wellbeing and
resilience, metacommunication on parenting assessment criteria is proposed as
a determinant strategy.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Action centered on students was adopted, namely educational games.
This report is a sharing of experiences from various pedagogical experiences
qualitativos e quantitativos. Estes penúltimos corresponderam à análise documental sobre
diversos temas e entrevistas a grupos focais, enquanto os últimos permitiram avaliar as
respostas do inquérito aplicado à população madeirense. A metodologia quantitativa
The Autonomous Region of Madeira is characterised by its strong commitment to tourist
attractions involving cultural and artistic events. There are several entities offering non tertiary arts education to the residents of Madeira, however, there is no higher education
institution that does so exclusively. With the aim of attracting and retaining artistic talent
in the archipelago, this project was drawn up to study the feasibility of creating the Escola
Superior Artística da Madeira. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used in the
research. The first involved analysing documents on various topics and interviews with
focus groups, while the second made it possible to assess the responses to the survey
applied to the Madeiran population. Based on the methodological tools, it was determined
that the creation of a higher arts education school is a moderate necessity. The quantitative
methodology involved 149 respondents, indicating a high degree of importance in the
creation of such an institution. This project shows an in-depth practical study on the
feasibility analysis of a higher education school — having been possible to see, by
analysing the micro and macro environments, that it is indeed financially feasible — so
it could be a facilitator for entrepreneurs and investors in the future. It is important to note
that there were some limitations to this study, especially due to the difficulty in surveying

Protein extracts from microalgae and cyanobacteria biomass. Techno-functional properties and bioactivity: a review
Microalgae and cyanobacteria are photosynthetic and unicellular organisms that contain considerable amounts
of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and polyunsaturated fatty acids, among others, with applications in the
cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food industries. These microorganisms can accumulate protein up to 70 % of total
biomass depending on the microalgal strain, hence they have been regarded as an alternative protein source for
the future. Microalgal proteins have important applications such as emulsifying, foaming, and gelation prop erties, which are important for the determination of quality and texture of foods. Some microalgal peptides
possess important bioactivity with many health-benefit effects. Therefore, to maximize the production of proteins
from microalgae and cyanobacteria, many protein extraction procedures have been studied to increase the
economic return. They have been tested towards higher protein yields at low energy cost, the preservation of
protein native properties, and lower cell debris. This later is fundamental to facilitate the subsequent purification
processes so that the overall cost can be reduced. The aim of this work is to review some cell disruption processes
for the extraction of protein from microalgae and cyanobacteria, considering that this step is crucial for the
overall process due to the high rigidness of microalgal cell covering, which can hamper the release of proteins. It
also aims at reviewing the purification techniques after cellular disruption, from conventional to more recent
approaches, and finally addresses the antioxidant, antidiabetic, antihypertensive, antibacterial and other
bioactive properties of microalgal protein hydrolysates and peptides
