O papel do diretor na promoção do sucesso educativo no modelo de ensino privado: um estudo qualitativo com diretores de cinco escolas portuguesas
No full textEste estudo investiga o papel da liderança dos diretores escolares no sucesso educativo em escolas privadas portuguesas com percurso formativo completo, do pré-escolar ao ensino secundário. A investigação adota uma abordagem qualitativa, centrando-se na análise de cinco entrevistas semiestruturadas a diretores e nos respetivos projetos educativos institucionais. Através de uma análise de conteúdo orientada por seis categorias temáticas — visão e liderança estratégica, gestão pedagógica e curricular, foco no sucesso educativo, cultura organizacional e clima escolar, inovação e autonomia, e
relação com a comunidade educativa — procura-se compreender de que modo a ação dos influencia as práticas, valores e resultados das suas escolas. Os resultados apontam para uma forte presença da liderança estratégica nas práticas do quotidiano, nem sempre refletida com igual intensidade nos documentos institucionais. A triangulação dos dados revela padrões de coerência, mas também áreas de descompasso entre discurso e formalização institucional, sublinhando a importância de uma liderança pedagógica articulada e consciente no setor privado da educação. O estudo contribui para o aprofundamento da reflexão sobre as dinâmicas de liderança e gestão no contexto educativo português, oferecendo pistas relevantes para a prática e para futuras investigações.This study explores the role of school leadership in promoting educational success within Portuguese private schools offering a complete educational pathway from preschool to secondary education. Adopting a qualitative approach, the research draws on five semi-structured interviews with school directors and the analysis of their respective educational projects. Using content analysis based on six thematic categories — strategic vision and leadership, pedagogical and curricular management, focus on educational success, organizational culture and school climate, innovation and autonomy, and community engagement — the study examines how leadership practices shape school values, strategies, and outcomes. The findings reveal a strong presence of strategic leadership in everyday practices, though not always equally reflected in institutional documents. Data triangulation highlights both alignment and divergence between directors’ narratives and institutional frameworks, emphasizing the significance of pedagogical leadership in the private education sector. No full textThis research aimed to analyze the influence of school management on the academic performance of students in public schools in Presidente Dutra, Maranhão, identifying strategies capable of optimizing educational outcomes. Based on a qualitative and quantitative approach, questionnaires were applied to students and teachers, along with interviews with principals and pedagogical coordinators. To deepen the understanding of the phenomenon, the data triangulation method was used. The results indicated that most students perceive the school as an organized environment, with clear rules, minimally adequate infrastructure, and accessible managers. However, difficulties related to limited financial resources and administrative bureaucracy were highlighted, which restrict autonomy for the implementation of innovative practices. Among teachers, there was a prevailing recognition of the direct impact of school management on teaching quality and student motivation, as well as the importance of evidence-based strategies and the constant monitoring of educational indicators. The research confirmed that participative leadership and clear communication between management, teachers, students, and families are decisive factors in creating a favorable school climate for learning. On the other hand, findings showed that inflexible educational policies may limit schools’ ability to respond to their specific demands. Successful practices, such as periodic evaluation meetings, encouragement of student protagonism, and continuous training for managers and teachers, were recognized as positive references in the local context. As practical contributions, the study proposes strengthening managerial training, expanding administrative autonomy, improving mechanisms for community participation, and diversifying funding sources. The research also suggests future longitudinal investigations aiming to more deeply observe the relationship between school management, public policies, and academic performance over time. This study hopes to contribute to the debate on the importance of school management as a structuring axis of public education quality and to reflect on pathways that can ensure more equitable and meaningful learning for all students

No full textEste relatório final de estágio, realizado no âmbito do 2.º ciclo de Estudos em Ensino de Educação Física no Instituto Piaget, em Almada, apresenta uma reflexão sobre as competências adquiridas durante a Prática de Ensino Supervisionada (PES). Estruturado em quatro áreas — Profissional, Social e Ética; Desenvolvimento do Ensino e Aprendizagem; Participação na Escola e Relação com a Comunidade; e Desenvolvimento Profissional ao Longo da Vida —, o relatório descreve a instituição de estágio, os objetivos definidos, o planeamento e os métodos de ensino e avaliação aplicados, assim como a interação com a comunidade escolar. Inclui ainda um projeto científico desenvolvido no âmbito da PES, com destaque para a sua relevância prática.

Environment, Education, and Identity: Psychological Perspectives on Fostering Ecological Values
No full textThis article presents a theoretical reflection on the interaction between the natural environment, education, and the formation of human identity from the
perspectives of Environmental Psychology and Educational Psychology. The
central objective is to analyze how natural environments influence the construction of psychological identity and the development of ecological values,
indicating theoretical and practical implications for the promotion of sustainable identities. The structure of the text is organized into six chapters. It begins
with the multidisciplinary relevance of integrating this area of psychology with
studies on ecological identity, followed by the presentation of the foundations
of the study of person-environment relationships, including place identity theory and emotional bonds with the natural surroundings. Subsequently, the role
of natural elements in the construction of self-perception and emotional wellbeing is analysed, based on an in-depth theoretical review. The formation of
ecological values is then discussed, especially in childhood, focusing on the
construction of ecological environmental identity, the individual’s perception
of being an essential part of broader ecosystems, and the impact of environmental education on psychological development. The psychology chapter applied to education emphasizes pedagogical strategies, curriculum development, and educational policies that promote and strengthen ecological identity.
Recommendations are presented for educators, psychologists, and policymakers, highlighting the importance of education in building environmental values. The article concludes with a synthesis of the main reflections, highlighting
theoretical and practical implications and suggesting paths for future research.
This work advances understanding of the relationships between human being and natural environments, offering support to professionals in education, psychology, and related fields interested in the construction of ecological values

O impacto da dor associada à disfunção temporomandibular na funcionalidade mandibular, stress e qualidade de vida no indivíduo
No full textDissertação para obtenção do grau de Mestre no Instituto Universitário Egas MonizIntrodução: A disfunção temporomandibular (DTM) dolorosa está frequentemente associada a dor crónica, conduzindo limitações funcionais da mandíbula, níveis elevados de stresse e uma diminuição substancial da qualidade de vida. Compreender essas associações é essencial para orientar intervenções terapêuticas mais eficazes.
Objetivos: O estudo tem como objetivo comparar os níveis de stresse, qualidade de vida e funcionalidade mandibular entre adultos com DTM dolorosa e não dolorosa.
Materiais e Métodos: Foi conduzido um estudo descritivo, observacional e transversal, através de um questionário online aplicado através da plataforma Google Forms a 65 participantes da clínica dentária da Egas Moniz. Os participantes foram distribuídos em dois grupos: com DTM dolorosa e sem DTM dolorosa, com base na avaliação da dor por meio da Escala Visual Analógica (EVA). Utilizaram-se os instrumentos PSS-10, OHIP- 14 e JFLS-20 para avaliar, respetivamente, os níveis de stresse, a qualidade de vida relacionada com a saúde oral e a funcionalidade mandibular.
Resultados e Discussão: Os pacientes com DTM dolorosa tiveram escores significativamente superiores no OHIP-14 e JFLS-20 em comparação com os participantes sem dor (p < 0,001), confirmando o impacto negativo da dor na qualidade de vida e na função mandibular. No entanto, não se verificaram diferenças significativas
nos resultados do PSS-10 entre os grupos (p = 0,397), sugerindo que a dor crónica associada à DTM pode não influenciar diretamente os níveis de stresse percebido.
Verificou-se uma forte correlação entre os escores do OHIP-14 e do JFLS-20, sendo mais elevados em mulheres e participantes com 35 anos ou mais.
Conclusões: A DTM dolorosa compromete significativamente a qualidade de vida relacionada com a saúde oral e a função mandibular, embora não pareça afetar os níveis de stresse percebido. A forte correlação entre os resultados do JFLS-20 e do OHIP-14 evidencia que maiores limitações funcionais da mandíbula se traduzem diretamente num impacto negativo na vida quotidiana.Introduction: Painful temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is often associated with chronic pain, leading to functional limitations of the jaw, high levels of stress, and a significant decrease in quality of life. Understanding these associations is essential for guiding more effective therapeutic interventions.
Objectives: The aim of the study is to compare the levels of stress, quality of life, and mandibular functionality between adults with painful and non-painful TMD.
Materials and Methods: A descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional study was conducted through an online questionnaire administered via the Google Forms platform to 65 participants from the Egas Moniz dental clinic. The participants were divided into two groups: with painful TMD and without painful TMD, based on pain assessment using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The instruments PSS-10, OHIP-14, and JFLS-20 were used to assess, respectively, stress levels, oral health-related quality of life, and
mandibular functionality.
Results and Discussion: Patients with painful TMD had significantly higher scores on the OHIP-14 and JFLS-20 compared to participants without pain (p < 0.001), confirming the negative impact of pain on quality of life and mandibular function.
However, no significant differences were found in the PSS-10 results between the groups (p = 0.397), suggesting that chronic pain associated with TMD may not directly influence perceived stress levels. A strong positive correlation was observed between the OHIP-14 and JFLS-20 scores. Additionally, women and participants aged 35 or older showed higher scores on both scales.
Conclusions: Painful TMD significantly compromises oral health-related quality of life and mandibular function, although it does not appear to affect perceived stress levels.
The strong correlation between the JFLS-20 and OHIP-14 results highlights that greater functional limitations of the jaw directly translate into a negative impact on daily life
