competências essenciais e multidimensionais do século XXI.

do sucesso educativo. This research work within the scope of the master’s degree in Pedagogical Supervision

Changing consumer habits, combined with the evolution of technology, presented in everyone's daily lives, as well as an increasingly competitive environment, with new players, namely fintechs, have forced banks to urgently address their digitalization process, to remain relevant, in a market that is in full transformation process. Portugal is no exception, with more and more people seeking digital services and products in the financial area, namely in the banking sector. Thus, and considering this reality, the main purpose of this dissertation is to investigate the main strategic challenges of digital transformation for the Portuguese banking sector, and, at the same time, to characterize the moment in which the Portuguese banking sector finds itself in relation to digital transformation. Thus, an exploratory study supported by a mixed research methodology was developed, using quantitative and qualitative methodologies for data collection and analysis. A questionnaire was then applied to 50 bank employees to understand the main challenges of this deployment, as well as the main products consumed by customers and to characterize the current moment of digital transformation. There have also been conducted 3 interviews with top bank directors to deepen all these questions. The results show that financial digital transformation is already a reality in Portugal, with the new generation preferring to use banking services on a digital platform rather than physically. However, there is still an older generation that prefers the local branches. Digital transformation is responsible for increasing productivity, efficiency and new opportunities and services for customers, promoting also financial literacy and at the same time responsible for reducing costs. Despite these strengths, automation can increase unemployment and technologies are more vulnerable to cyber-attacks and fraud. The main obstacles identified are related to the lack of financial and digital literacy of the population, coupled with the costs associated with the implementation of digital solutions, as well as the lack of skilled human resources in the area. Digital regulation is essential to maintain sustainability and trust in the banking sector. In short, digital transformation in the banking industry is already a reality, increasingly cemented as new technological opportunities emerge, and it is increasingly essential to adapt digital services and products to the needs of increasingly demanding customers
Collaborative new product development and the supplier/client relationship: cases from the furniture industry
The main goal of this chapter is to identify the procedures and management methods used by firms of the furniture industry on collaborative new product development (CNPD) involving supplier–customer relationships. Using a qualitative methodology involving the analysis of eight firms, it is possible to conclude that: (1) the majority of the firms studied use throughout their R&D
activities the principles of open innovation; (2) the wood and metallic furniture industries present divergent characteristics concerning the coordination and management of resources associated with CNPD; (3) all firms encourage the involvement of the suppliers in the CNPD process; (4) the management procedures used during the CNPD process are directly related to the size of the firms and the sub-sector they operate; (5) the CNPD process is underpinned by the business relationships between all the parties involved, as well as by the type of products, type of industry, and size of the firms; (6) there are differences in the CNPD processes between firms from the wood furniture industry and firms from the metallic furniture industry.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Purchase intention of counterfeit luxury goods: a look based on risk perception theory
The aim of this study is to examine the intention to buy counterfeit luxury products using the framework of the theory of perceived risk in the Portuguese market. Data was collected using a questionnaire applied to 97 consumers and analysed using structural equation modelling. The results highlight that positive attitudes towards counterfeit luxury products increase the likelihood of consuming counterfeit products. On the other hand, perceived financial risk and perceived psychological risk influence individuals' attitudes towards buying counterfeit luxury products. The perception of financial risk also influences the intention to buy counterfeit luxury products. The contributions of this study have significant implications for policymakers, luxury brand managers and consumer protection agencies.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Unveiling paradoxes: navigating SMEs readiness in the post-pandemic normality
This paper centers on the challenges posed by the pandemic crisis, examining the crucial organizational and strategic alignments, as well as the inherent paradoxes that
are pivotal in nurturing competitiveness within the changed post-pandemic business landscape for small and medium-sized firms (SMEs). Encompassing nearly 90% of all
global businesses, SMEs have a central role in driving social advance, fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and facilitating sustainable economic development within
their communities. As the recent COVID-19 pandemic crisis conveyed demanding challenges for businesses, understanding its complete impact requires a thorough
appreciation of the adaptive measures and organizational changes in the new post-crisis landscape. To this end, we have conducted a systematic literature review by examining
88 published articles, proposing a tri-dimensional categorization of SME practices and behaviors based on the existing body of knowledge. The study highlights the inherent
challenges erupted from the pandemic driven VUCA environment, stressing the importance of adaptability and innovation within SMEs. Effective leadership and
adaptability are deemed vital for steering SMEs through external contingencies, as well as embracing digitalization, technology advancements, and governmental support.
Nonetheless, further research is warranted to grasp SMEs adaptability on the post-pandemic normality, urging policymakers to prioritize innovation, networking, and
international expansion. This work was financially supported by the research unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (UIDB/04058/2020)+(UIDP/04058/2020), funded by national funds through FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Mapping the academic genres in Portugal: contrastive analysis of rhetorical-structural aspects of master's theses
Master's dissertations are a growing academic genre following the standardisation of higher education through the Bologna Process (2007). The aim of this research is to identify the main rhetorical-structural properties of master's dissertations from a restricted group of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSC) and STEM disciplines, verifying the similarities and differences between them. The proposal by Swales (2004) and Hyland (2009) for the analysis of PhD structures, adapted by Silva and Santos (2018; 2021), was used to classify the text plans. The introductions and conclusions of the dissertations were also analysed using the CARS model (Swales, 1990; Bunton, 2002) and rhetorical analysis models for the concluding chapters of theses (Bunton, 2005; Silva & Santos, 2020). The results obtained show contrasts in text plans adopted: IMRD in Ecology and Psychology; a mixed plan in Computer Engineering; the plan organised by topics in Literature and Culture, History and Mathematics. As for the language of writing, English is used more in STEM, while Portuguese prevails in HSC. These options are reflected in the structuring of the introductions and conclusions: in Maths, the introductions are shorter and the conclusions do not appear in all texts; in Ecology and Psychology, the introductions include the theoretical framework and are long, and the conclusions tend to be integrated into the Discussion; in History and Literature and Culture, the introductions and conclusions are longer and are more detailed.O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido com o apoio da Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia através da bolsa de doutoramento com a referência UI/BD/151458/2021, integrado no CELGA-ILTE

The evolution of corporate divestment: towards a new research paradigm?
When compared to other fields of research such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate divestment is under researched. There are at least three main reasons for this: the environment in which corporate divestment research has taken place has caused divestments to be understood as acquisition-driven rather than strategy-driven, the scope and distinct modes of divestment, and the difficulties in isolating the divestment phenomena. The objective of this chapter is to review the main theoretical approaches used in the study of divestment, to analyze their contribution to the field, and to discuss whether new approaches are needed in divestment research. Most studies of divestment are based on the concept that divestment is the outcome of poor unit performance, and the reversal of previous over-diversification and growth strategies that expanded the company size beyond optimal control. This chapter proposes four future lines of research into corporate divestment: the international business strategy, the network perspective, the stakeholders’ perspective, and the institutional theory.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

De-internationalization of SMEs: a case study
Existing literature has devoted high attention to the topic of internationalization. A common assumption is that companies progressively commit to international operations; however, with the increase of competition in international markets, there may be a backwards perspective towards international operations.
In this chapter, the topic of de-internationalization is examined, and a case study of a Portuguese SME that de-internationalized conducted. The featured case highlights the drivers and the main challenges of internationalization, as well as the factors and the difficulties in a de-internationalization process. The chapter findings highlight the need to expand the existing research on the topics of de-internationalization and re-internationalization.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
