Stygmat katastrofy a ochrona dziedzictwa kulturowego czarnobylskiej Strefy Wykluczenia

    No full text
A breakdown of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant became a reference point for countless debates on the global consequences of introducing the nuclear technology. The most severe aftermaths of the catastrophe were witnessed, however, not because of radioactive contamination, but as a result of the resettlement of 336 thousand people and the degradation of the unique cultural heritage of eastern Polissia. Chernobyl, due to the stigma of radioactive contamination and apocalyptic landscapes, is perceived in complete detachment from its rich history and tradition. It has been stigmatised by the myths and stereotypes of mass culture. The article presents the specifi city of eastern Polissia and discusses the Ukrainian researchers’ activities, conducted for many years, to rescue the relics of Polissia culture in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. It presents problems arising from the gradual degradation of traditional architecture in this area. As conservatory activities have not been carried out for many years and considering the lack of the overall vision of protection, this heritage may be completely destroyed in the near future.PRZEGLĄD KULTUROZNAWCZY NR 1 (27) 2016, s. 35–48Awaria Czarnobylskiej Elektrowni Jądrowej stała się punktem odniesienia niezliczonych debat dotyczących globalnych konsekwencji wdrażania nuklearnej technologii. Najdotkliw-sze skutki awarii odnotowano jednak nie w sferze radioaktywnego skażenia, a w wyniku wysiedlenia 336 tysięcy osób i degradacji unikalnego dziedzictwa kulturowego wschodniego Polesia.

Systematic elongation of thienyl linkers and their effect on optical and electrochemical properties in carbazole–BODIPY donor–acceptor systems

    No full text
Synthesis, spectral and electrochemical properties of a series of new panchromatic BODIPY donor– acceptor–donor derivatives, comprising carbazole conjugated with systematically elongated framework by thiophene – based linkers were investigated. It has been found that elongation of the p-system with one thiophene unit shifts the spectra toward near infrared, while incorporation of next thiophene derivatives has only limited influence on the lowest energy transition, causing no further shift of absorption maxima. Elongation of p-conjugation of the donor arm tunes the electron properties, influencing the ionization potential (IP) and electron affinity (EA) values of the molecules. The experimental results are supported by quantum chemical computations revealing that electron density of SOMO orbital is low at the 3-positions of terminal carbazole units in BODIPY push–pull oligomers while elongating their backbone, thus preventing them to undergo electrochemical polymerization giving reversibly p- and n-dopable products. Presented study tests the influence and limitations of incorporation of electron – rich substituents for designing panchromatic BODIPY systems
