Master tracks in different resolutions of METEOR cruise M203, Mindelo - Bridgetown, 2024-08-16 - 2024-09-24

    No full text
Raw data acquired by position sensors on board RV METEOR during expedition M203 were processed to receive a validated master track which can be used as reference of further expedition data. During M203 the motion reference unit Kongsberg SeaTex AS MRU-5 combined with Kongsberg SeaTex AS Seapath 320 and two C and C Technologies GPS receivers C-NAV3050 were used as navigation sensors. Data were downloaded from DAVIS SHIP data base (https://dship.bsh.de) with a resolution of 1 sec. Processing and evaluation of the data is outlined in the data processing report. Processed data are provided as a master track with 1 sec resolution derived from the position sensors' data selected by priority and a generalized track with a reduced set of the most significant positions of the master track

Continuous thermosalinograph oceanography along RV MARIA S. MERIAN cruise track MSM127/1

    No full text
Underway temperature and salinity data was collected along the cruise track with two autonomous measurement systems. Usually, the systems are changed after 12 hours. While temperature is taken at the water inlet in about 6.5 m depth, salinity is estimated within the interior measurement container from conductivity and interior temperature. Neither temperature nor salinity calibration was performed. For details to all processing steps see Data Processing Report

Seismic processed data (Ocean Bottom Seismometer working area dataset, profile P400) during RRS JAMES COOK cruise JC228, Guatemala Basin, North Pacific Ocean

The data comprise processed active-source seismic data acquired with ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) along profle P400. The data were collected in the Guatemala Basin of the Eastern Pacific Ocean during the joint German/United Kingdom expedition JC228 of the research vessel RRS JAMES COOK in December of 2022. The data set consists of 11 OBS stations deployed at an interval of 7.5 km receiving shots of a tuned 5000 cubi-inch airgun array, fired at an interval of 75 m, along a 90 km long profile. Each OBS consists of 4 channels (channel 1: hydrophone; channel 2: horizontal component 1; channel 3: horizontal component 2; channel 4: vertical component)

Core summary for IODP Site 386-M0088

List of recovered cores from the above given site on International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 386 (Japan Trench Paleoseismology). The offshore phase of this expedition took place between 2021-04-13 and 2021-06-01 onboard Japanese R/V Kaimei from and to Yokosuka, Japan. Cores have been acquired by the use of a Giant Piston Coring (GPC) System. The GPC system consists of a set of two coring barrels - a piston corer and a trigger corer. According to IODP core type nomenclature, cores retrieved from the piston corer barrel are labelled by the letter "H" (for hydraulic piston corer) and those from the trigger corer are identified by the core type letter "P" (for push corer). For further methodological information see methods chapter in Strasser, M. et al., 2023 https://doi.org/10.14379/iodp.proc.386.102.202

Processed CTD data from RV MARIA S. MERIAN cruise MSM119, Reykjanes Ridge

Physical oceanography data was acquired by a ship-based Seabird SBE911+ CTD-Rosette system onboard Maria S. Merian during research cruise MSM119. The CTD system is comprised of a Seabird SBE911Plus including dual respectively redundant sensor and pump packages. The SBE11plus Deck Unit remains on board in a laboratory and supplies on one hand power to the SBE9plus underwater unit, on the other hand data telemetry between the SBE9plus and a measurement PC. The SBE9plus underwater unit itself holds a pressure sensor and is interfacing with dual SEB3 temperature, SBE4 conductivity and SBE43 oxygen sensors and two SBE5 pumps to provide a pumped water supply past each sensor. The system also carries an optical FLNTU sensor to measure a combinations of back-scattering, turbidity, and chlorophyll-a. To quantify the photo-synthetically active radiation a PAR sensor is installed as well. Hydrographic data were processed to 1 bin resolution (0.04 s) by using SBEDataProcessing software (version 7.22.5). Processing included the removal of obvious outlier. None were found

Physical properties (MSCL) of IODP Hole 386-M0087A

Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL) data (P-wave velocity, gamma ray attenuation (GRA) density, magnetic susceptibility, natural gamma radiation (NGR), noncontact resistivity (NCR)) from the above given hole of International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 386 (Japan Trench Paleoseismology). These data were obtained from whole round core sections by means of a Geotek MSCL during the offshore phase of the expedition. The offshore phase of expedition 386 took place between 2021-04-13 and 2021-06-01 onboard Japanese R/V Kaimei from and to Yokosuka, Japan. As the aforementioned parameters are sensitive to temperature core sections were stored for at least 6 hours after arrival on deck before measurement to allow for temperature equilibration. The core physical properties were measured at predetermined optimal instrument-based spatial and temporal sampling intervals. GRA density, P-wave velocity, NCR, and magnetic susceptibility were measured every 2 cm, and NGR measurements were obtained every 10 cm. For further methodological information see methods chapter in Strasser, M. et al., 2023 https://doi.org/10.14379/iodp.proc.386.102.202
